I went there during Aug... Rain for me was bad, (5days out of my 9days stay there) but as long as you are inside a restaurant , you are fine... Crowd is still the same... Rain never stop me at all. I even see some CMs at EPCOT Braved the rain without any raincoats!

Crowds really don't go down during the rain, at the waterparks they do, but not at the other parks, especially during the summer. When we were there in August it rained almost everyday during that time, depending on how bad it was, people mostly stayed inside or braved the storm. - nodell111

I saw Cinderella's castle first so when I went to dl in 2011 I thought that it was weird seeing how small it was but like Indy said, it's 55 vs 71 and there is a big difference with the amount of space they have. - nodell111

If you go for value resort, Pop Centuryor Art of Animation is fun... I like its location and the bus shuttle service (u have your own bus, compare toAll Stars in general)... Never beento a moderate resort so i cant help.
I like all stars for the price great room and the food court is perfect for a family something for everyone. Rooms are a little smaller than POFQ but not bad. Your 5 year old would love it. That being said if you can and want to spend the extra money on a moderate resort they are great too. Heck lets face it its disney anywhere is perfect!!!! - Bakerjars

I'm in WA too and grew up going to DL every year! I've stayed at All Star Sports a couple times. Value resorts are the least expensive and the Sports has the best bus service of the three All Stars resorts. But, value resorts are loud! A lot of families with a lot if kids. Port Orleans French Quarter is my favorite moderate resort and I have stayed there several times! The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. I especially love the rooms with a river view. The bus service is good (better than Riverside next door) and they have a boat to DTD! If it was me, I would choose POFQ for sure! I think it would be a great choice for first timers! BTW, October is my favorite month to go too. You will love Epcot's Food & Wine Festival and be sure to take your son to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad

Oct is r favorite time to go..if u got the meal plan which a lot of times its free w package in oct so watch for that deal..but w the snack option you can use at eport on appetizer s instead of cookies and popcorn .we got beef and mash potatoes and parogies for my daughter and saved on lunch points - disneygirl74

Water park is fun, but i guess its kinda chilly during that month (not sure though coZ im from california, dont know the weather there). Go for PARK HOPPER OPTION... You can really maximiZe your stay at WDW with that.

Go park hopper. Nice to be able to bounce around during the day. Taking the buses in between the parks is not bad. I have seen some recent posts on the DL side of people whining about the buses. I guess I am not spoiled since I don't own a car, but it is very easy and you do not lose a lot of time. - Lelundrial
