Hello and welcome we too are from California .The beginning of the year is best for us because it's less humid and a week is a good time frame.
There are so many great times to go. There is so much to see and do there. Different events and seasons bring different prices and crowd levels. Some of my favorite things to or would love to do are the run Disney events, never have but wish I could. They look like a lot of fun. Irish festival at dtd/ Ragland road. Spring training games at wide world of sports, flower garden festival with concert series at Epcot, fall and harvest time. Parks are all decorated, mnsshp,   Villains event, Christmas time and mvmcp. There are water parks, shopping at dtd, putt putt, and a 5 floor gaming center ( Disney quest). There is great dinning, resort hopping especially during Christmas and awesome dinner shows luau and the hoop de do. Also there is cirque de sol. You need at least 1 day per park and then add days to add any if your favorites in. So amazing, happy planning - mmddgp  591.4 #10 8:45PM
I would suggest at least a week if you can afford it.  Anytime is a good time but most likely September if you are looking for lighter crowds as kids will be back at school then. - Pooh147856  261.9 #27 5:31PM
