Hi MW, haven't been feeling to good the past few days, sorry about the wait in Gianna's update. Basically two more blood test were done in the past two weeks, so far all have come back fine, thank goodness for that. Waiting on results for another blood test. Hopefully this will be it on blood work for awhile. I have changed Gia's doctor, this one is much nicer, and much more empathetic towards me and my baby girl. (still trying to convince insurance to allow me to go to CHOP, it's not an easy process), we changed to another medication for her head, we have to wait 4 weeks to see if there is any change in the hair growing back. Gianna thankfully does not have to go back to the doctors untill the end of the month. She is such a brave and good little girl, her smile and heart inspire me everyday, this has been tough to go through with her, however at the end of the day she is happy, and the words "mommy I love you" makes it alittle easier to handle. Thank you again for all of your love and prayers and support.

Hi mousewaiters, I know it's been a few days, been abit busy. Gianna was in a peprally for cheerleading, when she competes in two years, if they place in regionals they get to go to DISNEY for nationals, she did a great job at the peprally , she landed her running roundoff, and everyone was cheering for her, she was so happy afterwards. She was very nervous, this picture was taken by the photographer just before they were starting. Now for an update...started using the cream on her head but dr. Said it will take awhile before we will see anything if it works. Gia goes to the doctor this Tuesday, however I am trying to get her into Childs Hospital of Philly, insurance doesn't cover it, but her doctor is trying to convince the insurance company to allow me to go out of network. I find Gianna now looking in the mirror alot lately, she asks me at least five times a day if her hair is growing back..... It breaks my heart to see her worry about it, at five she should be worried about what toy she is going to play with next, not is my hair fallen out. It has been tough on her, but I just try to stay positive and reassure her that no matter what, she is one beautiful little girl.....inside and out.
What a beautiful talented girl Gianna is. She can do a running roundoff at 5?? Amazing! Her doctor will convince your insurance company I'm sure. It's for the health of a child. Unless the company is run by Scrooge I think you'll be approved. She should be having a fun time as a kid not worrying about anything. Her hair will be back. It's just going to take some time. We got alittle Disney Magic in the mail today.......Thank you so much mzdisnee, Gianna was so happy and surprised, and she loved the story, I had to read it five times in a row for her. I have to agree with disneygal. I worked in a dermatology office and we had a lot of people come in and get the shots. It was amazing to see their hair regrowing. So hang in there. Everything will be ok. ((hugs)) - Schramke

Hi mouse waiters, doctors couldn't give me answer why this is happening to Gianna, they said it could be a form of Alopita, the blood work came back fine, now they are sending her for more bloodwork, as the doctors told me, the hair may or may not grow back, it may never happen again, or she can get even more patches or potentially lose all her hair. I am sorry that I don't have an answer yet, this is all very confusing and tough to deal with. Thank you everyone for Everything, I just hope sooner then later some doctor can tell me what and why this is happening. They told Gianna that they wanted to give her a shot in her head, needless to say that didn't happen. So he gave us a prescription for a topical to use on her head. Hopefully it will work. Will take her for the bloodwork this week.

Yoho I know this doesnt help bc I am not a dr. however I work in a dermatology office and know a lot about alopecia.. Thats actually good news lab work came out normal! That hopefully means she does not have an auto immune disease! We see tons of children and adults with this. Hopefully its just a fluke and her immune system attacked that patch of hair! Topical steroids do help and the shots work wonders along with however I get it in her age who wants to do it! I wish you all the best and if you have any questions let me know. - Disneygal727

I wanted to Thank everyone for all your kind and helpful words and prayers. It does make this just alittle bit easier, today was a tough day, hopefully tomorrow will be better. The other day I was doing my daughters hair and I had noticed that a nickel size patch of hair was missing on her head. It freaked me out and so I rushed her to the doctor. The dr said that it was not pulled or forced out, it is a completely clean bald patch on the top of her head. They are now testing my baby girl for all different things now, and it is killing me that she has to now get poked and prodded at. She is very scared because she does not understand what is going on. It is breaking my heart because I just don't know what to do, but wait. I am strong for her because she reacts to my actions, but in closed rooms I just cant stop crying. I am so scared of what it could be

Date set for next year trip, August 24, 2012, staying 10 days again, question is.... Which moderate resort to stay at? Did Carribean Beach and loved it, but I am willing to try another, traveling with 9 year old boy and 6 year old girl. Is there any other theme room at the other resorts?
