To any DVC members. Do u honestly feel like it's a good investment? And if you don't mind my asking what does it really end up costing monthly including annual fees? Want to know what's best for my family before we book our next vacation.
We love it. We go on a Disney trip at least 2-3 times a year which we wouldn't be able to afford if we had to pay for a hotel every time. We currently have 250 points, I think we pay around $200 monthly with dues. - Luckyducker  9.3 #242 9:07AM
Thank u :) - NcMoM  17.1 #160 9:11AM
It sounds like it's worth it if you tend to stay at the higher end hotels - timonT  244.5 #26 9:21AM
I thought it was a lot more than that.. - justGoofin  128.5 #53 9:29AM
They told us it was around 260.00 to 270.00 a mt. And between 600 to 800 ann. fees a yr... We talked to them this sept. It was 19,000.00 and you got 160 points each yr. - Scothran  75.5 #69 9:41AM
We have 160 points and if you calculate your annual dues for 50 years (which is how long you own for) and your initial buy in cost, for us it's just under $1000 a year for 50 years. If we go at a slow time it gets us about 2 weeks or 1 week at high season. Staying at a deluxe resort is important to us and if we were to pay cash it would be about 3 times as much. You save a lot of money, especially if you go on vacation often. You can call DVC and discuss prices and they can help you see if it makes sense for your family! Let me know if you have any specific questions! - Andrea84  601.4 #7 9:48AM
We pay about 3000 a year in matenence fees it depends on how many point you have we have 500 points been members since 92 and 2 years ago we signed up for another 15 years.... There are plenty if points for our family we carry some over ever year and sometimes we let a friend of the family go.... We love it however sometimes you can't get into the hotel you want and have to go on a waiting list or if your there and want to stay an extra night sometimes they make it impossible even though there are rooms available to book with cash.... And they don't guarantee you any special request even at your home resort so sometimes I feel that the people who pay nightly are preferred which bothers me.... But reguardless if you go a lot it's worth it we even have used it to go to the Bahamas outside Disney resort for a small fee .... Really depends on your traveling needs - jl42nato  19.4 #151 9:49AM
Do the 'fees' you all are talking about only include the resort and park tickets? We go once a year and only pay $2000 for the resort, tickets AND food. The food is about $800 of that . . . so the resort and park tickets are $100 a month if we go annually. So these prices are more. Now we do stay at Moderate Resorts, not Deluxe (we don't spend anytime in our room so . . .). Anyone explain the pros of doing this? I could see it if you go several times a year for several nights each time, but we live far enough away, once a year is it for us :( - DizneyGirl  528.4 #9 2:26PM
Your park tickets are not included. You have to actually buy them through disney or somewhere else. You could also buy an annual pass if you think you might go more then once. Last if you are a DVC member you are not eligible for the free dinning when they offer it. Hope this helps. - Ariel42  252.9 #24 2:51PM
@Ariel42, thanks for that info! - DizneyGirl  528.4 #9 3:26PM
DVC members, what are your thoughts on buying from Disney versus resale? - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  748.8 #4 7:21PM
You can find good deals on resales but keep in mind, resale DVC has some restrictions like you can't use them for cruises and I believe non-DVC resorts. Check into it thoroughly first! - JetsamsTwin  379.9 #16 9:42PM
What Jalex239 said about resales is correct, you can't book non-dvc resorts or cruises but you can find pretty good deals. You also have the option of buying into a home resort that is not being sold anymore by Disney. Some of the resales don't have any points available to use for a year or two because the owner already used them, but the listing will give you all the details and the cost of the annual dues, etc. - Andrea84  601.4 #7 11:10PM
