I have to start plannig for college soon and I would love to work and be involve with Disney but the fear of leaving everyone I love behind sort of stops me and also, I'm not sure if I should really get involved in Disney and ruin the magic for me and just continue to take yearly vacations instead...*

I understand what you're saying. That's one of the few reasons we wouldn't want to live that close to Disney. Also, we wouldn't be taking the Auto Train to get there anymore, and that's a great part of the trip! - SueBoo  18.6 #178 5:54PM
I don't know, there are a lot of CMs who feel the magic even stronger! It might be a great opportunity for you! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  1397.0 #3 6:03PM
If u have the chance to work for Disney and it's in line with ur career path then GO FOR IT!!!!  - toogrumpy  141.8 #60 6:10PM
The opportunity to work for a company like Disney doesn't come around for everyone so I say go for it. If you know what you want to do in life and it coincides with something Disney has going/supports why not take a shot at it? I'm guessing that you will be leaving home for college so why not be somewhere you already know and enjoy?? - Tinkerbell1265  442.0 #19 6:16PM
Take it from me. If I can work there for 7 1/2 years then have it taken from me, and be tossed away into what amounts to Davy Jones' Locker. Then strike a deal to never gain any of my career back just so I can go to WDW again, I think you'll be just fine working here! Trust me, if anything, you'll get a sense of deep respect for what goes on behind the scenes to make everything happen. Even though I can spot things that are wrong from 100 paces, I still don't let it bother me now. I may comment on it, but I don't let it ruin things for me. - IndyandMarion  1278.9 #4 6:20PM
Consider the college program. My son did a 3 month stint and loved it. It gave him a chance to make the magic for others! He moved to orlando in january and loves it. He has an annual pass and goes to the parks all the time with his friends. He says the magic is still there! dont worry, you have plenty of time. Good luck! - MickeyM28  6.7 #333 6:26PM

Indy, do you know Jason Mangano? - Boardwalkgirl  55.9 #101 6:31PM
Also, when choosing a career, it's important to love what you do. What could be more fun than a job where you make others happy?! We have experienced some wonderful Disney magic over the years all because of the CMs who made it happen, and we still love telling the stories to anyone who will listen! - SueBoo  18.6 #178 6:36PM
I started with the college program and stayed 10 years. Loved it and it opened opportunities for me at ABC in NYC and now it looks like I may be going to ESPN. It's wonderful! - jl42nato  19.4 #174 9:17AM
