Does anyone know if there is a grace period to book free dining after the expired date? We have made a last minute decision to go to disney in December.

Has anyone done the dessert party before? Is it worth the money now that it is $50?
We did the mk dessert party...I really enjoyed it. You need to experience it at least once. The dessert is like the ones you eat at a disney buffet,  but great view for fireworks.  - islandgirl58  332.6 #21 4:28PM
We've done the Magic Kingdom one many times.  We like it alot. Great view of fireworks( just have to make sure after all the yummy desserts you leave your table and stand at the railings to see them.) The area where the party is held actually has a roof over most of it. The desserts are yummy and you can eat all you want to. - disneygrandma1  72.1 #83 9:37PM

Hi everyone! I am planning a birthday trip in January. We are trying to pick between Pop and all-star movies. Does anyone who has stayed there have any pros and cons of both? Thanks!!
We normally stay at pop. We really like it there the one major pro is the have there own buses and don't share them with any other resort. But we are trying all stars sports in april. So we will see. Happy planning! :) - jamiesli  44.3 #109 9:04AM
One good thing about sports is you are first on the run so that is good - mmddgp  636.5 #10 9:06AM
That's a plus. Thanks for the info! - jamiesli  44.3 #109 1:42PM
When we just went in January all the all star resorts had their own bus. And we tended to see them come before ours (pop).  - brodysmommy  410.0 #507 6:41PM
Love the theming of both but the busing is much better at the pops - mmddgp  636.5 #10 9:05AM
We have stayed at both. We picked pop this last trip because of the bus. But we saw that all the all stars had their own bus, they didn't share anymore. So I would say stay at the all stars and save $ and use it for something else.  - brodysmommy  410.0 #507 6:42PM
We've stayed at both. We love Pop! Super cute themes. Like the busses at Pop they're not shared with other resorts. Nice food court with a good variety of food.   - disneygrandma1  72.1 #83 9:20PM

Hi everyone! I have a question. With the free dining plan, I know you cannot combine with other hotel discounts such as military. But to receive the free dining plan, do you have to buy your tickets through disney? Or can I buy military discounted tickets. Thank you!
i guess you can get a "FREE" dining plan if you will pay the package WITHOUT discounts. - otilegna  2181.5 #64 8:41PM
you have to purchase at least a one day ticket for each person in your party - mmddgp  636.5 #10 2:46AM

I'm trying to plan a surprise trip for my boyfriend who is in the army. I was thinking a land and sea package or going to disney world and surrounding theme parks. Does anyone have any advice on military discounts? Or any experience with using a military discount at disney parks/cruises? Just trying to save as much money as possible! Thanks!
@otilegna may be able to help with discount information. Think Shades of Green has pretty good rates you can look into. You may want to check with a good Disney travel planner. Are you a member of AAA. Your boyfriend may have great travel benefits from USAA too. Good luck, what a great surprise! - jacdanfan  9111.8 #4 9:50AM
If your BF got an access to MWR/ITT, get the Disney Military Salute ticket... 4day park hopper is like 180 (more or less). Better to buy it there than at the parks... I heard shades of green is a good one. Never stayed there coz u need a car for that area (their bus is always busy! Lol)... Also, try the MWR/ITT IF They offer cruise tickets. - otilegna  2181.5 #64 1:55PM
also for the disney salute ticket, ur bf can only buy up to 6 for the entire promotion period... - otilegna  2181.5 #64 1:56PM
Hello! Mousesavers.com has disney cruise military discount information. Good luck! - DisneyCREWmom  164.6 #2428 4:06PM

What is the best non-expensive hotel near disney? Trying to find a hotel for the night before we check into the POP
Do you subscribe to the MouseSavers newsletter? They always send out exclusive deals that they get for hotels. They are ones that they have stayed at and are close to Disney. - kayxobelle  222.4 #34 8:50AM
The latest newsletter they had a deal for Holiday Inn Resort LBV for $64. It's like a mile from DTD, really nice hotel. We have stayed there before. Close to a lot of food. I can forward the email to you if you want. - kayxobelle  222.4 #34 8:54AM
Also, are you renting a car? If not, it's probably just easier to add an extra night at POP. At least you can use Magical Express and they get your luggage for you. - kayxobelle  222.4 #34 8:56AM
Thank you! I'll sign up for it! And we will be driving. We are just trying to cut back on our cost by staying somewhere else the night we stay, it'll save us about a $100(: thanks so muh! - amandapanda3  39.3 #116 10:08AM

Hi everyone! I kinda have a strange question. I am on new medicine that causes my eyes to be extremely dry. So during my trip I have to wear my glasses. I have never worn my glasses to Disney world before. So I guess my question is for people with glasses, do you normally leave your glasses on during rides for example space mountain and splash mountain? Or do you take them off? Thanks!
Id say, space mountain it's dark anyways so just take then off to be safe. Splash I would think your be fine. I wear contacts also but always have sunglasses on so that's my thought on it :) - brodysmommy  410.0 #507 7:04PM
If anythjng just get a pair of elastic bands that attach to the arms of the glasses. On the rides you can wear them around your neck until you're done then pop them back on. - IndyandMarion  1278.9 #1 7:06PM
I have worn glasses for 30 years and have never had a problem :) - mzdisnee  521.3 #13 7:43PM

I'm going to Disney may 18-24. How do soft openings work? Is there a small possibility that seven dwarfs mine train will open?
Basically operations/OSHA will say "ok, let's test the ride from this time to this time". It's a matter of the right place and right time. Please do not be like these fools/idiots who go solely with the purpose of waiting from park open to close at the ride for the hope the ride. Soft openings may not even happen. They aren't required to do them at all. - IndyandMarion  1278.9 #1 12:20PM

Has anyone stayed at All Star Music before? If so, what are your thoughts? 24 days until my trip!
We have stayed at music and I think it's great for the price you pay. Some buildings can be far from the food court and bused but we always have a car so it never bothered us. - bearlove  126.9 #2997 6:46PM
I haven't, but so excited for your countdown! - mrsincredible  1061.4 #4 6:48PM
Thank you! I'm used to staying at moderate/ deluxe with my family. But now that I'm on my own I have a budget. So I'm excited to try a new resort! - amandapanda3  39.3 #116 8:24PM
Why not. You'll be at Disney - 5disneylovers  1002.9 #5 8:28PM
We have stayed there twice. Once in 1996 and again in 2008. It had not really changed any during that time. The rooms are small, but we were rarely in them so it did not matter. I do remember the walk to the lobby and buses. It was quite a hike! I did not make reservations for the trip, but I'm sure my friend that did chose the cheapest rate available. I would've paid extra for a preferred room especially after the walk that we had to make every day. - leveretttltl  89.5 #75 7:26AM

A group of friends and I wanted to stay at all star movies. One friend said she can't afford it and wants to stay off property. I have never stayed off property before. Any suggestions on hotels to stay at? And does it ruin it to stay off property?
Stayed off property once, never again! Make sure to factor in daily parking if going to stay off property. And shorter hours because you can't do extra magic hours. - Betsyboo  21.5 #158 9:17PM
So true. It sounds cheaper sometimes to stay off site but transportation can add up quickly. Also for us we so rarely make it to WDW we want to immerse ourselves in it and love the extra hours hotel guests get - PracticallyPerfectLisa  117.3 #3195 4:46AM
We've stayed off property. If you have any specific questions let me know. Staying on property is convenient and the resorts are fun because they are decorated and have great amenities. However, the vacation is what you make it and since we can no longer stay on site, we find a great place to stay and make it fun!! - DizneyGirl  758.6 #7 4:41AM
Many hotels have shuttles to and from the parks. This would help avoid the parking fee which does add up. - DizneyGirl  758.6 #7 4:44AM
I stayed off property in April to save money, but honestly it cost about the same in the end and it wasn't as convenient or magical. My sister and I didn't know the roads well and got turned around a few times. I prefer the Disney bus system. - mrsincredible  1061.4 #4 5:51AM
