We did our FP+ last night! Luckily we got to do it at 9pm our time since we were exhausted from our trip to DL and had been up since 4am to drive home. I think we got all the 'big' rides... Just hard to pick where we want to go since we like to kinda go with the flow. We may make changes later on but at least we have it done for now. Now only what, 59 days?!?! Crazy!!
Awesome!! I love that you can edit your time, if available, to go with the flow of the day! - GoofyMom77  506.2 #362 8:57PM
Yeah is just hard because last time we always went to whatever park had magic morning. But his trip it's only half the days. And then the after hours we would do that and it's not every night either. So trying to decide on those days where we will be... And with the kids we imagine they'll want to be at either MK or AK the most so trying to figure the others in and when... Just too much to decide right now :( oh well - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 9:08PM

Question for anyone that has little kids.. With the old FP system, you only got FP ticket for anyone that had a regular ticket. But now that everyone in the group gets a magic band, when you get a FP will the kids get one also? Like Brooklyn won't be 3 yet and Blake just turns 1 when we go so we aren't buying tickets for them but we get a magic band for them. So will they get a FP for all the ride  More...
My 2 yo (at the time) got a magic band in October last year.   - mrsincredible  916.6 #3 11:03AM
Yeah but if you made a FP ahead of time, for say, tower of terror, did he get one also so you could actually ride the ride twice since he was too little? Thats what I'm wondering - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 11:50AM

We will look at the calendar and see which parks open early or late and plan our fp around that. Other than that, we don't plan. We just pick which park we want to go to each day and after a few days we just go to what we feel we missed most stuff. We don't do any sit down dining, all quick service, so we don't have to plan that at all. So its not too much - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 7:56PM
Sounds like a good plan to me. - jacdanfan  7360.1 #5 8:37PM
Yeah with the kids we can't sit down for nice meals really. Plus we would rather just eat quick and ride rides and walk around and explore. ;) - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 8:58PM

What's a good site to look at that usually lists what rides are being refurbished? And when does the calendar usually posts for the hours for the parks? I know for Disneyland they only go about a month to maybe a month and a half in advance for hours but wasn't sure if WDW published theirs sooner :) thanks!!!

The Disney website has park hours 6 months out, but they do change, so keep an eye on them.  As far as refurbishments, those are also on Disney's website, but you can also find them at allears.net or touringplans.com!  I also have a site:  http://dizneygirl70.wix.com/dizneygirl#!news  with refurbs, it also has a crowd calendar link, to help you plan which park, which days :) - DizneyGirl  658.0 #7 4:06AM

So excited! Made flights yesterday for January! Now just have to book the room this weekend :) its 195 days out right now. So when do we get to make the fp reservations? And is the 180 day mark just for the sit down restaurant meals? Just curious what we will need to be planning soon and when :) thanks!!!
180 days for sit down restaurants, 60 days for selecting fastpass+ and online check-in. - disneycm  596.9 #9 12:31PM
Ok great thanks!! We haven't been in almost 5 years so things have changed now :) - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 12:45PM
How exciting! Where will you be staying? - DizneyGirl  658.0 #7 1:24PM
We think prob Pop. We haven't booked the room yet. But will this weekend. But my husband also wants to look in to the possibility of using people's dvc rooms and staying at the animal kingdom. But we would need either 4 rooms or 2 suites (which I doubt we could find) - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 2:34PM
Sounds like a big gathering, how fun.  I'm sure you will love Pop, many, many good reviews on it. - DizneyGirl  658.0 #7 5:56PM
Yeah we have both sets of grandparents going and then another couple who the kids call auntie (she's my MiL's friend that goes to dl with us and then her husband) but him and my FIL plan to golf the whole time while we do the parks. And then my brother is coming for the holiday weekend since he can't take time off work. But it'll still be fun! - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 6:50PM

Yeah since it's a slower season the buses may be fine. We were there early December last time and they had the Xmas party going on... The his wait was over and hour in the cold. Luckily I was able to cut in line since I had Brody who was 9 months old and my dad and husband left the parks before my mom and I did. August 5, 2014 9:14 AM  WDW Talk Land
Ok, I'm sure this question has been asked before, but wanted to ask again :) does the pop century have it's own bus? I believe it does (where the all stars share a bus) but I want to make sure since we always had a long wait at all stars for the bus. Also, difference between pop and say port Orleans. We have 3 sets if adults (grandparents) going and us, family of 5. Just curious if port Orleans is  More...
Pops has its own buses. It is our valu of choice! We only upgrade if there is free dinning then it is worth it to us. Otherwise I think you will enjoy the pops - mmddgp  460.8 #14 9:23AM
Thanks so much!! - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 4:49PM
I agree with Gayle. Upgrade if there are free dining offer... I never stayed at any moderate so i cannot stay on that. I stay at Value because i just go there to sleep and shower! POP is a good choice! also, i like their food court!!! - otilegna  1830.0 #69 4:15PM
And you can also walk across the bridge and eat at AOA food court also which is nice and the grounds are great - mmddgp  460.8 #14 4:20PM
Otilegna- we only sleep and shower there also by my father in law is possibly wanting the 'step up' hotel... But it's like $700 more for the week and my husband doesn't really want to pay that. But I want something new and not the all stars again so that's why I suggested POP. But the free dining isn't offered, yet, so we are hoping it gets extended. But then if you stay at moderate isn't it more restaurants that you get than the quick service? With the kids we prefer quick service meals - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 4:52PM
hmmm, not sure about the restaurants at moderate resorts... i saw a picture that they have 1 table service and a quick service (that is the carribbean beach)...  - otilegna  1830.0 #69 4:55PM
also if the price is somewhat close, go for the family suite at AoA :) - otilegna  1830.0 #69 4:56PM
The family suites are more expensive and the lady in the phone told me AoA isn't connected with the free dining, if they offer it :( so that's why we would do Pop - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 6:52PM
The free dining with Pop Is quick service, however you can pay the difference and upgrade if you like :) - brittandkell  432.3 #436 6:53PM
Yeah we really only want the quick service. We aren't really restaurant or sit down dinner type people when we are at dl so jot really interested in it at WDW either. Plus with the kids, we don't even take them out to dinner here at home much cuz they lose interest after 30-45 mins so we don't want to run I to those problems :) so for the dining, we would prefer the quick service really - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 8:26PM
Unfortunately the Family suite is no where near Close To the pop century price. It is cheaper to get two connecting rooms. Here is what we do and we are ways trying to stretch the budget. We book pops with Disney room discount if there is one or with Disney visa discount or AAA discount( which ever is greater) then watch for specials. If they grow the dinning at you, for us that is the deal maker! Now if you are not into sit downs stay at the pops and get the free qs. Or if you want to upgrade to a moderate, modify your reservation to the new resort and get the ts and qs I have found that it ends up costing us about 150. More for the week for the room and dinning. Another option is that you can upgrade to a moderate and even though you have a ts and qs you can opt to only do the qs. But try and do maybe a lunch character ts the kids maybe really entertained and you will love it as much if not more than them. And if you have their grandparent with you the will live it also. Btw how old are your? - mmddgp  460.8 #14 11:01PM
Mmddgp- We are planning to go in January so Brody will be almost 6, Brooklyn almost 3 and Blake will just have turned 1. What do you mean by upgrade to the new resort? Yeah I think the kids would enjoy the characters but we just hate to hassle with the sit down meals. It can either be fun or too stressful with them. And with so many people we would have to break up in groups for the meals so it would be easier etc so that's why we would rather just do the QS. I'll have to look at the aaa discount and see if there is anything for that time. Thanks! - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 2:34AM
" not New" just different. Sorry wrong choice of words. I just mean that if you did book pops originally under a room only discount and then the free dinning plan came along you could upgrade to moderate hotel if you wanted to take advantage of the ts and qs. If that does not interest you then it is not worth it. Your kids are at great ages I know the 6 and 3 yr old would so enjoy it. How many of you are going, in aug we travel with 8 and the year we traveled with friends there were 12 and 13 and we all sat together. What ever you decide to do is great and you will have an awesome time - mmddgp  460.8 #14 5:21AM
There are my parents going, my in laws going, and another set who is like a grama (she goes to dl with us cuz my father in law doesn't care to go so she goes in his place) but her husband and my after in law plan to just golf all week and not really do the parks with us. And not sure if all 4 of them will golf at a time or 2 also. So it'll be my parents and us the whole trip for sure. And maybe my brother for the MLK weekend since he can't take time off work but he can fly out for a couple days over the weekend :) - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 8:20AM
I really prefer Orleans Riverside over Pop. We have stayed at POR twice and Pop once. Our experience with Pop was so bad that I swore I wouldn't stay there again - even if the WHOLE trip was free. I know that many people on MW have had wonderful experiences there. Ours was anything but. The only thing that I can say that is positive about the resort is the bus service was good. And we were there during New Years! - DznylndFamily  4.1 #560 9:51PM
I'm sorry to hear :( yeah, we are still trying to figure out what all the 'adults' want to do (grandparents). So we are trying to get their input also - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 2:35AM
I'm sorry also that you did not have a good experience we have always had good ones - mmddgp  460.8 #14 5:22AM
They are totally different atmospheres. PO Riverside is quite special - it's beautiful and seems laid back and peaceful. It's nice being able to take the boat to DTD, but you do share the bus with POFQ and I think they stop there first. We also loved the POP just because we don't spend much time there, you have dedicated buses and the food court is good. We paid a little extra for the premium room for the better location but there's definitely more hustle bustle there. Good luck with your choice! - goofygal  7157.6 #7 5:30AM
Better location, does that mean closer to the buses and food court? I wouldn't mind doing that since we have the little ones. Or a better view? I saw a pool view was a little more? Just curious cuz we just did standard room is all - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 8:17AM
Yes!  We just upgraded at Pop, and now we'll be in the 50's or 60's building (closest to the food court, buses, and lobby). - mrsincredible  916.6 #3 10:17AM
Mrs I- did you upgrade to standard pool view, preferred room or preferred pool view? - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 12:24PM
Preferred Room.  We likely won't be swimming in Nov, so I didn't go for the Pool View this trip.  Preferred will still get you in the 50's or 60's building with the least walking.  We were in the 90's building in April this year.  We were there 2-3 days before we realized you could cut through the parking lot to get to the buses, lol!  Man, those first few days were a killer getting back to our room.  It's a LONG walk if you go through the resort. - mrsincredible  916.6 #3 12:28PM
Thanks for the tip!! - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 12:47PM
I believe 70s is also preferred and yes preferred is closer to food court and buses. Its worth it! - goofygal  7157.6 #7 12:59PM
Great! Looks like preferred is only $100 more so I think I'll be able to talk my husband in to that... Closer to buses and food will really be nice with the kids! We were always in the way back at all stars and had to give ourselves so much extra time in the am to get to the buses on time! Ok CDKG... I went in my profile and changed my txt to my phone # and added the @txt.att.net.... Is that how it should be to get messages? The DL side I usually get an email and then there is a spot to go for 'direct messages' and it's pretty easy but I feel so lost and confused on this side :( I sent you another message to see if you could reply, or anyone, to see if it works. Thanks!!!
I texted you again. I hope it went through! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  915.3 #4 7:41PM
No :( but I noticed I added the 1 at the beginning of my # so that may have been too many #'s. But are you supposed to add the @txt.att.net to it also? Sorry, I just don't understand why after all this time it's not set up correctly and nothing is going through - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 7:49PM
If it doesn't work this time I give up then - brodysmommy  364.8 #555 7:58PM

Who all has been to WDW during MLK weekend in January? We are planning our trip for presidents week next year but I just called and the lady said it's already filling up fast with valentines day and the marathon. My husband asked why we don't just go in January but brody would miss a week of school. So not sure I really want to pull him out for that long but if that week would be less crowded and   More...
We have been and it is very crazy. It is more expensive because there is so much going on. If you can afford to pull him out at another time I would consider it. Happy planning!✨ - mmddgp  460.8 #14 3:09PM
Last yr we were there during MLK it was busy!! It was the most crowed part of our trip. Once the weekend was over the crowd level went back to normal. Low. - Schramke  437.3 #17 5:28PM
