No no , this question is fun , I'm always curious , I just meant my name isn't original , I guess I was in too much a rush to become a MWer lol - tracsant  959.7 #2 4:39PM

A year ago I would have laughted at anyone who would have told me I could do a Half Marathon. Well I did it! At first I signed up for the Tink thinking I'd walk it. They said you should train at 15 min/ mile pace (which is a fast walk). Then I was challenged... someone said why don't you try jogging a little bit of it. They said you should train at 15 min/ mile pace (which is a fast walk). Then I was challenged... someone said why don't you try jogging a little bit of it. With gradual training I ended up running ~90% of it (walking inclines and water stations). Not only that i think i smiled most of it. Running through DL and DCA, characters and CM cheering us on. Floats, bands, music, and many, many people cheering us on (including MErs). It was one of my top 5 Disney experiences. Both my teen daughters ran the 5k the same weekend and now want to run longer races. I hope to inspire others to do it. Start with a 5k. It's a fun event that can motivate you to get fit. - NikkiMickey  1683.9 #75 3:24PM
Wow! That's inspiring! I usually walk at 3.5 and can jog for 2-3 min at a time. I'm in decent shape, I've just never been a runner. I think I could handle a 5k! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  887.4 #3 3:30PM
Thats great you can already walk 3.5! It's surprising how quickly i was able to go from only being able to running 30 seconds at a time to 1/2 marathon ready....4 months of training. Pretty amazing considering it had been 20 years since I had last run. I walk plenty but always disliked running. Now I continue to run 12 miles a week. - NikkiMickey  1683.9 #75 4:37PM
You are an inspiration!!! I want to do it. Where there is a will, there's a way right??? 😊 Maybe when my youngest is a little older, it will give me more free time to train. - mrsincredible  873.9 #5 4:48PM

I've done 2 princess weekends, 2 goofy weekends (no I am not Goofy, lol), and the inaugural tower of terror last year. wdw is huge and a totally different experience from DL. It was a shock to me but a very cool experience. If you're considering traveling for a Disney race I have a couple travel agents I'd be happy to recommend. They made my life much easier and you don't pay travel agents, they give you the same prices as disney (they can even do discounts). Disney pays them. When you know nothing about wdw which was me a couple years ago that's a big help. - SorcererMky  300.4 #804 10:50PM
I agree, DL and WDW are totally different! I grew up going to DL every summer. On my first trip to WDW I WAS a travel agent and I was still totally overwhelmed! I have since grown to love it for what it is. I haven't done any runs...yet. But, you all have got me seriously thinking about it! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  887.4 #3 4:54AM

It was neat to see that after the Tink a lot of MWers posted in the DL lounge that they were going to do their first ever run races at the DL 1/2, 10k and 5k in Sept.

We stayed at a private rental time share through VRBO.com ($60/nt) in Kissamee. (2 bed/2 bath with kitchen and laundry). Took the city bus which dropped off at transportation center. Made breakfast at the rental and packed lunches and carried a camelbak filled with ice water.
Have you checked to what kind of specials disney is running, the value resorts are always pretty reasonable especially the all stars, never stayed off property, but staying off then means having to figure out shuttle services maybe not as convient as disney transportation , hopefully you can figure out a way to go:) - tracsant  959.7 #2 6:46PM
Some friends of mine just stayed at the World Quest resort and loved it! They had a suite for 99 a night. Have you checked the value resorts on Priceline? My daughter and I stayed at Pop Century in Jan and LOVED it! I never thought to check Priceline but could've gotten the room for 20.00/night less by booking it there! Good luck!! Have a super fun time! - brittandkell  413.2 #460 7:15PM
The downtown Disney resorts run some good deals too. They also have their own free shuttle service. - luvDW  17.9 #163 7:20AM
I've stayed there at regal suns in down town disney maybe 3 years ago. We really liked it. I think they changed their name though. After that we stayed at all star music with free food option. That was better for us. Good luck! - disneyworldsbiggestfan  57.2 #88 8:43AM
