Good morning, friends!! TGIT - one day closer to fab Friday and the Incredibles are in the 30's!! π
For puddy77: took this one a few weeks ago at the Flower and Garden Festival. Made it my FB cover because I love it so!! π
DW's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show Review: Guys, I can not stress this enough... do NOT pay any attention to the bad reviews out there on this show!! I have been putting it off trip after trip solely because of the mixed reviews and negative responses I had been reading. And, I will tell you, shame on me, because I have been missing out on one of the best experiences ever!! So what's so good about it, you may be asking? 1) Location: This show deepened my love for the Poly... like, seriously. The grounds are beautiful and the walk to the show from the lobby was so nice - like taking a walk down a path in Hawaii! The location of the stage is perfectly nestled in the back corner of the resort surrounded by lush vegetation and palm trees. 2) The Waiting Staff: From the greeters, to the pre-show photographer, to our waiter and all the performers - just the nicest people ever! They made us feel so welcome and at home! 3) The Food: One word - Amazing! Loved every bite, especially the appetizer/salad. And, it's served family-style, so all you can eat - yum! 4) The Entertainment: Yes, some parts are a little cheesy at first, but each 'act' builds to a thrilling climax at the end! I thoroughly enjoyed all the dancers - female and male (hubba, hubba!) alike. They time the show perfectly around each dinner course, so you don't miss a thing! Category 1 seating is definitely worth the price, as the further back you are, the harder it may be to see without an obstructed view. However, kids and adults alike were having a ball no matter where they were seated - good, clean fun for the whole family!! We will definitely be going again and again for years to come. What a treat!!
DW Breakfast Review 3 of 3: 1900 Park Fare @ Grand Floridian. I almost didn't give this meal a chance. A little back story: I was not impressed at all with the dinner here back in Nov/Dec, and I'm not one to be disappointed with anything even remotely Disney related, so it's hard for me to even admit it. But, the food (buffet style) was seriously lacking... even the deserts. π’ Experiencing it at least once to get 1:1 time with Cindy, Charming and the hilarious Steps was worth the money and our time, but we probably won't make reservations here for dinner again. Breakfast, however, is a whole 'nother story! I reluctantly made ressies here with my sister a few weeks ago, the morning before heading to EPCOT. I kept telling myself, at the very least, they'd have Mickey waffles, and how could they mess that up?! lol Truth be told, I second guessed my decision many times, and almost changed the ressie to something else twice. But, I was actually impressed with everything, and so glad I didn't let the dinner offerings detour us from trying it again! They had a wonderful buffet with a lot of variety, hot and cold selections, including Mickey waffles with syrup or bananas foster sauce - delicious! You'll meet Alice, Hatter, Mary, Pooh and Tigger - all so wonderful and fun! So, if you're like me and had a poor experience at dinner, or have heard bad things in general, give the breakfast a whirl! I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
In honor of Indy and AK's special day... this one makes me laugh like a hyena every single time. Love the reactions of the first-timers. You can always pick them out of the crowd! Will never get tired of this show!
@timonT - how about this Daisy pattern? I googled "Daisy duck Pumpkin Pattern". Cute! π
Remember my very first Dole Whip that I posted live on my bday from MK? Well, it's confession time. It was so crowded that in the process of moving swiftly to another less crowded area (before the ice cream melted) to take a live pic for MW, someone bumped my arm and pineapple juice spilled over the edge of the cup, all down my hand and all over the front of my iPhone case. I cleaned it up with a breeze (as I always pack travel wipes in my bag when I'm in the parks), but it wasn't until later that I realized I couldn't hear out of my phone's ear piece when I made calls. That indescribably delicious treat that I happily devoured in record time had ruined my phone. Gasp! The folks at Apple were gracious enough to send me a replacement soon after we got home, and actually got a kick out of my story, that went a little something like: "You see, I'm a proud MouseWaiter and it was my sworn Disney duty to take live pics of my food!" π So, now that I have a new phone, and another trip to DW coming up in 43 days, I went shopping yesterday for a solution and found a Lifeproof case. Designed for iPhone 4,4s, and 5, it is completely water proof (or in my case, Dole Whip proof), dirt proof, snow proof, and shock proof! I can even take/post live pics in the pouring down rain at AK! Oh, I am set now. Let's do this thing! π
Proud Disney-lovin' sister moment: Look who just updated her FB cover and profile pictures to a Disney theme. Oh yeah, I got her right where I want her! π
DW Breakfast Review 2 of 3: Kona @ the Polynesian Resort. This little gem is tucked away on the 2nd floor of The Great Ceremonial House next to O'hana's. It's not nearly as popular as it's cousin next door, but I actually now prefer it over O'hana's breakfast (yes, even over dining with Mickey and friends - did I just say that out loud?!), and it has become my #2 breakfast fav in all of DW, and a must-last morning send-off tradition! Who would'a thunk it?! There are always ressies available here in the mornings, I have noticed, even last minute. It must be because O'hana's is SO popular that Kona just gets overshadowed. What a shame that is! I have had the absolute pleasure of sampling "The Big Kahuna" and their signature dish, "Tonga Toast", which is French Toast stuffed with deep-fried bananas, covered in cinnamon and sugar (with a perfectly golden-browned crisp), and a light strawberry sauce on the side for dipping (or dousing, your choice) purposes. Now, I have heard you can order this tantalizing calorie-free toast in other places inside the World, but why on earth would you miss another opportunity to walk through the addictively luscious aroma in the downstairs area, shop at Bou-Tiki or Trader Jack's for Hawaiian-themed souvenirs and pins, tour the island replicated resort grounds and just get absolutely lost in paradise for a few hours?! If you haven't checked it out, you simply must!!
DW Breakfast Review 1 of 3: Boma @ Animal Kingdom Lodge: After sampling Boma's infamous French Toast Bread Pudding drizzled in Banana's Foster Sauce (and taking a sip of my very first glass of mouthwatering Jungle Juice) during our first visit to AKL in Nov-Dec '12, it was love at first bite!! π Boma immediately became my #1 breakfast fav in all of DW, and a must for every future trip! We dined there again 2 weeks ago and it was just as spectacular as I remembered - got a birthday surprise, too! Even if you aren't staying at AKL, what a treat it is to stop by to sight-see the beautifully themed resort grounds and animals, shop in an amazing little gift shop with unique offerings, and grab a heavenly bite to eat (while being waited on by the nicest group of people in the whole wide World) before heading off to the Animal Kingdom for the day! If you haven't dined here yet, you just haven't lived! I'm telling you... give your taste buds a memory of a lifetime and book your next breakfast ressie here. They will not be disappointed... only hungry for more! π
TGIF friends!! 45 more days and finally Friday!! Woo Hoo!! Have a fabulous day!!
Me and sis at HS on our last day 2 weeks ago. She said yesterday, I'm not as obsessed as you are, but what I wouldn't give to go back and do it all over again. That's my girl - let's go!!
After forcing myself back onto the post-DW diet saddle again today, all I could think of was devouring one (or quite possibly all) of these bad boys. Instead, I had a banana. There is just no comparison, unless maybe it had been frozen and dipped in chocolate. Just sayin'.
Be Our Guest Lunch Review: One of the downfalls of booking an impromptu birthday trip to Disney World at the last minute is not being able to make ressies for your favorite restaurants. I highly recommend booking for newer or more popular places like BOG at least 180 days out. Even though I wasnβt able to secure dinner ressies for BOG for my bday on 4/2, I knew I had to stop in for a Quick Service lunch because it is my new all-time favorite restaurant at Disney World, my sister hadnβt seen the inside yet, and well duh, it was my birthday!! π BOG opens at 10:00am for QS. Around 9:30, we stopped and asked a nearby CM what time the line for QS usually started forming. She pointed near the front doors and said, βwe already have our first family waitingβ, so we decided to forego the long ride wait times in Fantasyland to ensure a front spot in line for BOG! And, boy am I glad we did, because it did not take long for the QS line to be wrapped around clear to Gastonβs fountain β and, we were second in line! About 5 minutes to 10am, the entire BOG staff came out to greet us in their fancy attire. One read from a scroll, a royal proclamation, inviting us inside to βbe our guest!β They all chanted and clapped as the castle doors were opened. I thought this was a rare treat β how often will one actually be so close in line before the restaurant opening to have a front row seat for something like that?! I loved it! Once inside, we passed through the hall of whispering knights, were given a hockey puck shaped rose (some sort of GPS device), and placed and paid for our order on the self-serve menu screens with ease. We were allowed to choose our own seats β we were the first guests of the afternoon to select the West Wing, and explored the room for a few minutes before taking our seats. Thereβs a βstormβ brewing outside, and the lights flicker every so often with the lightning and thunder β pay close attention to the torn picture of Prince Adam β the movie details in this room, and the ballroom are impeccable! Within literally a few minutes, a waiter rushed out with a roller food cart and delivered our order β vegetable quiche, lemon cupcake, and chocolate cream puff (all to die for!) Unfortunately, you are not offered the Grey Stuff when itβs your birthday during lunch, and you do not get a chance to meet with the Beast after your meal like you do at dinner. However, I do not believe it took away from our dining experience in the least! I love BOG, and I hope you all get a chance experience it someday!!
