I am now in possession of my Moms Disneyland Pass. It's been a bit over two months since she passed away so suddenly and so young. She's one of my very best friends and I miss her so much it hurts. But I am so grateful for the many amazing and laughter filled memories we made with this pass, that I now get to carry with me. And I pray each day for my heart to heal more and more.💗
I am so sorry to hear about your mother. Carrying her Disneyland AP to remind you of all the magical times is a wonderful idea! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  750.7 #4 7:45PM

Do they always do a period of time were they offer a free dining plan with booking a trip? I heard that maybe they would announce it late spring? But I'm not sure how much to count on one being announced. We are pretty flexible on our dates, so I thought I'd wait to see what deals come up.
Usually they offer it in Sept, Oct, and parts of November. It seems like those deals pop up about 3 -4 months out. If you make your reservations now and the deal comes out they will honor the deal and make changes. The only thing is then you may be switching dates which may interfere with any dining res you may have made. We made our Nov reservations last July and really didn't have a problem with dining reservations because we went during a 'slower' time. Hope this helps. - MicheyMouse  316.4 #693 4:18PM
It's not guaranteed, but it has happened for many years. It does get to be less and less, like last year, there really weren't many dates at all in September. Go to Mousesavers.com, they have history of Disney special offers, it'll give you an idea of what dates have free dining and when the come out! - DizneyGirl  529.6 #9 5:02PM
We were lucky to snag it in October for 2 years, but missed out last year by 3 days! The two years before I was able to adjust our reservations for the free dining plan, but could not work it our last year so we missed it. - leveretttltl  32.1 #115 5:53PM

Is Oct and November warm enough to have pool and beach time? I'm not familiar with FL weather. 😊🌴🌊

Pool time yes, beach time well you got to drive an hour to get to one. And remember it is at the end of Hurricane season so you may run into a tropical storm but more than likely to just have afternoon thunderstorms. Good luck with your planning. - SSpringsdvc  4.8 #15271 12:02AM

Are the Grand Floridian Villas in a convenient location at the resort? I hear that at some resorts things can be a long walk... (Sorry for all my questions 😏) Thank you!!
It's maybe a 5 min walk if that , wasn't too bad , you can always ask a CM to drive you in a golf cart if you want, we've done that around The GF property if our building was a bit of a walk from the main building and it was raining they are always driving around , we took a tour of the villas in oct and they are amazing , the whole building is , has lots of Mary Poppins touches , and don't worry about the questions , I had a million for my first DL trip in Dec , plus we love talking disney incase you haven't noticed - tracsant  882.1 #2 7:26PM
Great! Thank you, sounds like it's within good distance after a long day. 😊👍 - Sweet_Irish_Cream  3589.5 #22 7:39PM

Are dinning plans worth it? Or do they limit flexibility? Can you make reservations like BOG under a dinning plan?
For my family it's worth it. I cook all year and I'm not cooking on vacation. I'm not going through the hassle of trying to figure out what to eat each day. I'm not a quick service all day kind of girl and neither is my hubby. The prices of some of the restaurant we dine at are extremely expensive and if I had to pay when I got there I would deter from it. Ha ha I really enjoy that all I have to Budget for is my souvenirs and whatever off menu foods I want. - 5disneylovers  722.3 #6 3:43PM
I did a lot of research on this and I think it becomes a really great deal to get a dining plan if you are going to be eating at many of the more expensive restaurants anyway. For us, it didn't make sense because my 2 kids are extremely picky eaters so while we're doing Cinderella's, BOG and a few others it still wasn't worth it. We just wouldn't spend enough on food because we're somewhat limited to simpler and quicker choices because of the kiddos. - MinnieMousewife  714.6 #195 12:08AM
Can you pre pay a gift card with the amount you estimate needing for food and items and add it to your magic band? If you estimate that what you would realistically buy would be less than a dining plan... - Sweet_Irish_Cream  3589.5 #22 1:39PM
Tables in wonderland is a better value than the dinning plan but you have to be a FL resident, annual pass holder, or DVC member to get one. It had other things like cost $120, gives you 20% off food and adult beverages, and adds 18% gratuity automatically to each bill. So your tip is paid and you are left an extra 2% off your bill (18 + 2= 20). The dinning plan is a lot of food to eat and by the end of your trip you can be to full to eat any more. That's my opinion on that. - SSpringsdvc  4.8 #15271 11:32PM

Has anyone ever done an Illuminations cruise? Is it worth it?
Eh.....do the wishes cruise from the Poly or the Grand Floridian. - IndyandMarion  1187.5 #1 4:30PM
There are so many good places around the Showcase Lagoon to watch Illuminations, and you're so close, I wouldn't bother with the cruise. It's not cheap. Like Indy said the Wishes cruise would be more worth it. - goofygal  5753.3 #9 8:35AM
We have not done either of the cruises. However on our 1st night at WDW we went to the hoop de review. After dinner and the show we got on the boat to take us back to WL. We were able to see the water parade from the boat then the captain asked if we minded if he stopped for a few minutes we said no. And next thing we knew the fireworks began. It was beautiful to be out on the water just my family and the captain of the boat It was a special way to start our vacation. And it didn't cost us anything extra - azcupcake  58.2 #3985 10:49AM

What would you say that the average first time visiter to WDW Resort misses out on? For those that go a lot what's your favorite non mainstream thing to do or see at the parks? 😃
For me, when it was our first time, I missed out on relaxing. There is sooooo much to see and do! When we came for the first time, I had all these things I wanted to do. I ended up going through my list like a checklist instead of taking the time to live in the moment and enjoy where I was. So, my advice is take your time and enjoy. Only choose a handful of things for your to do list each day. That way, you can enjoy the experience and not be worried about getting everything done (because that's impossible). Also, I picked up some park maps for you. Send me a msg with your address and I'll mail them to you! :) - BagGal  221.2 #31 1:53PM
Oh wow, that's a tough one. Let me answer this way... I have been 5 times since late 2011 (3 of those times in 2013), and I STILL haven't done everything. I have MANY firsts penciled in for our trip in 26 days. - mrsincredible  735.8 #5 1:45PM
I really don't like planning at all. I let things come as they go. I always do 7 nights 8 days and dedicate 1 day for DTD 2 days for the resort 1 day at each park and sometimes 2 for MK. I also make reservations at Ohanas for one of the days I stay at my home resort AKL. I tried the deluxe dinning plan and it was too much my hubby got sick from all the food it was like right after I had breakfast I was already having lunch. It takes too much time away. I love the breakfast though it was an amazing experience. I think people need to relax at least once at their vacations. - yessy  178.2 #42 7:07PM
So sorry about your Mom - been there not too long ago myself. Planning your trip is a good escape and gives you something to look forward to. Whatever you do, don't stress out. Just go with the flow and try to do and see things that we don't have at Disneyland (Epcot, Animal Kingdom) in particular). Allow plenty of time for Epcot to poke around the World! Enjoy! - goofygal  5753.3 #9 9:05AM

I see that some resorts and at curtain times offer free things and special offers (like meal Plans or photo packages) for booking packages. Is there a site that shows all the offers current and upcoming without checking each hotel and different dates? Thank you!! 😊
Mousesavers.com tells you history of all Disney deals. Deals for later in the year won't be out for a few months. But this website will give you an idea what might be coming out. - DizneyGirl  529.6 #9 6:02PM

Planning is a little overwhelming. Are there any hotels where transportation to the parks is more of a hassle than it's worth? And you'd rather spend a little more to be at another hotel? Looking at rates right now...
The resorts that have two options for transportation such as bus and monorail or walking and bus will save you a lot of time rather than only having the bus as an option. Contemporary is really nice because you can walk to MK and take the monorail to Epcot. The Boardwalk and Yacht or Beach club resorts are very nice because you can walk or take the boat to Epcot and HS. A few of the moderate resorts have a boat to DTD. There really is so much to plan for WDW, it is fun but yes it gets to be a little much since you want to make sure you choose the best things! - Andrea84  602.0 #7 6:53AM
The only hotel that is out of the way is AKL. All of the value & moderate hotels only offer bus service to the parks, while some of the deluxe hotels offer boat, monorail, or are walking distance. But, there's a BIG difference in price. I recommend Pop Century, Art of Animation, or Port Orleans French Quarter. POFQ only offers bus service to the parks but they do have a boat to DTD! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  750.7 #4 6:56AM
AKL is far but I think the buses come pretty often. - 5disneylovers  722.3 #6 3:41PM
All star resorts shares tge same bus... avoid it! (Only during busy hours that the 3 resorts got their own bus) - otilegna  1571.6 #69 4:01PM

Having the hardest time deciding which time of year to come. Thinking ether early Oct or early mid November....and ideas on which would be best? I guess it depends on if we want to see Halloween stuff or Christmas...is there a difference in weather too? ...so many questions haha
Personally I think Halloween at WDW doesn't even come close to DL, you can find some decorations at MK and a Halloween party every few days and not too much else. Christmas time at WDW there is so much to see, all of the deluxe resorts are decorated, the castle lights and the Osborne lights are both amazing! If you can time it right to get the end of food and wine festival and the start of Christmas, probably the second week of Nov, that would be the perfect time that I would suggest. Plus like others said Nov won't be quite so hot. - Andrea84  602.0 #7 11:32PM
The later you go, the less heat and humidity. I love going during Epcot's Food & Wine Festival which runs Sep 19-Nov 10 this year! MNSSHP is really fun too! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  750.7 #4 11:16PM
Thank you SOOO much for all the tips! 😊 - Sweet_Irish_Cream  3589.5 #22 1:47AM
If you want to see all the Christmas decor up it's best to go middle of November. When we left wdw nov 23 not everything was up yet...I really enjoyed mvmcp, but also been to mnsshp amd and enjoyed that more. - islandgirl58  243.8 #27 2:03AM

So there are a couple rides that I'm a little nervous about at WDW. I can do every ride at DLR, but when we went to Paris DL I made the mistake of thinking their Space Mountain was like ours 😳...totally different, with loops and corks screws and such. It was a total shock for me. Haha. The ones I'm on the fence about are, Everest, Dinosaurs, TOT (I hear it's bigger there), Rockn Roller Coaster and Haunted Mansion (I can barley do ours when it's not NBC themed at Holiday. Haha). And I assume Star Tours is the same as DL? Thanks for any input for those who have been to both resorts. 😊
I haven't made it on EE yet. I have heard the backwards section is not good for those with motion sickness. Dinosaur is DL's Indiana Jones and Rock'N'Roller Coaster is a lot like Screamin'. Don't worry about ToT or HM, they are comparable to DLR (except HS's ToT is way better!) I would be very cautious about Mission Space. I rode it once and was sick all day. That had never happened to me before so I mistakenly thought I could try it. (Maybe that's why I haven't made it in EE yet...) - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  750.7 #4 2:43PM
I can tell you Haunted Mansion is no big deal to do . You will like it. For the others I get motion sickness so I won't do them. Did Everest once but never again. There are no loops so if you don't get motion sickness you will be good. - Pooh147856  135.4 #51 2:32PM
My daughter did dinosaurs she was 4 at the time she liked it. I'm too chicken to try ToT and rockin roller coaster but I love EE and star tours, I've done the milder version of mission space and I liked it. - txdisneymomma  76.9 #68 3:08PM
I've done all of these and the only one I won't do again is Rock n Roller because I just can't do upside down anymore, just makes me too dizzy and light headed afterwards. And if you don't care for DL haunted mansion you probably won't like WDW either because they are pretty similar IMO. Happy planning!! 😊 - MinnieMousewife  714.6 #195 3:40PM
