Hello, and welcome! We live in Olympia, and we are also going to DW in October. We will be staying at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. Florida is hot, humid, and mostly sunny. Hi and welcome! I'm from England so the Florida weather is very different although I have to admit I love it ! I am a notorious non- planner although FP+ has changed that slightly. I am lucky to be able to visit at least once a year so I usually get to do the things I miss on one trip on the next! Even after so many visits though I have not seen or done everything WDW had to offer and of course there are always new attractions and experiences. I believe the maps are available on line both to order and to view. I would decide what things you really want to see/do and plan around those. Also depends on the crowds as to what you can fit in. If you want table service you maybe a bit late to make reservations, although there always seem to be walk ups to be had. I would get the My Dusney Experience app if you haven't all ready - invaluable for info and planning. Wifi is free in the parks and resorts. If you can, mickeys not so scary Halloween party is not to be missed! I have no doubt you will absolutely love it! Octobers almost here! Hope that helps - rink2  77.0 #74 12:11AM
Thanks for the suggestions! I did just download the app and its great! I'm used to rain so I'm actually hoping for some and maybe lighter crowds :) - randirella  305.7 #765 8:54AM
Hello, and welcome! We live in Olympia, and we are also going to DW in October. We will be staying at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. Florida is hot, humid, and mostly sunny. Be sure to bring sun block, and stay hydrated. You can always walk into any quick meal service and get free ice water. (Saves allot from paying for bottled.) They do have occasional heavy downpours with thunder and lightening, so bring light ponchos from the Dollar Store. You can buy them at the parks, but they cost several dollars. Oct. weather cools down a little. Mid 60s to low 70s at night, and low 80s in the day is the average. (The locals think that the 60's are "freezing"!) ;) If you haven't yet, plan and reserve those dining reservations now! Many restaurants book very, very quickly. DW is huge. Don't try to do everything in one trip. Relax and enjoy the little things as well, like the cool birds and beautiful flowers that we don't have here. You can create your own customized Disney World maps at this website... http://customizedmaps.disney.go.com - PixieDust76  79.0 #69 1:33AM
Wow- you're from Seattle too?! We are on Mercer Island and are very fond of the rain. Great idea for the ponchos! I have no idea where the dollar stores are here but I'll grab some ponchos :) - randirella  305.7 #765 8:56AM
Thank you EVERYONE For all your help and feedback, I'm excited to visit. If anyone has any questions about Disneyland I'm happy to help :-) - randirella  305.7 #765 11:01AM

We are flying the red eye on Oct. 24th, and then staying at the Hyatt at MCO to rejuvenate. We check in at the Caribbean on the 26th.
If you're referring to Wine & Dine, the course does go through the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights. However, the race is in the middle of the night (10 pm until 4 am) so the parks are closed. - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  867.2 #3 11:47AM

I think I must have missed something, too. ?? The only thing I've noticed is the occasional rant, which I myself am guilty of doing at least once. (Though I know we're not really supposed to.)
I agree! I love learning about the differences between the parks, and the opinions/reviews shared here are very, very helpful!! However, sometimes there seems to be a "my park is better than your park" feeling in the air. - BagGal  224.1 #31 11:11AM
No one has said anything bad!  Please don’t take what I posted the wrong way.  I just wanted to express how I felt on the subject, because I don’t want to see anyone’s feelings get hurt.  Maybe I am just being overly sensitive, but I have seen a few comments lately (specifically comparing DL to DW) that have come across rather strong.  Of course it’s okay to share opinions, reviews, and differences between parks/resorts – that’s one of the things I love about this lounge!  Are there rides or attractions that could be improved in one park or the other?  Of course!  But, just because someone feels something from one park isn't up to standard in comparison, it still may hold special meaning and precious memories for someone else.  I am just asking that we are all mindful of how we express differences of opinion, no matter the subject.  I don’t think any of us would want Disney World to be an exact replica of Disneyland/DCA or vice versa.  Both parks are special and unique and should be celebrated, because both represent what we all hold dear – Disney! - mrsincredible  809.1 #5 12:40PM
Yes I love how both parks have some same things and some different! That's what makes us want to travel to both! The reason we go to dl 2-3 times a year is because it's. 6-7 hour drive and that's all. It saves us tons of $ to drive and not fly. So for WDW we have to pay for 4 flights, soon to be 5, so it's a lot harder to save that much more $ for it. But yeah, I don't think k one park is better than another.. They are both unique and everyone has their own preferences but it should never be a debate of which park is better. They are all awesome!! :) - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 12:44PM
I am especially looking forward to visiting DL for the first time next year!  I think about it all the time and it's over a year away, lol! - mrsincredible  809.1 #5 12:48PM
