If your at Disney on Vacation and you sign the contract you might have a week or so to come up with the down payment. It sound like a lot but most people start out with 160 points then add on. Depending on the current price if points it might be about $1500 or so down payment. You can add more points at a later time so you can stay longer or use bigger accommodations. Sometimes they have promos going so points might be cheaper. Ask the rep what resort currently has the cheaper points . You don't necessarily have to have your home resort at Bay Lake or AK where the points are more costly. I bought in and added a few times thru the years. I recommend securing your own financing, that's what I did. Disney's interest rate is VERY high and I was able to finance through my bank for about 1/3 of the interest. Don't forget, you can also put up to $10k on your Disney VISA interest free for 6 months. That way you also earn some Disney dollars on the purchase! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad

Good afternoon everyone! I haven't been on here in a while. The trip to Walt Disney World that we were planning to go in June, is unfortunately not going to happen this year. We are hopefully going the first week of June in 2014, and it is looking really good so far. I had a question about Disney Vacation Club. How does the membership work? Is there an option where you can pay monthly payments instead of paying a huge amount of money? Thank you in advance! My family is trying to explore every option to make a great vacation!
Sorry about your trip, as for dvc , we pay monthly payments as well as dues , you put a down payment when you first join , and it goes by points instead of weeks , which I love , gives more freedom , it's not for some people , but I do love it, I wouldn't have been able to go as much or stay where I have without it, we have been able to go a couple times a yr in the past , this past couple trips we stayed at the grand Floridian , I've also done the club floor at the yachtclub , I would never be able to do it without dvc, when you use pts to stay at a deluxe it's points plus a $95 fee , I just love the freedom , - tracsant

We were so close to signing up in December. The only reason we did not was the number of years you become locked in. If the time had been cut in half, we would have totally done it! Just hard to know where we (or our kids) will be in 45 years. - mrsincredible

We have had ours for ten years and love it! And we live in California. Yes, the airfare is getting harder and harder to pay, but my husband starts watching the prices a year out and ends up buying about 9 mos out for a good price. So nice not to pay the hotel prices now! We could never afford to pay for the awesome places we stay plus airfare and food! - happygma2

Hi MW!!! I haven't been on lately because I've been in Las Vegas!!! I'm going home today :( but ice had a pretty bad hotel experience!!!! I'm lying in bed of the fourth room we've had to change too!! But it is a beautiful room!!! For all of the trouble they gave us about the room, they gave us another night.... free!! I'm so excited!!!!
