I met a young princess today, she was probably around 9 years old. Although she was quite beautiful her crown would not stay in place because this young princess did not have any hair. She was dressed in full princess regalia, including her trusty steed (her wheel chair). She and her entourage were leaving the park for the evening. I asked how their day had been and they replied that it had be a terrific, wonderful day. We spent some time together talking and the princess’ mom tells me that due to the princesses' condition this will most likely be her last visit to the park. I asked if her day had been all that it could be and she replied “yes, however the princess was bit disappointed that although she saw some Disney princesses in the parade she did not actually get to meet any of them face to face". I asked them if they would do me a favor and allow the princess to pay a visit to President Lincoln before they left for the day, they agreed. This allowed 15 minutes for magic to happen, and…… it did. The princess and her family were the last to exit the theater. I caught up them and I spoke to the princess, I said “ your Majesty, word has reached our princesses that are visiting their kingdom today. They would be most please if you would grace them with a short visit” And with that we turned her around and she found herself in the company of Snow White, Cinderella and Belle. The four Princess had a great time discussing princess type things and exchanging autographs. When their visit was complete I escorted them towards the exit. The little princess look up at me and asked my for my autograph too. I was humbled but could not say no to a princess. As I was signing the book her mom said to me “we can’t thank you all enough” to which I replied “you already have”. Where else, I ask you, can you find this kind of magic?
On my way soon! Why do I start?
BAMBI, Disney's fifth full-length animated film was release for the first time on this date, August 13th 1942. Bambi was produced for Under a million dollars but still lost money on the first release largely due to the war. But since as taken in more the $250,000.000.00 and received three Academy Award nominations. Happy Birthday Bambi!
Tomorrow is the Haunted Mansion's birthday! Aug. 9, 1969 – Haunted Mansion opens at Disneyland Park
Welcome, foolish mortals! Walk through a cemetery-like garden to the steps of a pale white manor overlooking the Rivers of America, where you’ll enter a chamber with no windows and no doors. Find your way out and board a “doom buggy” to venture deeper into this eerie home, encountering Madame Leota leading a séance, waltzing ghosts at a swinging wake and a bride who’s a “cut” above the rest. Nine hundred and ninety-nine happy haunts live here, but there’s room for a thousand … any volunteers? Although the attraction debuted in 1969, the mansion itself was built in 1962, sitting vacant for several years as work on the interior was delayed by Disney’s projects for the 1964 World’s Fair. Haunted Mansion was also an opening day attraction at both Magic Kingdom Park and Tokyo Disneyland. Phantom Manor at Disneyland Resort Paris and the upcoming Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disneyland put their own unique twists on this cadaverous classic.
I will be at WDW starting on Feb. 1st. My first visit. I can't wait to make some memories. Hope to see some of you then!
it's a world of laughter,
a world or tears
its a world of hopes,
its a world of fear
there's so much that we share
that its time we're aware
its a small world after all
4th of July post. We started the firework celebration on the 1st This year. I am visiting with guest as we pass the time together on main street. The day has finally cooled down and everyone is relaxed and enjoying a little down time in anticipation of the show. And I find myself thinking “I wonder how many of the guest will appreciate the patriotic theme of tonight’s show? I can tell by their accent or language and their looks that they are not all Americans” As I walked to the north end of Main Street U.S.A. I pause at the Partners statue and looked south towards the train station. I view the sea of guest. And I was humbled. How can I begin to question who here is an American.? My family is not originally from the U.S. Many of the people in this congregation have worked long and hard to make their dream of becoming a citizen a reality. Diversity is what makes America great. I decided that tonight I will not face the castle and watch the fireworks but I, instead, will look south. I look at the faces in the flashes of light. I see the tears in the eyes. I see many standing in quite awe and respect. And I find myself, again, thanking God that I am free. Free to live here, free to work here and free to celebrate here. I resolve to never again judge another by the way the sound or look. I will assume that each person is as loyal and patriotic as I am unless they prove otherwise. Tomorrow night however…..I am watching the fireworks.
This is probably not considered quality content but I must say I love my job. I have had two days off and I can't wait to get back. Tonight I will be pushing the button that sends folks on the ride of their lives. A 3 min and 30 seconds thrill that will make up just one small part of a magical day. It may be their 1st time on the attraction or they may know it by heart. Either way they are there because they want to be. I may get to spend time in the film room chatting with guest about their day. Maybe I will be assigning them to seat and rows and fulfilling request to be in the front row or "can I drive'?!? I will hand out honorary citizen buttons to awesome kids and wish Happy Birthday to old friends I just met. Time fly's when you are celebrating all day long. And just like on Mouse Wait, the are few guest that are having a bad day and try to bring others down do not even make a noticeable ripple in the magic. Each night as I leave the park, the guest are gone, Main street is still light up, I walk alone right down the middle of the tracks and thank God that I work at the Happiest Place on Earth. Yes, it may sound cheesy to some, but hey... I work for mouse. See you in the park.
I always have said "when I grow up I am going to get a real job". I have come to realize that at this point there is little hope for either. Come have some fun when you need to feel like a kid again. See you soon! Have a magical day!
I am new here to the WDW mouse wait so I wanted to say hi. so..."Hi" Just a bit of my take on Disney: To truly enjoy magic one must suspend their disbelief. Magic is best when you participate. A magicians efforts are useless without a willing audience. Go ahead and let down your guard, let your imagination take the wheel. Enjoy the trip. Don’t worry, the real world will be there when you get back. Stroll down a turn of the century small town main street where everyone is your neighbor and the shop owners greet you with a smile. Become an explorer, then a pirate, then a princess. Fly an elephant or a rocket, or both. Careening down a snowy mountain or souring over a California desert it is all magic. For some it takes practice, buying in, committing to fantasy. But once you do it becomes reality, you become part of the show, part of the magic. For some it will remain just sleight of hand, smoke and mirrors. For others, knowing the secretes adds to the thrill. For many, Knowing the mechanics behind the magic renders it mundane. But I have enough reality being thrown at me each day. So as for me, I will check my disbelief at the gate and believe in magic.
What an awesome day to meet thousands of new friends. Have fun exploring. See you in Adventureland!
Hi. Just checking in to see how our east coast friends are doing.
