The third week of August? Too hot, too crowded? As you all know we just got back five days ago and i need a plan for next trip.

I usually go in August & it is really hot, humid & crowded. I've been at other times of the year & I've found (at least fir me) the best times are Jan, May & Oct. I'm planning for my next trip & trying to get something together for May or June. - Tinkerbell1265

I went the third week of August this year! I had so much fun, but yes very hot and humid and crowded! My friends and I found that we got exhausted easier because of the heat. Maybe try for another time, but in the end either way you are at Disney! - LonghornGirl

We like to go right after labor day day but before the beginning of October. The crowds are not as bad and it's usually cooler - this year it was hot!! - toogrumpy

We've been going in the summer the last several trips out of necessity because our kids are older. We still have a great time but we've learned how to work around the deadly heat & the crowds. I would say that, while your kids are still young enough to go during the school year, stick to that so you can enjoy the milder temps & lighter crowds. - SueBoo

When my husband was a kid his parent took him and his brother in august. They all hated how hot and crowded it was. And when we have our first meeting to plan our family trips my mom-in-law always says the summer is not an option. We love early to mid Nov or early to mid Dec. I am a fall lover and we are partial to Christmas time at wdw. But whatever works for you and your family is the way to go!! - Jazdaz88

For us, what grade they are in matters. For example I wouldn't take a child out of high school and prob not junior high. We have used labor day weekend to our advantage the past few years. My 3rd grader has that monday and tuesday off, so she only misses 3 days. Next year we are going over winter break because my littlest will be going into kindergarten and I wouldn't want her to miss the 2nd week of school her very first year. so, after all that, it really is what works best for you and how your school feels about it, some would frown on a kids missing a whole week to go on vacation. maybe consider the 1st week in june it'll be cooler and less crowded than august. - DizneyGirl

We took our kids out Jan 2009 for our first trip. I am a teacher and parent. Looking at it from both sides, family vacation is more important. My kids got their work (kinder and 3rd) and did if while we were gone. Don't feel guilty :) - mzdisnee

We took our 6 year old daughter the 2nd week in september and it was great! She did her school work on the plane. Also crowds were really low. No more than 20 minute waits and most were just walk-ons. Also we got to do the Halloween party which was awesome. Florida is just too hot for us in the summer. I'm from the south, but I can't imagine doing Epcot in that extreme heat. - Cydsmom
