I have another odd question. We're flying out of California to FL, it takes all day. So our plan was to fly out the day before our AKL check in and stay at the airport hotel for the night. Can we still use ME from the airport on check in day? We will be claiming our luggage at baggage claim.
Your ME ticket will be for your check in day so as long as you don't give them your flight information you should be fine. I would probably call just to be 100% sure! - Andrea84  601.1 #7 2:40PM
I can't imagine you couldn't. All you would have to do is tell them you will have your luggage and when you arrive and when you need the bus. They are always at the airport so it's not like a bus wouldn't be there to take you to the hotel on the day you need it. - brodysmommy  307.1 #734 2:40PM
Why don't you just take the red-eye? - Lelundrial  410.5 #444 2:55PM

Another question. I already asked about favorite table service places. What about places to avoid? What is your "that was awful"place?
I have had no awful places! Although the experience of lunch with the princesses at akeshires was great my kids were not fond of the selection on the buffet - mmddgp  355.2 #18 10:45PM
I hate to say it, but 1900 Park Fare for dinner (breakfast was great!). I consider myself a Disney foodie, for me, it's half the experience. And, the food, IMHO, was not good. I couldn't hardly find one thing I liked. The characters at night (Cinderella and fam) more than made up for it, though. But, we prob won't do dinner there again. - mrsincredible  732.6 #5 10:47PM
We did not care for Jiko at AKL. Service was great, we did not enjoy any of the meals. - TheDad  63.4 #78 10:20PM
We didn't enjoy Biergarten or Boma. - girlonfire  52.4 #86 7:10AM

Some of you may recall that we're coming to the World the day after Thanksgiving though the first week of December on the DDP(Hubby, son(6), daughter(13), and me). I know if I wanna eat at BOG and Le Cellier that I have to get reservations at my 180 day window or we're not eating there. My hubby is THE anti-planner and it would be like pulling teeth to stick any sort of rigorous schedule. So, for the most part, is it possible/plausible to do a walk up to most other places during our time frame? Or a "That looks neat, let see if we can get a reservation for later tonight"? Also, we're staying at the AKL. Are we going to be able to eat at Boma's or Sanaa without a reservation?
You will not be able to walk up to BoG, Le Cellier or Boma (I'm not sure about Sanaa) and get in. Booking 180 days out is your best bet. I've booked Boma less than 180 days out, you just need to be open to eating really early or really late. You may even have a hard time getting into BoG at 180 days (I'm not sure about La Cellier). If that happens, you will need to check back, frequently, and hope for a cancellation. Dining at WDW is VERY different from dining at DLR! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  746.0 #4 1:01AM
Your best bet is to book everything at 180 days. For any sit down restaurants it is very rare to get into without ressies. With the popular ones like BOG and Le Cellier it's hard to get in at 180 days. The only thing I could suggest is if you really don't want to make ressies you can get into all the quick service restaurants. You could always do lunch at BOG you don't need a ressie for that. - Schramke  402.3 #15 1:16AM
I agree with what everyone has said. U have really good choices. I make all the reservations and i make them as early as i can so that i have a guaranteed reservation. Every time i make them I'm always lucky to get one. Never wait last minute. - yessy  177.0 #42 2:29PM
BOG for lunch is a super deal and counts as counter service, it is a walk up at lunch so no ADR however this meal is delivered to your table. You will need to be in line by 10:30 but very worth it. - Betsyboo  16.1 #167 2:33PM

Anther question from a WDW rookie. Our second ever trip to WDW is the day after Thanksgiving through the first week of December, there are four of us (hubby, daugher(13), son(6), and me). Looking at possibly doing the Tommorowland Terrace Dessert Party for the Wishes fireworks. Have you done it? What did you think? It's listed as quick service, does that mean it's covered by the Disney Dining Plan (will be on the Deluxe plan).
The dessert party is AMAZING. It is not covered by the dining plan. You must pay when you make the ressies. The ressies used to open 60-90 days out, but I think I recall reading that they now open at 180 days along with all of the other dining ressies. So don't wait if you want to do it because it books up very quickly. But if you don't find ressies, don't give up, keep checking back because they do get cancellations. If you do it, I recommend a very light or very early dinner because you will definitely fill up on desserts later. - poohbr1205  20.1 #149 6:11PM
I've never done it myself, but I've heard great things! I'm not sure if its still the case, but it used to be hard to get ressies. I say if you can get in, do it! I've never done the dining plan, but doubt its included. Hopefully someone else can confirm. - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  746.0 #4 5:10PM
The dessert party was amazing!! We did it last jan and I can't wait to do it again. You can get ressies about 3 months before your trip. They are a little difficult to get so if you don't get one right away keep looking for a spot to open. It is not covered by the ddp and you would have to check but last yr it was about $25 a person. Hope this helps 😃 - Schramke  402.3 #15 5:21PM
We did it last thanksgiving break and enjoyed it. Lots of great desserts to eat. Great view of the castle and fireworks and we didn't have to fight all the crowds. - disneycm  496.9 #11 5:50PM

Another random question. At DL we like to do the pressed coins. Do they have these at WDW? If so, can someone please post a picture of the pressed coin book?

Random question about Magic Bands and the regular FP. I'm aware that 60 days out I can "reserve" my FP+ for attractions and fireworks and stuff. What about the regular FP system? Do I have to wait till I use up my FP+ to get a regular FP? Can I even get a regular FP? How do you get a regular FP if the park ticket is the Magic Band?
You are still going to get a key to the world card. You use that for your FPs. I recall us getting a regular FP before the ones on our bands were used. Also to note for everyone, you do not have to use the magic bands at all if you don't want to. When I got home I sent in my thoughts on those things, and was called last week. When we checked in we were told we had to use them. The woman that called me on my feedback, said you don't have to use them at all. You just let the front desk know when you check in. - Lelundrial  410.5 #444 5:38AM
We used both fast passes. Put our 3 on our bands ahead of time (which you can update even at the parks the day of..) and then used our card to get more fast passes for our favorite attractions. Worked out great! - MicheyMouse  316.2 #694 11:41AM

New dinning question. If you had only one day at Epcot (on the deluxe dinning plan family of 4) and it would be 5 years till your next visit to the world, would you a) pool all your snack credits for the day and eat your way around the world, or b) have a snack here and there and eat a nice dinner at Le Cellier or Les Chefs De France?
Well you know I love le cellier. So option b all day every day - 5disneylovers  718.2 #6 12:54AM
Eat my way around of course. - Pooh147856  132.8 #52 11:21PM
We loved Chefs de France! - DizneyGirl  527.2 #9 8:01AM

It's official!! Just booked our WDW vacation for Nov 2014, staying at AKL. Hubby splurged for the Deluxe Dinning plan. Question is: where are your favorite places to eat (aside from Boma cause that's already on out list)?
Character Dining: TUSKER HOUSE (AK), Akershus (Epcot), Cinderella Royal Table (MK). I NEver tried Be Our Guest, but you need to go there!... also add Teppan Edo (it is like Benihana) - otilegna  1562.9 #69 2:04AM
We love O'Hana, Chrystal Palace and Tony's. - Pooh147856  132.8 #52 2:29AM
That's so great!!!! We LOVE WDW in Nov!! We have many, many food faves. Some of them are... 50's Prime Time, Sci-Fi, Biergarten, Coral Reef, Le Cellier, Be Our Guest, Cinderella's Royal Table, Tusker House, Chef Mickey, Teppan Edo, and Whispering Canyon! (Although last time WC wasn't quite as yummy as previous visits. It's always fun though!) - BagGal  221.2 #31 11:20PM
Well, Boma is my favorite... But I also really like La Hacienda denSan Angel, Mama Melrose, and Tusker House! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  746.0 #4 11:36PM

Hi!!! I'm a California resedent, so I stay mostly on the DL side of MW. Fortune has smiled on us and we are getting a stellar tax return this year, so hubby says we can go to WDW! Looking at the week after Thanksgiving. I've also learned that renting DVC points will save heaps of $$$$$ So, my question for you folks what villas would you stay at and why? I'm looking at studio villas (family of 4) at Bay Lake and Beach Club.
That's great news! I'm a DVC member but haven't stayed at either Bay Lake or Beach Club. How old are your kids? Bay Lake is located next to MK (which pales in comparison to DL, except NEW Fantasyland) and Beach Club is walking distance to Epcot and very close to HS (it depends how far you want to walk). The decor is very different as well. Bay Lake is very contemporary while Beach Club is much more traditional. Oh, and they say the Beach Club has the best pool on property! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  746.0 #4 2:29AM
Both great resorts and renting DVC points is a great deal! BLT is very modern and I love being so close to MK and the monorail. BC is very quiet, has the best pool and close to Epcot and HS. BLT would be my personal first choice and BC would be my second. BLT also sleeps 5 so if your kids don't want to share a bed there is a pull out chair. You may also want to consider the home resort of the people you are renting points from so you can book at the 11 month window instead of 7. That is a very popular time for DVC members because it's very low on points, not as crowded, and the Xmas decor is up. Also those are very popular resorts. Happy planning! - Andrea84  601.1 #7 8:15AM
I stayed at the bay lake for the first time this past trip. Really like that its close to mk, and very quiet. .. but beach club is closer to epcot and hs... - islandgirl58  243.7 #26 1:03AM
That is great. How did you get a great tax return living in CA? - SSpringsdvc  4.8 #15229 12:32PM
