Planning on taking our first Disney Cruise when my son graduates in 2014. Any advice? Never cruised before. We will go to the parks in 2013, of course.
Never cruised but would like to. - 5disneylovers  1283.1 #8 7:18AM
Neither have we ... I would love to. But no one in my family wants to take one! Ha :D - JessiBelle22  78.4 #88 10:04AM
Do they think it only has kids stuff? There are plenty of adult only areas. Castaway Cay has an adult only beach. - Lelundrial  1094.5 #206 10:11AM
Theres a long list of reasons why they don't want to. But mainly because our oldest daughters don't think they find anything interesting things to do. So we just take longer trips to WDW. :D - JessiBelle22  78.4 #88 1:09PM
There is also a teen only area. They get their own club. - Lelundrial  1094.5 #206 1:28PM
Yea, we've researched all that. But, I'm still the only one who wants to go on a Disney cruise. I'm happy with whatever!! Lol I was also told to wait a bit longer, til my toddler was maybe above the age of 5. So we all could enjoy it. So I'll wait. - JessiBelle22  78.4 #88 1:37PM
The teen club on dream is in the nose of the ship and is SO cool. I was pretty disappointed that I was too old to hang out there - Pixarprincess  544.5 #441 3:13PM
We looked into it. It is very expensive. Doesn't make sense to use your points for it. - 5disneylovers  1283.1 #8 3:14PM
I used 320 points for my cruise. I do think its worth it. This is why I love DVC. - yessy  304.6 #33 3:24PM
We are a family of 5 I don't think our 346 point will cut it. - 5disneylovers  1283.1 #8 3:26PM
Yeah they have rooms with 5 beds maybe its more points cuz we are 4. - yessy  304.6 #33 3:30PM
Oh thats good to know. We will look again and try it before baby gets big - 5disneylovers  1283.1 #8 3:40PM
@Pixarprincess ... My oldest daughter is too old for the teen clubs. And her and her my other daughter do everything together. So, that wouldn't work out for us. - JessiBelle22  78.4 #88 3:46PM
It has a huge bed it has bunk beds and an additional bed but its build in to the wall u will need a key to pull it down. - yessy  304.6 #33 4:04PM
We went this last January, so much fun! It was seriously the best vacation ever! My advice is pick at least one excursion to go on. Also, (if you are all adults or are ok with leaving the kiddos at "camp") go to palo or remy for dinner. It was probably the best meal I've ever had. - Pixarprincess  544.5 #441 4:39PM
I actually have a question how many activities or executions could you do a day. I'm only going for 3 nights 4 days and I'm not sure what to do. My husband is trying to add activities to the vacation but it seems you could only for 1 a day. My hubby wants to go to remy or Palo but since we r going only for 3 nights I want to go to the 3 rotational restaurants. Any tips???? - yessy  304.6 #33 4:54PM
I'm going to the disney dream cruise. - yessy  304.6 #33 4:57PM
Skip the theme night meal and use that for palo or remy. The food at theme night was so so, just make sure you make your reservation around the fireworks (those are a must) palo also has awesome brunch. You totally can do more than 1 excursion a day (depending on your excursions and their lengths) you may need to call to reserve multiples however. I highly recommend the ocean kayaking on castaway cay, it was a half day and we were done around lunch time. We were on the dream and the aqua duck slide is a must. We went to the Bahamas and weren't crazy abou Nassau next time we would either go to atlantis or stay on the boat. If there is anything else you would like to know I'm happy to help - Pixarprincess  544.5 #441 5:22PM
Which theme night meal do u recommend to skip cuz I have kids and I've never been on a cruise. - yessy  304.6 #33 6:46PM
Thanks I definitely need more help with this cruise. - yessy  304.6 #33 7:01PM
The theme night was pirates. Then there are the 3 restaurants which all have their own themes but on theme night you repeat a restaurant and all 3 serve the same menu. Then after dinner there is a party on deck with fireworks. Animators pallet is a must do out of the restaurants. The others were good too but animators was my favorite. The live shows are also pretty awesome! Worth going to see. There are lots of fun adult things to do onboard like cooking classes and cocktail mixing/tasting seminars (these cost a little extra approx $15-20 most of the time). You must visit the district lounge area. Skyline is there and is amazing for the ambiance as is meridian which is between palo and remy - Pixarprincess  544.5 #441 7:59PM
Also I don't think your kids would miss anything not doing dinner on theme night the most entertaining part of the whole theme was on deck after dinner - Pixarprincess  544.5 #441 8:01PM
So should I skip enchanted garden and do animators palette and the royal table so that I could go to Palo. On day two we have the pirate party where should I eat that night?? I'm sorry if I'm bugging you I just want to be prepared. Thanks a lot. - yessy  304.6 #33 8:05PM
Skip the pirate party dinner. The food was whatever and the party is actually on the pool deck after dinner. That way you can eat at all three restaurants. Just make sure you plan your palo reservation early (or late) enough to allow you to go to the deck/party part of pirates night - Pixarprincess  544.5 #441 8:12PM
However if you really want to do the pirate dinner I would skip enchanted garden for dinner, it was my least favorite. - Pixarprincess  544.5 #441 8:13PM
But since I'm only doing 3 nights wouldn't I still have to skip one restaurant to go to Palo. I think I'll skip the enchanted garden for dinner. Thanks for the tips. - yessy  304.6 #33 4:09AM
Sorry apparently I saw 4 and my mind went to 4 nights! Go to enchanted garden for breakfast instead :) - Pixarprincess  544.5 #441 8:18AM
If I go to the enchanted garden for breakfast is it included in my vacation or do I pay for that separate. - yessy  304.6 #33 8:32AM
It's included, pretty much you can eat as much as you want (only Palo and remy have extra costs) we often ordered more than one appetizer or entree at dinner so we could try it all. No extra cost. Also you can get continental breakfast in your room and go down to breakfast. We did this and I highly recommend it. You can even just get coffee if you want, it was nice to have coffee and fruit while getting ready for the day. This service is just like a hotel, just leave your tag on the door at night, costs nothing extra (though it is a nice gesture to tip the waiter a buck or two for the delivery) - Pixarprincess  544.5 #441 3:11PM
Cool thanks pixarprincess ur the best. Thanks for all ur help. So what I came up with after ur help and also someone from the cruise line that I spoke to I'll be going to Palo on my third day and skip dinner at the enchanted garden and do it for breakfast instead. My first day will b at the royal table and second day at animators palette for the pirate party and last Palo. I'm do excited yay!!!!! After the cruise I'm going to WDW for 3 nights 4 days. - yessy  304.6 #33 3:23PM
Going back to the meals questions... I get that you can order as much as you want at meals, but how does it work? What is included in your cruise? What I mean is, is it like the dining plan in the parks where you are alotted a set number of meals and snacks for the trip, or is it like a food fest that every can get what they want when they want from where they want as often as they want? Sorry, just wondering how it all works before I book my very first cruise. °o° - poohbr1205  22.5 #165 5:38AM
Well it works like this for breakfast, they have Cabana's which is a buffet style, 2 of the main restaurants are open and there is also room service, you pick and choose where you want to go or get up early and go to all of them!! It's all included!!! Same thing for lunch, and you also have the food court open on the pool decks!! And you can go get 1,5,10,15,39,etc. amount of pizza or burgers or ice cream no worries!!!! And for dinner you go to the assigned restaurant you get for that night, and/or you can go to Cabanas ,the food court!! Then when you think the food service is done for the night, order a pizza, BLT, mickey ice cream bar, milk, and the amazing chocalate chip cookie they have!!all free!!!!amazing!!!! - ginastuckey  35.7 #137 5:14PM
Wow! Thanks for the info! I better start dieting yesterday. LOL - poohbr1205  22.5 #165 5:21PM
Yep ginastuckey covered it well. I have read other people say they charge for cups, that is a half truth. They charge for this beer mug in which you can sample beer every night. They do not charge you for every cup you use to get a drink. They also do have water at the drink stations. We use reusable water bottles on the ships. Alcohol and the non-alcoholic beverages in the lounge are extra charges. - Lelundrial  1094.5 #206 5:32PM
How about the executions or activities do u recommend me. - yessy  304.6 #33 5:34PM
The 2 executions that caught our eyes are. Atlantis Dolphin cay shallow water interaction & aquaventure with lunch included or Atlantis Dolphin cat shallow water interaction & Discover the Atlantis no lunch included and no access to the pools. - yessy  304.6 #33 11:55AM
