Since we drive to WDW I buy the girls a 'gift/surprise' for each day of our trip. Last year I put them in lunch bags with the Tinkerbell crew on them and they opened one per day, things like: a trading pin, a vinylmation, a autograph book, etc. This year I'm only doing it on the days we are actually on the road, there's so many exciting things at WDW there's no need to have them for days during our stay. So today, I bought a DS game for the trip there and another for the way home (got GREAT deals on eBay!). I've also gotten them Muppet vinylmations! Anyone got another ideas?
I like your car idea! On long car trips, my girls earn a dollar for each hour there is no complainin or whining. Then, when we get to our destination, they have a little more spending $. Now, they don't complain and I don't even have to remind them. :) - BagGal

Fun! I do the little gifts too, one each day. Last trip I gave my girls a Minnie necklace, a pin, some Minnie lip gloss, etc, etc. My mom comes with us and she can't resist giving them little gifts too. The girls had so much fun with the surprises we gave them, they didn't ask to buy anything at any of the shops until the last day we were there. - BagGal

I want to share something special we have done for every vacation since our kids were born. We get a postcard from places we stay (not just pass through) and write on them what we have done and mail it home. We usually send 2 or 3 from WDW, since we are there longer. It's a great souvenir, they are cheap and easily found, plus the girls know what all they did when they read it later. We put them in a 3 ring binder in plastic pages made for photographs!

Getting ready to buy a new lens for our upcoming trip. I am so new to DSLR and am so confused. I want to get some awesome photos . . . . what lens do you use and does it take great photos? Especially at night?

A tripod will help, but it's not needed. You can shoot with a basic night portrait setting and get some pretty decent shots. Jalex will be able to better assist you since he's the Canon guy of the group. - IndyandMarion

All of my shots (most are on flickr or DL side) are either from the 18-55mm or 55-250mm and I really don't have a need for another lens. I also have a Sigma 10-20mm super wide angle, but that mainly just sits in my bag during trips to the park. I have gotten many very detailed shots at night and on dark attractions (Haunted Mansion, Pirate, etc) from these lenses Feel free to check my profile on the DL side for examples.) - shadowgamer

So, many of you know that I cannot keep a secret, so that rules out surprising the girls with a trip to WDW. So, this year I decided to not mention which resort(s) we are staying at. My 9 year old saw my agenda and saw the days that say checking into AKL and checking into BC. As you guessed it, she has pretty much figured it out, but I won't confirm anything with her and since I book next week I still have time to change my mind, LOL!! Darn kids, can't keep a secret from them no matter how hard I try!!
I put down the deposit for our trip next year. It is for my son's tenth b-day. I was going through possible hotel choices. I just said it was for a future trip. He also doesn't know which hotel we are staying at. Art of Animation ended up being more than I planned since we don't want to be in the Little Mermaid room. So I told him it cost more then All Stars. Made the deposit while he put his laundry away for AoA, Cars suite. I am keeping it secret for as long as possible. - Lelundrial
