Wednesday's goal! Please share your goals to make it through today. My goal is to get some exercise in.
My goal is to drink two green smoothies. I had one earlier, and I think I'll try to sub a smoothie for dessert tonight. There, I posted it--now I have to do it! - Spoonful_O_Sugar439.1 #288 6-12-13 12:23PMLike Reply
What's a green smoothie? I'm sure it has to be good for you if it's a goal. - Sugarbuzz 55.4 #3695 6-12-13 8:24PM
A green smoothie is just basically a fruit/veggie smoothie made with leafy greens. There are tons of different recipes out there, but my current favorite is a mixture of kale and spinach with pineapple and tangerines. I add a little water and blend it up! You can add yogurt, almond milk, protein powder, etc. Green smoothies are great once you get past the color, lol! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 439.1 #288 6-12-13 9:02PM
Same...same.... Just exercise. Which I did a 3.87 mile hike today. That's a to total of 16 miles since Monday. Tomorrow is a 6-7 mile. - Sugarbuzz55.4 #3695 6-12-13 8:23PMLike Reply
That's great. It makes my walk seem short. - Mrs.mouse 426.1 #304 6-12-13 9:46PM
If you are ever in SLO, DM me and we will go for a hike. It really isn't so bad because the environment is so gorgeous. Time seems to pass quickly, even with a 18-20 min pace. Had a red fox follow us yesterday. We were stirring up the squirrels, and he was hunting. - Sugarbuzz 55.4 #3695 6-13-13 2:04PM
I will not get up and have a 3 an snack. Nope. I won't do it.

I am going to a BBQ later and girls night out. My goal is to make healthy choices. I'm starting by bringing a fruit salad to the BBQ.
Have a wonderful Saturday everyone.

Have fun with your girlfriends. I hope it is cooler there than it is here today. It's 106 today. We spent the morning at an outdoor HS graduation sitting in the sun. I swear I lost 5 lbs just in sweat! haha My goal for the rest of the day is to drink lots of water and rehydrate before my run in the morning. - D55CR245.7 #1068 6-8-13 2:43PMLike Reply

My goal today is to not pig out. I'm taking my girls on a tour of a cheese factory and making ice cream.

It's been a busy morning, but I haven't forgotten to post a goal. My goal is to get some healthy food at the store and to try and plan healthy meals. I really struggle with planning meals. I never know what's for dinner until I start cook More...

How do you deal with cravings? I'm talking about the ones that don't go away. I've been craving the same very unhealthy food for several weeks. I haven't given in yet. Any ideas?
write what you bite, diary journal. If you need a bad food, figure out a reasonable serving and fit it into your day. You will have to give up something else, more water, and take a daily multivitamin in case you are not eating right -most of us don't. You might want to ask your endocrine MD because you said you were having hormone imbalances. Taking any kind of steriods can cause hunger. Balancing hormones with oral or injections is very tough. I am a school nurse and I have a type 1 diabetic teen with insulin(hormone) and it is a roller coaster even when the carb counts are right and the units match per orders. Good question for your doctor. - Plumiegirl3503.0 #11 6-1-13 12:56PMLike Reply
For me, it depends on what it is. Sometimes I only think I'm craving something, but I'm really craving something else (i.e., I think I'm craving pizza, but I'm actually craving milk, which I always have with my pizza). Right now I'm half-way through my trial of no grain and I'm craving pasta. What is helping is a trick I saw on TV (I don't recall the guys name, it was a few years back), which is to imagine eating the food I'm craving but instead of it being good it is horrible because it has bits of hair and dirt and whatever other yuckky thing you can think of mixed in with it. - Duchess73295.4 #653 6-1-13 4:30PMLike Reply
I usually do what Plumie suggested: give into a small serving of the craving and work it into my day. I also try to exercise a bit more. Sharing a serving or ordering a child's portion helps too. If I tell myself that something is completely off limits, I obsess and end up eating too much of whatever I've used to substitute for the craving. Then I end up eating the darn thing also. 😂 - Spoonful_O_Sugar439.1 #288 6-1-13 9:07PMLike Reply

My goals for today are to weigh myself and to get some exercise in. I just bought a scale yesterday. The scale is my enemy. I avoid it. I need to know where I am to know where I need to be.

I did not achieve my goal today... I knew I was going to pick up Nothing Bundt Cake buntini's for a meeting tomorrow, and they always have samples out. My goal was to get in and out without taking a sample (it is a no-no what with the no grain thing)... I thought I would make it until the sweet gal behind the counter offered me a sample while I was waiting for my order and before I even thought about it, the sample was in my belly. I'll do better tomorrow. Hope you achieved yours today Mrs.mouse! - Duchess73295.4 #653 5-21-13 8:25PMLike Reply
I say no to a lot of things. Samples and food from the food pushers at work. I assume that unless I know who/ when the food/sample was put out - it is likely "suspect" meaning it might have germs on it from others touching it. It's extreme but if I convince myself it might be contaminated it's easier to say no. I also think about how much more I can get on my plate with a different choice. I need to get my weight down due to age and trying to lower my blood pressure so it is easier to say no out of health fears. Remind yourself that eating clean ( within your diet ) will get you to goal faster. I punctured holes in the spaghetti squash and boiled it for about 30 min. I then allowed it to cool, cut it along the equator scooped out the seeds, then used a fork to pull the strans. I put the squash into the sauce I had made and allow to cook for 30 min. I find that if its cooked more its not as crunchy and takes of a more pasta like texture. Last time we were there I got the fried chicken but I just got the breast and a double portion of green beans instead of the mashed potatoes. It seemed like a good compromise to me. I'm glad you're making progress and getting back to yourself! You may want to try and force yourself to eat a few small meals instead if just one to keep your metabolism in check. I know what you mean though about a loss of appetite. So proud of you! Once you are cleared for exercise make sure you start slow, walking, etc. Your body has been through a lot and even though you may be feeling better it will take awhile to heal. - LisaMouse7531409.4 #325 4-5-13 6:05AMLike Reply
I'm glad you are doing well. Getting healthy is job one for you. Just be sure you are eating enough, even if you have to force yourself to add in a couple of healthy snacks during the day. You want to keep your metabolism burning and if you only eat once a day, you won't burn any fat because your body is going to try and store it all to make it to the next meal. The snacks don't have to be big, even a handful of almonds or a small apple. I hope you continue to feel better and better. It's been a long, hard road for you and it's great to see that you are making progress. - D55CR245.7 #1068 4-5-13 3:51PMLike Reply

RAK! I'm feeling crafty. I made these ornaments in honor of 1 month until Christmas. Rules; 1. DM must be enabled. 2. Must have over 100 MW points. 3. Must mind your manners, say something nice. RAK ends on 11/28/12 Merry Christmas!
Add me please. My son loves Mickey. These are just adorable. My something nice: I am loving being part of the MW community. It makes me smile to see all the pics from the park and to share my love of Disneyland with others. Thank you for your RAK. Oh, and I love crafty things! - goofymom2boys498.2 #242 11-25-12 8:45AMLike Reply

With Thanksgiving approaching quickly, do you try to stay on plan for the Holidays or do you "enjoy" the day and all it's goodness?
Good morning! I enjoy my favorite foods during the day, but I hate feeling too stuffed. I don't eat the things I'm just ho-hum about, I eat lots of salad/veggies, and I only have small portions of the things I love. - Spoonful_O_Sugar439.1 #288 11-21-12 5:42AMLike Reply
I'm with SOS, I do a combination....I allow myself to eat a few things that I wouldn't normally have as part of my everyday diet, but I also don't indulge with reckless abandon. I stop when I'm full and try to eat a balance between the healthy options and the "treats". - D55CR245.7 #1068 11-21-12 2:10PMLike Reply
Happy late Thanksgiving everybody. I enjoyed myself, we had 2 different Holiday dinners to attend last weekend. I ate well, but didn't gorge myself. - Linzee533.3 #218 11-27-12 10:36PMLike Reply
