Yup! They give out hats and noisemakers, the park stays open an extra hour and there's a special New Year fireworks show. If you plan on going, get to the park early. They are known to close the gates by noon when the park reaches full capacity. In other words, it will be a very crowd day. But it's so much fun just to be there! - MellyChelly256.7 #935 11-17-11 11:04PMLike Reply
Thanks MellyChelly for the info! This is going to be our first time going during New Years so it's nice to know what to expect. It sounds like it's going to be crazy crowded but that's oklol - cinderella5331.1 #463 11-17-11 11:17PMLike Reply
You're welcome! Noon is the average time they close the gates. So, it could be sooner or later. If you are staying at a Disney hotel, I think and I do stress think you will be able to enter the park even if the gates are closed. But check with the hotel. - MellyChelly 256.7 #935 11-18-11 2:29AM

Just wondering how many of you make a trip from NorCal to DL just for the weekend? My hubby thinks it is to long of a drive (about 5 hours) to go just for a weekend, but I'm trying to talk him into it!
I drove there from Vegas just for the day on fri and it takes me 4 hours - cheryl2324241.6 #1089 11-6-11 10:26AMLike Reply

I'm in the same boat, we are near Sacramento so it's about 6-7 hour drive. I try to talk my husband into going more often, he thinks the drives too long. I just started going with friends instead! - bambirn107.4 #2938 11-6-11 10:39AMLike Reply

We like to stay on property once a year or so. Other than that, we like the Embassy Suites. Most of the time, though, we just Priceline a cheap-o hotel. - Spoonful_O_Sugar435.7 #283 5-21-11 9:17AMLike Reply
@sugarbuzz- I was at the RV park last year and it was just what we needed. The dogs weren't left behind completely, had a place to "go" had the tv on and were in a familiar place when the family was at Disney. It was a short shuttle away and my brother and I hung out at DL from 8-midnight, except when we needed food that was less expensive. It was clean and well taken care of. - DelilahJo3178.6 #1874 5-21-11 9:57AMLike Reply
