Saw a video of the ride. The ride looks very well done but not worth 5hrs of waiting. Make sure you get a fast passπŸ˜‰ - alfrulz  18.9 #180 9:24PM
That is exactly what I was thinking.  The only reason why I might consider a 5-HR wait would be because I am OBSESSED with Frozen.  LoL - AngiMouse  114.7 #3408 2:14PM
I rode it this week. I rearranged our last morning to go over to Epcot. Snagged a FPP to ride. We got in line and scanned in twice and then it broke down. Waited it out, about 40 mins and it came back up. We rode it and as we came back right before the unload area, it broke down again. Had to move us to walk off. We got a paper fastpass good for anything. It's a super cute ride, I just wish they didn't make an overlay to another ride. They should have started from the ground up - wickedale  436.1 #524 7:42AM

So they are removing an item, and raising the price. Yep that is typical. I am not a dessert eater, but I know other people are. Last time we used the one that gave us I think 2 table service meals a day. I don't remember exactly. I just remember we were doing a few character meals, and at least one table service everyday.
Hmmm... Thanks for the info. We opted out of dining plan in December because we didn't feel like we would break even.  - DznylndFamily  19.0 #179 11:07AM
At first we loved the DDP, but it really was to much food. An additional snack instead of dessert would have let us spread the food out during the day a bit, so I wouldn't mind that. Maybe the DDP has worked its magic and it's time to try something else? - MsMode  32.7 #136 5:35PM
We are dessert folks, but usually if we do the dining plan, we go for the deluxe.  It's not about the amount of food to us, it's about the nice feeling of having everything paid for before we leave that the deluxe plan provides.  Thankfully, I don't see that plan was affected... yet.   - mrsincredible  1324.6 #4 5:28AM
I think that is the one we did. I had not done it before, and decided to try it out. It was nice having everything prepaid when it came to food. - Lelundrial  729.6 #280 11:49AM
We usually get the dining plan but last time we didn't. My daughter who is 12 cannot eat that much food. We also skipped a few desserts our selves. Adding an extra snack instead of a dessert works for me. My kids love to save them up and go to goofy candy company and use them all at once for something to eat on the ride home. - alfrulz  18.9 #180 10:13AM
TipπŸ˜‰ her and someone share a meal then you can eat three times instead of two in a day. We do that with the kids on long days that way they can have something small later in the evening  - mmddgp  1093.3 #7 5:39PM

But shipping is  $15!! That's crazy!  - DizneyGirl  979.8 #8 7:00PM
$15 bucks for thin pieces of paper?!?!? This is why I hate the fact shipping is based off of order total. Not actual weight of the items. - Lelundrial  729.6 #280 7:48PM
I did a Disney online survey today, their idea, and I gave them whatfor πŸ˜‚ a shopping survey. They've been messing up my orders! - jacdanfan  12152.5 #6 7:59PM
It's because they send it certified mail. Have to sign for it that is why it is so much - clubkid74  38.3 #124 8:24PM
That makes sense, but it doesn't cost them $15 to send it even certified unless rates have increased substantially,  recently.  - DizneyGirl  979.8 #8 9:01AM
I hope I get a survey as well Jacdanfan. I recently placed an order with them and my notifications have been all over the place. We have done it a total of 3 times and enjoyed it every time. Rides are walk on, there is a show that happens in Tomorrowland. We saw parts of it when we were on the People Mover. Merchandise you can only get during the party, and the special Sorceror's Magic Kingdom card. My son wasn't worried about meeting the characters at all, and we only ever got that watered won hot chocolate once. We still   More...
Well no hot cocoa or cookies!😁 no characters at all?! I loved seeing mickey minnie Daisy and Donald in their winter outfits. I love seeing the lights all decked out and yes you can see them at night on any other given night. They do show holiday wishes which are different from the normal but fireworks are fireworks which comes down to the parade and you can only see the Christmas parade on the nights of the Christmas party except the week of christmas when there is no party anymore than they have the parade during park hours. So it pretty much comes down to the parade and the snow in Main Street.  - mmddgp  1093.3 #7 2:56PM
My kiddos are going through that stage that they don't care to do meet and greets. I, personally, would love to see some characters that you don't normal see, like Jack. I told the girls I would be doing a few if we go. Thank you Gayle, really appreciate the info!! - DizneyGirl  979.8 #8 5:27PM

Gayle, I would LOVE the story tellers and I would see each and every one. Unfortunately, we are going too early to see them. We will be there around November 5th. - DizneyGirl  979.8 #8 5:27PM
Aww I'm sorry πŸ˜ͺ besides the osborne lights that was my most favorite thing - mmddgp  1093.3 #7 5:43PM
i did the christmas party last dec2015. first time doing it at MK. I love it because of the fireworks and the parade. BUMMER that it just rained on me. the hot choco is somewhat so-so. depends if its a freshly made, or if its sitting there forever. but in general, you will get to see the fireworks and parade early... they will do that during the actual christmas week (no more party, but that is a BUSY BUSY week!) - otilegna  2783.7 #52 10:05PM
We usually go at least once during our trip...one year went twice...if you haven't been to one, its a nice experience... Especially charaters dressed up in holiday attire...rides nothing special, more for the parade and fireworks... - islandgirl58  463.2 #19 7:17AM

First are you renting a car? I have stayed at an Embassy Suites and done Universal and Disney. The shuttle from the hotel to Universal wasn't bad at all. The shuttle for WDW was awful. There were only two return times, and both were before 10pm. It only dropped off and picked up at Epcot. Staying off site is going to be cheaper.
We will be going in early to mid August - TakeMeToNeverland19  28.1 #6418 4:55PM
Hello and welcome to the   How exciting a first trip to wdw   Through the years I have booked many ways from using a travel agent, AAA,the Disney travel company for both room only and packages. At times everyone of them have been the cheapest route, it all just depends on who is offering specials. If you have the time you can search just room then ticket prices sometimes it works in your favor. Lately I have just been using Disney to book the package. I just like it because everything is just streamlined on you magic bands then you can make dinning ressie( highly recommend) and your fast passes. If you are not a table service type of person you can probably skip the dinning plan and wing it. The all star resorts are super cute especially if you have little ones as well as is pop century resort. As far as universal with the 8 of you you can get a van to take you there for around 40. For all of you. I say go early and stay late and if your only going there one day get the park to park ticket especially if you are Harry Potter fans. I have never been to KSC, always wanted to but you could do the same thing there. You can also rent a car do a couple of days but with eight of you it might be a little high. Happy planning  - mmddgp  1093.3 #7 5:36PM
Thanks for the reply! Would you know which package is best with Disney? We are both Harry Potter fans, but is that considered a separate park? Thanks for the help! - TakeMeToNeverland19  28.1 #6418 6:09PM
Harry Potter is not at Disney it is at universal and is a totally different park but when you buy a universal park to park ticket you will be ableTo goTo both parks. Universal has diagonal alley and islands of adventure has hogsmede and they are both joined with the hog warts express. Right now the best package is the summer awaken special.  - mmddgp  1093.3 #7 6:23PM
Haha sorry I meant to put is HP a separate park from universal. That's weird that they split it up between two parks though. Is the summer awakens package for Disney? - TakeMeToNeverland19  28.1 #6418 8:58PM
Yes summer awaken is for Disney. I think the plan for hp was to use the train to transport you from hogsmede to diagon alley so that's why it is in two parks but they are both very cool areas. I am not a Hp fanatic but those who are say it is very well done. I'm sure you will love it - mmddgp  1093.3 #7 7:08AM
Welcome to the FLip side. We do stay both onsite and off, it's by far cheaper to stay offsite. I use homeaway.com and have paid as little as $55 a night for a 3 bedroom/3 bath townhome in a gated community with a heated pool and such. There are several townhome rentals just 10 minutes from Disney and if you rent a car, it's still cheaper than an onsite resort. However, there is a certain magic to staying onsite and the value resorts are bigger than life and SO much fun! If you book onsite I always book directly with Disney, it's faster and less hassle and if anything goes wrong, they can fix it much faster! Β Good luck!! - DizneyGirl  979.8 #8 6:37AM
Welcome to he Flip Side!!  I, too, am a DL'r who will be venturing to WDW for the first time his year, in December!  We went with a 9-night stay at Port Orleans Riverside, and 8-day park hoppers.  It wasn't horrible price-wise. - AngiMouse  114.7 #3408 5:02PM

It happens, kind of sad though. Hope they weren't down to long. - jacdanfan  12152.5 #6 4:57AM
I will never forget the one year we were at DL for the kiddos birthday. All of Fantasyland shut down at once. Something happened with the main system and all the rides lost power. - Lelundrial  729.6 #280 7:54AM
It's not the shut downs it's the way  people deal with it like Disney has chosen to spoil there holiday. I think CM's need to be more proactive in dealing with things.  - rink2  265.9 #34 10:03AM
