We ate at garden grill the last time we were there and loved it. The characters really take their time with you and the restaurant rotates slowly through the land ride. We did Biergarten before. The atmosphere is really fun and kid friendly, but the food is only "ok." Coral Reef had the best food. Nice restaurant with neat aquariums. Kids liked the aquariums but list interest after a while. Def keep trying garden grill. I think it's the best fit for what you're looking for. - Disneyaddict

We just do the photo pass. It is free and every opportunity we get we also ask if they would take one with our camera or phone also. They are more than happy to. When we get home we pull up what they have and make a decision at that time. Some times we buy and sometimes we don't but atleast we have them on photo pass and a camera just in case
You'll get mixed reviews on this topic, lol! I like it, but I don't do it every trip. I will likely do the Plus in June so I don't have to worry about keeping up with my camera AND my 2yo. I want to get a lot of pics of us as a group (also a pretty large group of 8). It's expensive, and sometimes the photos don't always turn out, but I have been very lucky. Most all of my PP pics in the past were keepers! ๐ - mrsincredible

Love pop century also. We have stayed there ever since it opened. It is a big resort so there is a lot of walking. Busing good, food court good.
We love the pop century! It's our favorite value resort. Get a preferred room if u don't want to walk a mile to your room. The food court is the best I've seen. It has one bus line also so no stops at other resorts. The French quarter is nice too. No need to request a preferred room there, not a good selection in food court. Not sure if bus stops at riverside too, if so that could be a long bus ride. One nice thing at FQ is a boat ride to downtown disney - shewsluvwdw

Pop is awesome!! We stayed there three times now and will again on our next trip. It's fun, clean, colorful and everything is larger then life. Since you both want different resorts why don't you stay at both? Just another option. Ill post some pics for you๐ - Schramke

None in disney yet. They are saying the first will be in mk ( at the bakery location) to open in the summer. 8701 world center dr in lake buena vista is the closest to Disney. If you are traveling to universal they have them up there.

Update on the fire, they are getting a handle on it. The temps are cooling down so that helps, my neighbor has a list of must gets, she will get as much as possible if needed. It seems to be moving away from our house at the moment. We do know the families that had to evacuate. Praying for them. - luvthemouse

In sept we got up at 3 am to get to airport and we arrived in Disney @ 11 and went to Epcot. We had dinner at garden grill and tried to make it through the night. It was a long hot day and kids were tiered and cranky. Illuminations did not start on time for what ever reason. We headed back to buses @ 930. So I think if we end up getting there early again we would either hang out at pool or go to AK because they are not open as late
We usually get in about 3-4 at the resort, so we often checkin, unpack, have an adult beverage and a great meal. - ally

On our last trip we took the red eye from San Diego and got in at 6 am. We were at our hotel by 7:30 and they had a room ready. We all layed down and slept for about an hour then got up and headed to MK. We took it real slow and had a relaxing day and then went to bed early that night and then got up early the next day to make it to open the next park. - mzdisnee

The last time we stayed there which was many years ago it was port Orleans which we loved and next to it was a resort called Dixie landings. Lol
I'm not a fan of POR... I'm a POFQ fan! Contrary to what everyone said, I find POR loud, loud, loud! Anytime POFQ shared a bus with POR the guests were so loud! I never had that problem with POFQ. I've the same experience in the POR food court, loud! The bus service is much better at POFQ too. On shared buses they are always the first stop. - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad

I've stayed at both sides and llke them both. They are both peaceful and pretty. The FQ side is smaller and easier to walk to everything, but the Riverside has a nice bar/lounge area and table seating restaurant. - ally

We love POR! We love the grounds, love the activities, love the food court. The only drawback is that it's HUGE, so you have to do a lot of walking from one place to another. Buses come quickly, but if your room isn't near one of the stops, it's kind of a pain. I'd pay the extra to stay in a preferred room which would be closer to the bus and food. I hope you enjoy it. We've stayed there twice and enjoyed it both times! - BagGal

I think it's a good choice for us, we have a rental car so bus stops aren't an issue, even if we end up taking the bus, were already doing so much walking around the parks I'm sure the extra 20 mins a day won't matter!
