Congrats on your trip. We are from Cali and have been to WDW twice in the last yr. We stayed on California time which worked out great. Woke up around 10am eastern time and stayed at the park that was opened the latest. There were no lines to get into the park and less lines late at night. Great dining reservations. With your kids age, they will really enjoy HS and a waterpark if you have time. Epcot is also amazing and my 10 yr old's favorite park. Have a great trip and happy planning
Congrats on the upcoming trip. We, also don't get up and going at the crack of dawm, but that's okay, we tend to enjoy the parks in the afternoon and evenings! The humidity starts to drop around 9 AM, and by 11 AM it is much nicer than at 8 AM, sothere's a great reason to start a bit later. This was our first trip to try some of the extras, I highly recommend it. Take time for a round of golf at one of the mini golf courses and spend an afternoon at one of the water parks. - DizneyGirl

Thanks guys! I think we will skip the Halloween Party at WDW and just do it at DL like we normally do. Just found out my mother in law and father in law booked a trip to over lap our trip and will surprise the kids. So much to look forward to! But first I need to get through the last week of school.
