Inside Walt's Barn and the plaque just outside. Barn is a museum of Disney treasures.

I have to see this. I can't believe it's so close and I never knew about it. - Winnie111286  8904.3 #8 2:35PM
That's really cool.  Are those the trains from his backyard? - Pgmlucky  31.7 #5637 9:12PM
The red locomotive is the Lilly Belle from his backyard railroad. Assume the black one is too. - jacdanfan  10814.6 #3 5:29AM

We had an emotional and reflective Sunday. Took a little trip down memory lane. We visited Walt's Barn in Griffith Park, then Walt's burial site in Glendale, and finally a third site of historical significance (bottom photo).
Original animation studio?? We wanted to do all this but Sunday we had already booked a tour & Walt's barn closed pretty early , I'll just have to squeeze it in next trip. I bet it was so interesting  - tracsant  1460.4 #2 6:34AM
Yes, Tracy, you got it. Bottom pic on Hyperion Avenue. Walt Disney Studios from 1929-39. When we drove from Glendale to this location we drove over the Glendale-Hyperion Bridge which was copied for the Monorail Bridge in DCA. - jacdanfan  10814.6 #3 9:11AM
Walt's Barn in Griffith Park. Did not know about that. Where is it?  - Winnie111286  8904.3 #8 7:16AM
It's in Griffith Park off the 134 / Forrest Lawn exit. Take Zoo Drive. Not to far from 134. Walt's Barn is only open the Third Sunday of every month from 11am-3pm. Staffed entirely by volunteers. It's an amazing display. This barn was actually in the backyard of Walt's home where he kept his trains. - jacdanfan  10814.6 #3 9:06AM
Thanks.  I can't believe I didn't know about this. We spent so many weekends at Griffith Park while my son was growing up and we still go there once in awhile to see the trains. This is a must see. Thanks again. - Winnie111286  8904.3 #8 10:38AM

Hi Folks, Wanted to ask your advice. We are planning a trip to WDW and are looking at Old Key West and Saratoga Springs. Which do you guys prefer? Never stayed at either. Thanks
We have only stayed at old key west from these two and love it. But you could end up on the third floor and one 3 buildings have elvators. Property is pretty large, but there is a internal bus for the resort but also all busses hit hospitality house before heading out. It's been wonderful. We also ended up with a huge up grade too but I think even one bedroom would be nice too  - TinkTinkTink  253.7 #33 3:26PM
I've stayed at Saratoga Springs and loved it. DTD is across the bridge and the property is beautiful. So peaceful after a busy day at the park!  It is sprawled out with bus stops all around. I have not stayed at OKW yet.  - DznylndFamily  15.0 #198 4:02PM
You guys are awesome. Husband hates the bus ride so much because of the waiting. The DVC website is the pits. We found another resort that said availability but when I went to make a reservation, it didn't happen. I called and was told the website doesn't have the correct info and you don't get the correct info until you try to book. It looks like either resort is going to be long bus rides and lots of walking so we'll pick something tonight before nothing is left. Going to do a waitlist for another, and maybe it will happen,Β  Thanks to everyone for your info. - Winnie111286  8904.3 #8 3:52PM
Well we went through all the resorts and booked Saratoga Springs. We're going to Waitlist one of the other resorts. Thanks for all your help. - Winnie111286  8904.3 #8 8:34PM
