On-property hotel, i always stay with value because of the price. I will be only at that hotel to charge and sleep and shower!!! But then, if the price difference is small (like $20 bucks difference), i will go for a moderate resort.
No way around it, Disney is expensive. There are so many hotels nearby. That's how I save. I stayed at a Value resort once, but don't see the need to do it again. Yes, staying at the Grand Floridian would be amazing, but I would never pay those prices. You can always visit it for free. I pick my splurges for the trip and scrimp elsewhere. Since I have to fly, I always check on Orbitz about making it a "package". Sometimes the hotels are super cheap that way.  - JenGwen323  2238.0 #86 11:41PM
We stay off site every other year. If we did not we could not go every year. The years we stay on site we make sure we do the free dining and go during value season. This means pulling our kids out of school, but I've come to terms with that and I'm quite alright with it. Staying in a condo saves us thousands of dollars because we eat there, and it's probably 10% to 30% of a moderate or Deluxe resort. We also drive down and we live in the midwest so it's a 24-hour total drive (each way). It cost us about $950 to drive down and back, but flights would be around $4,000 during the times we want to go. We do buy groceries and eat in our condo with just one meal in the park per day. We also opted not to do the park hopper pass, we're not big fans, as we feel you lose time as you're transported from one park to another, and it can save you quite a bit as well. - DizneyGirl  1545.9 #5 4:09PM

As Platinum Annual passholders in Florida, we pay installments every month which makes it more managable. Since the trips we plan already have the tickets "covered", that's one major expense already taken care of. That helps alot! Of course, with my older son in college, we can't go on as many Disney trips as we used to!  - Radio-Man  346.7 #27 12:00AM

Also buy a Disney Giftcard and use a payment card with a rewards on it. Like if the credit card has cashback/points for award money something like that. So it is like double-dipping... it might not be a big cashback but still a good start. Or you can apply for target card where you can get 5% off with disney gift card

If you are renting a car, stay OFF PROPERTY BUT make sure there is no extra charges (RESORT FEE and Parking) coz those factors adds up to the bill... date wise, if you are planning for more than a week stay at the parks, might as well buy the Annual pass because it has food and merchandise discounts... also, they offer rom discounts (if you prefer to stay with property).

The only time i went to wdw on august was aug2012! Times can change though..... but for my experience back then, crowd is tolerable... JUST NASTY WEATHER!!!! But again the weather and crowd changes
Hi syma. How exciting. We have been going in aug the last few years. It's not my favorite month but we make do. The last week heading into Labor Day wasn't too bad. It is hot but we just make sure we goPrepared with cooling towels and fans and it works for us. The crowds are still moderate but not as bad as holidays or summer time. I haven't been to either since their renovation. We enjoy them both but I prefer sports mainly because it is the first bus stop and hope to get a seat๐Ÿ˜ฌ. We are winding down our our trip also. We are going 8-11 to 8-20. The first part of our stay we are staying at cabana bay on universal property then heading down to Disney. Haven't decided where yet.  - mmddgp  1914.5 #3 8:23AM
