What's a good site to look at that usually lists what rides are being refurbished? And when does the calendar usually posts for the hours for the parks? I know for Disneyland they only go about a month to maybe a month and a half in advance for hours but wasn't sure if WDW published theirs sooner :) thanks!!!

The Disney website has park hours 6 months out, but they do change, so keep an eye on them.  As far as refurbishments, those are also on Disney's website, but you can also find them at allears.net or touringplans.com!  I also have a site:  http://dizneygirl70.wix.com/dizneygirl#!news  with refurbs, it also has a crowd calendar link, to help you plan which park, which days :) - DizneyGirl  600.5 #8 4:06AM

So excited! Made flights yesterday for January! Now just have to book the room this weekend :) its 195 days out right now. So when do we get to make the fp reservations? And is the 180 day mark just for the sit down restaurant meals? Just curious what we will need to be planning soon and when :) thanks!!!
180 days for sit down restaurants, 60 days for selecting fastpass+ and online check-in. - disneycm  556.3 #10 12:31PM
Ok great thanks!! We haven't been in almost 5 years so things have changed now :) - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 12:45PM
How exciting! Where will you be staying? - DizneyGirl  600.5 #8 1:24PM
We think prob Pop. We haven't booked the room yet. But will this weekend. But my husband also wants to look in to the possibility of using people's dvc rooms and staying at the animal kingdom. But we would need either 4 rooms or 2 suites (which I doubt we could find) - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 2:34PM
Sounds like a big gathering, how fun.  I'm sure you will love Pop, many, many good reviews on it. - DizneyGirl  600.5 #8 5:56PM
Yeah we have both sets of grandparents going and then another couple who the kids call auntie (she's my MiL's friend that goes to dl with us and then her husband) but him and my FIL plan to golf the whole time while we do the parks. And then my brother is coming for the holiday weekend since he can't take time off work. But it'll still be fun! - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 6:50PM
Sounds awesome - DizneyGirl  600.5 #8 7:55PM
You'll like Pop. Been there several times, and we love it. - PixieDust76  79.0 #69 8:06PM
Oh good!! Yeah I wanted something other than the all stars since we stayed there the last 2 times. My husband would rather stay there and save some $ but we had his issues last time and with 3 kids this time I don't want to deal with that :) - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 8:33PM

Yeah since it's a slower season the buses may be fine. We were there early December last time and they had the Xmas party going on... The his wait was over and hour in the cold. Luckily I was able to cut in line since I had Brody who was 9 months old and my dad and husband left the parks before my mom and I did. So my parents just don't want to run into that again - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 5:07AM

Ok, I'm sure this question has been asked before, but wanted to ask again :) does the pop century have it's own bus? I believe it does (where the all stars share a bus) but I want to make sure since we always had a long wait at all stars for the bus. Also, difference between pop and say port Orleans. We have 3 sets if adults (grandparents) going and us, family of 5. Just curious if port Orleans is  More...
Pops has its own buses. It is our valu of choice! We only upgrade if there is free dinning then it is worth it to us. Otherwise I think you will enjoy the pops - mmddgp  413.2 #17 9:23AM
Thanks so much!! - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 4:49PM
I agree with Gayle. Upgrade if there are free dining offer... I never stayed at any moderate so i cannot stay on that. I stay at Value because i just go there to sleep and shower! POP is a good choice! also, i like their food court!!! - otilegna  1779.5 #69 4:15PM
And you can also walk across the bridge and eat at AOA food court also which is nice and the grounds are great - mmddgp  413.2 #17 4:20PM
Otilegna- we only sleep and shower there also by my father in law is possibly wanting the 'step up' hotel... But it's like $700 more for the week and my husband doesn't really want to pay that. But I want something new and not the all stars again so that's why I suggested POP. But the free dining isn't offered, yet, so we are hoping it gets extended. But then if you stay at moderate isn't it more restaurants that you get than the quick service? With the kids we prefer quick service meals - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 4:52PM
hmmm, not sure about the restaurants at moderate resorts... i saw a picture that they have 1 table service and a quick service (that is the carribbean beach)...  - otilegna  1779.5 #69 4:55PM
also if the price is somewhat close, go for the family suite at AoA :) - otilegna  1779.5 #69 4:56PM
The family suites are more expensive and the lady in the phone told me AoA isn't connected with the free dining, if they offer it :( so that's why we would do Pop - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 6:52PM
The free dining with Pop Is quick service, however you can pay the difference and upgrade if you like :) - brittandkell  372.6 #525 6:53PM
Yeah we really only want the quick service. We aren't really restaurant or sit down dinner type people when we are at dl so jot really interested in it at WDW either. Plus with the kids, we don't even take them out to dinner here at home much cuz they lose interest after 30-45 mins so we don't want to run I to those problems :) so for the dining, we would prefer the quick service really - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 8:26PM
Unfortunately the Family suite is no where near Close To the pop century price. It is cheaper to get two connecting rooms. Here is what we do and we are ways trying to stretch the budget. We book pops with Disney room discount if there is one or with Disney visa discount or AAA discount( which ever is greater) then watch for specials. If they grow the dinning at you, for us that is the deal maker! Now if you are not into sit downs stay at the pops and get the free qs. Or if you want to upgrade to a moderate, modify your reservation to the new resort and get the ts and qs I have found that it ends up costing us about 150. More for the week for the room and dinning. Another option is that you can upgrade to a moderate and even though you have a ts and qs you can opt to only do the qs. But try and do maybe a lunch character ts the kids maybe really entertained and you will love it as much if not more than them. And if you have their grandparent with you the will live it also. Btw how old are your? - mmddgp  413.2 #17 11:01PM
Mmddgp- We are planning to go in January so Brody will be almost 6, Brooklyn almost 3 and Blake will just have turned 1. What do you mean by upgrade to the new resort? Yeah I think the kids would enjoy the characters but we just hate to hassle with the sit down meals. It can either be fun or too stressful with them. And with so many people we would have to break up in groups for the meals so it would be easier etc so that's why we would rather just do the QS. I'll have to look at the aaa discount and see if there is anything for that time. Thanks! - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 2:34AM
" not New" just different. Sorry wrong choice of words. I just mean that if you did book pops originally under a room only discount and then the free dinning plan came along you could upgrade to moderate hotel if you wanted to take advantage of the ts and qs. If that does not interest you then it is not worth it. Your kids are at great ages I know the 6 and 3 yr old would so enjoy it. How many of you are going, in aug we travel with 8 and the year we traveled with friends there were 12 and 13 and we all sat together. What ever you decide to do is great and you will have an awesome time - mmddgp  413.2 #17 5:21AM
There are my parents going, my in laws going, and another set who is like a grama (she goes to dl with us cuz my father in law doesn't care to go so she goes in his place) but her husband and my after in law plan to just golf all week and not really do the parks with us. And not sure if all 4 of them will golf at a time or 2 also. So it'll be my parents and us the whole trip for sure. And maybe my brother for the MLK weekend since he can't take time off work but he can fly out for a couple days over the weekend :) - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 8:20AM
I really prefer Orleans Riverside over Pop. We have stayed at POR twice and Pop once. Our experience with Pop was so bad that I swore I wouldn't stay there again - even if the WHOLE trip was free. I know that many people on MW have had wonderful experiences there. Ours was anything but. The only thing that I can say that is positive about the resort is the bus service was good. And we were there during New Years! - DznylndFamily  3.9 #596 9:51PM
I'm sorry to hear :( yeah, we are still trying to figure out what all the 'adults' want to do (grandparents). So we are trying to get their input also - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 2:35AM
I'm sorry also that you did not have a good experience we have always had good ones - mmddgp  413.2 #17 5:22AM
They are totally different atmospheres. PO Riverside is quite special - it's beautiful and seems laid back and peaceful. It's nice being able to take the boat to DTD, but you do share the bus with POFQ and I think they stop there first. We also loved the POP just because we don't spend much time there, you have dedicated buses and the food court is good. We paid a little extra for the premium room for the better location but there's definitely more hustle bustle there. Good luck with your choice! - goofygal  6690.3 #8 5:30AM
Better location, does that mean closer to the buses and food court? I wouldn't mind doing that since we have the little ones. Or a better view? I saw a pool view was a little more? Just curious cuz we just did standard room is all - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 8:17AM
Yes!  We just upgraded at Pop, and now we'll be in the 50's or 60's building (closest to the food court, buses, and lobby). - mrsincredible  808.2 #5 10:17AM
Mrs I- did you upgrade to standard pool view, preferred room or preferred pool view? - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 12:24PM
Preferred Room.  We likely won't be swimming in Nov, so I didn't go for the Pool View this trip.  Preferred will still get you in the 50's or 60's building with the least walking.  We were in the 90's building in April this year.  We were there 2-3 days before we realized you could cut through the parking lot to get to the buses, lol!  Man, those first few days were a killer getting back to our room.  It's a LONG walk if you go through the resort. - mrsincredible  808.2 #5 12:28PM
Thanks for the tip!! - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 12:47PM
I believe 70s is also preferred and yes preferred is closer to food court and buses. Its worth it! - goofygal  6690.3 #8 12:59PM
Great! Looks like preferred is only $100 more so I think I'll be able to talk my husband in to that... Closer to buses and food will really be nice with the kids! We were always in the way back at all stars and had to give ourselves so much extra time in the am to get to the buses on time! It'll be nice to jr have to give that much time this time around - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 1:47PM

Who all has been to WDW during MLK weekend in January? We are planning our trip for presidents week next year but I just called and the lady said it's already filling up fast with valentines day and the marathon. There are three deluxe hotels: Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club or you could consider the Dolphin and Swan. They are not owned by Disney (I believe they're Marriott properties) but they are located on property. Premium locations come at a premium price! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  867.0 #3 12:30PM
None are disney? Didn't know that. Yeah we are thinking moderate this time. I thought deluxe was what the lower end resorts are called? In drawing a blank. Thinking port Orleans for the next trip. We have stayed at music and movies resort the last 2 times - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 12:35PM
The Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club are Disney. The Dolphin and Swan are not. All Stars are Value Resorts, Port Orleans is a Moderate Resort, and the Boardwalk area resorts are all Deluxe or Deluxe Villa (DVC) Resorts. - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  867.0 #3 12:43PM
Yes... Value... Couldn't think of the name :) yeah moderate is pushing it for my husband so there is no way he'd go for deluxe! Thank you! :) - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 12:59PM
Do price out the Dolphin and Swan. They are less expensive than Disney's Deluxe Resorts. - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  867.0 #3 1:02PM
Ok I will. Thanks!! - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 8:01PM
We usually stay at the dolphin. They also have magic hrs. Rooms are pretty big. - islandgirl58  256.6 #25 9:47PM
Dolphin is about 230 a night, and swan about 235-240. Both have extra magic hrs. - islandgirl58  256.6 #25 9:50PM
Yes it is at the boardwalk hotel and yatch and beach club. It is really great place to watch a game or race - mmddgp  413.2 #17 12:30PM
Buses do go there from any of the parks or DTD. We have walked there from Epcot as a break in the day, had dinner watched some of the race and headed back to Epcot. You can also do this by taking the boat from studios. This would also be a good plan after an Ak day since it is not open late. You could take the bus from Ak to the boardwalk hotel and go To Espn club from there. - mmddgp  413.2 #17 7:42PM
Yeah just trying to see what hotels are close to less bus traveling :) - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 8:02PM
You can also just grab a cab. We stayed at Pop and went to Beach Club for breakfast but it was too early to take a bus and change somewhere. The could take it to the Boardwalk and just stroll through the lobby and out the back to the shopping area. ESPN is just to the right. - mzdisnee  451.0 #13 8:26PM
Thanks! Yeah last time we weeny some took a cab over to margaritaville... I think that's at universal. So they may do that again since my in laws are big jimmy buffet fans.... - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 9:13PM
Idk if you ever saw, but right between France and England in Epcot there is a park entrance .. It is considered the international gateway, you can leave and enter the park from there. From there, there is a ferry (and walkway) that will take you directly to the boardwalk! So you can plan a day Togo to Epcot and have dinner at ESPN! It's a 5 minute walk or an10 minute ride from the ferry! So worth it, I love ESPN! - Boardwalkgirl  55.2 #87 8:29PM
Yes we did! We rode the ferry over to HS. But I was thinking if there was a night or 2 that non of the parks were open really late or we were tired and just wanted to relax we could go there or some could go (we have a big family group going) so was trying to see what was close by - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 9:11PM

So how do the magic bands go around your wrist? Are they velcroed? And how do little ones do with them? Brody will be almost 6 when we go next year and wondered how big it will be on his little wrist
It snaps right on and has adjustable holes so u can fix it if it's too tight or loose, etc..should be fine for little ones I think - mickeynme  152.1 #51 5:25PM
I can post a pic if u want of mine - mickeynme  152.1 #51 5:31PM
Yes please. But it doesn't just come right off right? You have to un snap it? I've only seen pics of the front so always wondered. Plus I have a small wrist too so sidnt know if they catered to ages of people or what - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 6:09PM
I posted two pics for u of the back of the band...hope that helps...right..it stays on until u unsnap it..unless he rips it off then that's a different story...lol - mickeynme  152.1 #51 6:37PM
Refer to the two pics I posted. The snaps actually hold REALLY well. There are also adjustment holes all the way around the band for little wrists. My wrist is small too but it stayed the whole entire time until a day or so after I got home...haha=D It's rubber and is good through any rainstorm there, etc - mickeynme  152.1 #51 6:40PM
I posted one more so u could see the holes for the snaps all the way around the band - mickeynme  152.1 #51 6:45PM
Thank you!! I saw it and it makes sense now! I don't think the kids will like it but I'm sure the rest of us will be fine with it :) and does it matter which one we wear? Like if I pick the same color as Brooklyn, will I know which is which? I noticed no names were printed on them - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 9:01PM
They usually print your names on which band is yours if you personalized them. You can only use your band too. And you can make the band more comfortable for smaller hands by peeling apart the colored part from the black part. It shows you how on the box that they come in. I think it's underneath te holder part in the box. We found this out for our trip in october when my sons band was to big ad he complained and we took te black part away and he never messed with it after that. These bands stay on the wrist very well - dapserhouse  23.9 #138 3:15AM
Oh ok. That makes send dapserhouse - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 8:11AM
It snaps to hold. Depends on the person, its is either confy or not. For my case, not comfy because it triggers sweat a lot and when i was at space mountain, aerosmith coaster, exp everest and most coasters, it falls off from my wrist - otilegna  1779.5 #69 8:30PM
My 7 year old had no problems with hers. I figured she would hate it but she was the first to put hers on in the morning and actually kept it on all day. She really liked being able to open the door with it. - leveretttltl  35.0 #114 10:34AM
