In NYC - Times Square at Disney Store
a Palm Sunday gift from a friend.
Merry Christmas. Sadie, my Chocolate Lab, is enjoying her Christmas Gift...a Mickey Chew Toy. Christmas means a lot of things to a lot of people. I hope it is everything you hoped it would be. In Ridgway, Pa, we are celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the CHRISTMAS DAY HAPPENING. It is a community event of fun, food and fellowship. We'll provide approximately 250 Christmas dinners at our local fire hall and make just as many home deliveries. My mother-in-law started this with a friend 30 years ago, to bring some cheer to a few elderly folks who'd be alone for Christmas. It has grown into a HUGE community event. It is our family tradition. How do you celebrate Christmas where you are?
Yeah! It's the Christmas season again. Time to decorate the hallowed halls of our school. I, of coarse, HAD to put my Disney twist on it. My students made all of these decorations (under my supervision). Oogie Boogie's head is attached to a motor, so it moves. In a previous post, someone asked what I teach. I teach Industrial Technology Program for High School students (10th, 11th, 12th). I teach drafting, electricity, welding, hydraulics & pneumatics, and mechanical systems. We do a lot of hands-on projects in wood and metal. Lots of bells, whistles, horns, lights, and even pneumatic cannons once in a while. I love my second career (retired Navy) because it affords me an opportunity to expand young minds in a fun and useful way.

When I gave my students the assignment to make whirly-gigs, I decided to do one too. This is my "not-so" Little Mermaid.
My student finally completed his Mickey Mouse Whirly- Gig.
Here is a Whirly-gig one of my students is working on. One of the classes I teach is Fluid Power. Since pneumatics is all about the power of air I assigned all of my students to create a whirly-gig. Most did ducks and birds, but one asked if he could do Mickey Mouse. Of course I HAD to let him. I'll post a finished product when he's through.
Finished Product: 1 Tie-Dyed Cheese Cake. Red Velvet cake crust - Psychedelic Cheese Cake top. One down, another one to go. This makes 16 slices and I have 22 students. So, here I go with round two. This came out beautifully - no cracks. The first one I ever made had a huge crack down the middle. That led me to research why. Now, I add my eggs last, cook it in a water bath, and let each stage of the process go slowly. Cutting it is also an art. A chef taught me...Only one cut with the knife. Then you have to run the knife under hot water and clean it off before making the next cut. This is sure a lot of work.
My students have been begging me to make them a Tie-Dyed Cheese Cake. Some of them got to sample one I made last year for a faculty lunch. I told them, "Do you know how much it cost to make one of those? An envelope (with $10) appeared on my desk Friday. It said, "Tie-Dye Cheese Cake...Anonymous Donor." So now I am making them a cheese cake.
Can anyone figure out what WDW inspired thing I am about to do?

MOMWITHAJUICEBOX- BUZZ - Thank you for the RAK. The Mousewait Lanyard is awesome.
Can we see a pattern emerging here?
Today is NATIONAL CONSTITUTION DAY: the birthday of the Government of the good ol' US of A. (since Disney distributes School House Rock, I can mention it here). In my classes today, I am showing my students the several SHR History Rock videos and we are going to discuss our Government. I used to watch these EVERY SATURDAY as a kid. I think an all around favorite is "I'M JUST A BILL." I think about the Chaos in the world over this "Innocense of Islam" video and I am quickly reminded of our students FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHT to FREEDOM OF SPEECH.
Have you checked out the NEW GOOGLE EARTH? All I can say is, "INCREDIBLE." So I navigated to my favorite spot...WOW! You can get down to ground level, as if you are really standing on main street. There are little picture squares everywhere and after you click on them, a photo from that spot appears. It even has a flight simulator, so you can fly around WDW, or anywhere else in the world. I am sure there's more, but I have yet to discover it yet. Needless to say, I will be visiting WDW, via GOOGLE EARTH, quite often. ENJOY!
