You may never look at Disneyland the same way. I grew up out there as a child too. Moved back East and started going to WDW. Visited Disneyland last summer and was disappointed. So very small in comparison. Still its Disney.

I was a dlander most of my life but moved to mid-west and became hooked on WDW. It made the first trip back to dland feel like it was miniature. Besides the immense size of WDW and 4 parks, be prepared for the differences Haunted Mansion is Brick and pirates is not the same, I miss not having the blue buyou at WDW. Embrace WDW don't spend your time comparing. Restaurants you may consider Be our Guest for Lunch be there before it opens at 10:30(we got in line at 10:15 and were probably 120 back), Boma at Animal Kingdom has different but good food, Chef Mickeys at Contemporaty is wild and crazy fun. Beaches and Cream at Beach Club is a fun soda fountain feel. Have Fun - Betsyboo

So sorry to hear. I've been on the DL side and I've seen a lot of things happen over there that I don't like. So that's why I venture to this sure since everyone can be nicer over here. The only thing I can say is to block them and move on and try to not let them ruin your Disney love. That's what I have done. But take care and hope to see you in the future :) - brodysmommy

Twice we've stayed off Property in the family member's Time Share ($100 for the week). They had shuttle busses - you just have to plan your schedule on bus schedules. Or you could rent a car and pay parking. Everyone has a shuttle to Disney. We save a ton of money staying off property but enjoyed it much more staying on property.
If you stay off property I recommend renting a car. We stayed off property this past August and I didn't like it. The hotel had a shuttle but it only went to Epcot. Which means we basically were hurrying at the end of the night to get from MK/HS back to Epcot so we didn't miss our shuttle. It was to much of a scramble for me, and just took away from the relaxing effect of my vacation. I don't know what your price point is, but we stayed at the Embassy Suites at 8978 International Drive. Rooms are clean, and free breakfast in the morning. There are also a decent amount of restaurants in the area, and a Walgreens within walking distance just in case. I could see the Contemporary Resort and giant golf ball from our room. - Lelundrial
