I am a big disney fan and have been to WDW at least 8 times. I have been to DL 3 times. My first visit was when i was 13. I am now a proud mommy of a 6 year old son (Riley) who is starting to fall in love with Disney as well. I took him in March 2010 for

I had to cancel our trip for September. Been a rough week. I'm also going to take a few quarters off from school! Hopefully we can go to Disney World in the next few years. Felt horrible telling the kids we couldn't go especially since my daughter asks every day if we were going to mickeys house!!! I am still very thankful for all of your help with tricks and advice for WDW.

We are staying at pop and flying out of Florida to go home at 6:55pm, will we have enough time to do a park that day??
If you are taking the magical express it stops at AOA first and then pop.  If it was me I'd get settled in and have dinner somewhere fun...maybe take a trip on the monorail and start fresh the next morning.  That's just my opinion :)  - brittandkell  547.8 #413 10:27AM
You arrive at 655 or leave for WDW at 655? - brittandkell  547.8 #413 10:28AM
You mean to leave for home? Magical express will pick you up @3 hrs before flight. If you are all packed and ready to go I think you will be able to hit a park first thing till @ 1230-1 - mmddgp  1331.6 #5 10:33AM
Oh yes! I totally misunderstood 😂😂. Yes! Agreed!  - brittandkell  547.8 #413 10:41AM

I'm so happy I was able to book all of our favorite restaurants! I got in to the two I was worried about... Bofg and le cellier! We also went with Hollywood and vine for our character dinner. Two new places I've never tried! :)

I get to make dinning reservations tomorrow. Is it worth me staying up to 12:00 to try and make them tonight for bofg or is it a slim chance we will get them?
i would say yes if your heart is set on that - mmddgp  1331.6 #5 8:36AM
I've never had any trouble getting reservations for a September trip (3 times) and I don't stay up until midnight.  However,  if you are set on getting reservations at BOG, I would consider staying up/getting up at midnight to make them.  As time goes by they open more spots too. - DizneyGirl  1153.9 #8 8:39AM
I stayed up and it wouldn't let me to about 6 that morning... - Scothran  103.6 #72 9:18AM
I'm just in the process of making reservations for the last 2 weeks of August into September. I have not stayed up, I have done a couple of days at a time and then got bored. I don't know what I want to eat tomorrow never mind 6 months away!!! Not a task I enjoy. I would never stay up but I guess I'm not that keen to eat in a particular place. Sorry for all the questions. I have another one. Our flight is around 5 hours long. Would you bring a car seat or not?
Anyone?? - disneyworldsbiggestfan  72.0 #91 7:23AM
I have never flown that far so can't tell you. I have only taken a car seat a couple times when we were renting a car.  - mmddgp  1331.6 #5 7:49AM
After the first year I never carry a car seat my kiddo never sits in his assigned seat. Too much trouble for him not to sit in it  - 5disneylovers  1254.6 #7 8:30PM
Thank you!!! I was waiting for your response. ;) I don't think I'll take it!! - disneyworldsbiggestfan  72.0 #91 12:24PM
I've done 3&4 hr plane rides with my kids of all ages. We never used a car seat. Some will say it's safer or helps the kid feel like they're in a car and keep them contained, but like you, we felt it was bulky and our kids moved between us most of the time. If you needed it when you landed sure, but just for the flight I would skip it. Also be sure to gate check your stroller, not luggage check it. You'll need it until the plane leaves and as soon as you land - timonT  428.6 #21 3:46PM
Thank you for the advice! We won't take it and yes gate check the stroller for sure! :) - disneyworldsbiggestfan  72.0 #91 8:21AM

Chef Mickey or Hollywood and vine for the food and characters? The food sounds better at chef mickeys? I think my kids will like either place. Also how do you get to chef mickeys?
We loved Hollywood and vine for the character lunch.  The food was really good especially the dessert bar! If your kids like Disney jr characters it's a blast!!  We haven't tried Chef Mickeys... - brittandkell  547.8 #413 6:29PM

Chef Mickeys !! It's at the Contemporary Resort . - skcanfield  590.6 #14 6:44PM
Have you done both? - disneyworldsbiggestfan  72.0 #91 8:21PM
I'm looking forward to H&V with Minnie and friends. I like the variety of food there and we've never had a bad meal. Have an ADR for chef mickey in August it's been years since we have eaten there. I have read good and not so good reviews but I guess we are not looking for gourmet dining!  - rink2  307.2 #30 6:54AM
Hollywood and vine is Italian and chef Mickey is American right. I saw seafood on chef Mickey and was wondering what kind? I guess that might help me decide. We love seafood and Italian  - disneyworldsbiggestfan  72.0 #91 9:03AM
I wouldn't consider H&V Italian. It's a buffet so there is literally something for everyone. I have read some bad reviews but I've always found it to be one of the better buffets and a good atmosphere.  - rink2  307.2 #30 10:30AM

Will it be too hot for my daughter to wear a Disney princess dress? I bought her one for her bday ( which is the day we will be flying home) just wondering if I should bring it or give it to her at her bday party after wdw trip? (September trip)
I know kids are resilient and see them wearing them all the time and it is so darn cute. If you are planning dinning with the princesses I would definitely let her wear it and just bring a change of clothes in case she wants to take it off for a bit.   - mmddgp  1331.6 #5 4:00PM
Totally bring it! Mine wore sleeping beauty in sept at WDW and Elsa at the Halloween party in sept!  - brittandkell  547.8 #413 4:30PM
Great thank you! Im excited to see her wearing it at the parks! Good idea to bring clothes to change into!! I will do that. So now the question is: She has Elsa, Minnie Mouse, Jasmine, and shes getting Cinderella.Do i bring any of her old ones or just the one for her bday? - disneyworldsbiggestfan  72.0 #91 11:47AM
well if it were me and I had the roomTo pack them I would bring one for each day as long as you think she would like to change her looks. I think it would be so fun. I miss having little girls and sad to say my granddaughter was never into the playing dress up😪 - mmddgp  1331.6 #5 12:42PM
My daughter is more into fashion then i am. She has to wear jewelry, scarfs, sparkly shoes, etc. Im learning from her lol. Im sure she would love to wear each dress/outfit she has. I wouldnt want to wear them because its so hot but ill give her the option. - disneyworldsbiggestfan  72.0 #91 2:28PM

Question: Do the hotels carry diapers and if not where would i find some? We wont have a car. Just wondering if i should pack 9 days of diapers or if their is a better way to get them?
They do have diapers but they are expensive. I would pack if you could then that space would become you space for you souvenirs😉 - mmddgp  1331.6 #5 8:30AM
I just checked a place that a lot of MWer have used called garden grocer. They have baby care items also and they deliver to your hotel.  - mmddgp  1331.6 #5 8:32AM

We have always packed enough diapers, maybe a little more, for our trips. That way we don't have to worry about it. And, the space that it takes up will be empty for the trip home, which means you have less to bring home or you have room for any souvenirs  - brodysmommy  467.5 #506 9:11AM

How do the magic bands work? Do they just scan the bands each time you go into a park or do they do a finger print as well? I purchased a dinning plan, but now my spouse might only be able to stay part of the time and my mom come the other half. Was wondering if it was possible to hand off the band to the other person half way through.Otherwise i think we have to make two separate reservations hot  More...
They will scan your band and your fingerprint to enter the parks. They will scan your band to purchase items, for your meals and your FPs. I'm pretty sure you cannot hand off your hubby's band to your mom. You'll have to get each one a band. - DizneyGirl  1153.9 #8 2:04PM

Is it worth getting everyone up early for the magic kingdom opening?
It's been many years since I have been to rope drop in fact never with the grandkids😁 but they do a cute show at the train station before opening once in you can get some rides out of the way before it starts getting busy. A couple years ago we got there earlier than usual and got all of tomorrow land done before our 1030 lunch at bog then our fast passes started at 1130 and had themDone before parade time. So I thought that was great - mmddgp  1331.6 #5 9:32AM

Im not even sure where to go to do this or where to go to do check in online. I know we have a few months but i want to take care of everyt  More...
Thank you for all that information!! It's a little overwhelming since the last time I went to wdw I just scanned my tickets and made reservations for dinning there. So crazy how it's changed! - disneyworldsbiggestfan  72.0 #91 8:22AM
It is very different! Good luck!! - DizneyGirl  1153.9 #8 9:17AM
It is very different but I do love the fps scheduling ahead, less making a run for it to get a ticket that may or may not be available. Dinning wise I sometimes like having ressies for them but sometimes I just want to skip it. Happy planning - mmddgp  1331.6 #5 11:28AM
Set up an account with WDW online.  Download My Disney Experience.  Link your tickets or AP to App.  Everything will flow real easy from there.  You can do everything on MDE App. and you will get emails when it's time to make dinner reservations, do FastPasses and check in on line.  If you don't download the App., it's on the WDW Website.  All you need is an account and click on it.  You can order your Magic Bands right there and they will tell you your last day to order for your trip.  It's all really easy and they let you know what you need.  They are so organized, it's scary.  We just got back and our Magic Band was all we needed for the entire trip, if we used the Credit Card on file.  Have fun. - Winnie111286  23725.9 #2 8:45AM

We've gone in September 3 times. Crowds have picked up some since we first started going in September of 2011. However, they are still pretty low. The first week is the lowest crowds, then it starts getting busier each week. - DizneyGirl  1153.9 #8 4:37AM

What is the best moderate Disney hotel? We may be upgrading! :) Also which moderate hotels are closer to the parks? I have never stayed at a moderate hotel.
I was looking at the Caribbean resort....any thoughts? - disneyworldsbiggestfan  72.0 #91 9:31AM
Stayed there and did the pirate rooms. I would not stay there again. I don't mind walking, but it was a good walk from the food court to our room. At night with sore feet that is not fun. You have to take a bus to get back to the front lobby. Which we had to do because our magic bands stopped working. Lost 30 minutes doing that. - Lelundrial  820.4 #249 10:05AM

wasn't terrible* 😂 - mrsincredible  1382.3 #4 7:38PM
We enjoyed cbr. Our building was not far from the bridge leading to the food court. We would walk over the bridge in the morning for breakfast or just coffee and catch the bus from their to the parks. In the way home at night we got off at our bus stop ( I think Jamaica)  we had a smaller pool right outside of our building which the kids loved because it was quiet but we also went to the main pool a time or two which was fun.  - mmddgp  1331.6 #5 8:18PM
We stayed at CBR a couple of years ago. It's a very big resort and there are rooms which are a walk to main pool, food court etc. We were in a standard room but a believe there are themed rooms for extra cost. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the resort - rink2  307.2 #30 9:49AM
But it was our least favourite of all the places we have stayed. Last year we did a week at AOA in a mermaid room and loved it, I would personally stay there over CBR. We are trying POR next month but we don't usually stay in the moderates. We are lucky to have DVC so it's either those properties or value. I'm sure you will love it wherever - hey it's Disney ! - rink2  307.2 #30 9:53AM
I just saw the mermaid rooms and thought they looked better than CBR. Im glad you said that!! I may just stay at a value then. - disneyworldsbiggestfan  72.0 #91 10:00AM
When we went for the kiddos b-day. I originally had booked AOA Cars room. After hearing all the complaints about noise, I switched to CBR. I ended up saving money switching to CBR. It was like $300 cheaper. - Lelundrial  820.4 #249 11:35AM
I think the mermaid ones are a lot cheaper than the cars rooms. We asked about on upgrade on check in and they wanted $1000 plus extra for the week.  - rink2  307.2 #30 11:43AM
