Just a quick question, I'm trying to figure out a Disney budget and I am stumped on how much to budget for extra spending money(souvenirs and things not included in the basic dining plan). What would a sufficient amount be for two adults and two boys ages 5 and 6? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
Mmmm I'd say 150-200. Honestly what I'd suggest is getting four WDW pins, and a photo album with the year you go. But, don't get anything until the second to last day, that way you can make a list of what you saw or want then you can narrow it down from there. - IndyandMarion  913.3 #1 1:37PM
Well it depends on you actually. Every ride drops u into a gift shop that's very hard on the parents I think.... U dont know maybe 1000 just in case.... Idk lol so hard to say - jl42nato  19.3 #126 1:39PM
Personally I don't think 150-200 is enough there are things you are going to want to buy and special things your children will want and some pics on rides you will want that balloons unexpected expense if someone gets sick the lust goes on and on better to be safe then sorry - jl42nato  19.3 #126 1:42PM
I always buy a frame $20 to $30 the boys like the light up toys for the parade $12 we skip balloons $10 to $15 and go for Mickey ears around the same price..I buy pins also..if your going to spoil everyone $200 plus.. - justGoofin  103.3 #44 1:46PM
It is different for every family. For our kids we usually have them earn 'Disney Money' for chores. We buy them autograph books, ears, and the rest is up to them to buy with the money they earned. I make it so they can earn about the same and around $150 each. This is more than enough. We ask that they wait till the last day or two before getting much (other than things like trading pins), then they see everything before deciding and we don't have a room full of toys to work around. As for the adults, we don't buy much we do get a holiday ornament and that's about it. Occasionally we get a shirt or picture frame. - DizneyGirl  354.1 #9 1:47PM
How long are you going for? If your doing every park..I know I can spend 1000 easily! - justGoofin  103.3 #44 1:54PM
We just got back this week and it was my 6 year old daughters first visit so we spend about $700 for her, us, and my 5 nieces and nephews. We did all 4 parks. We also saved our snack credits from our dining plan and bought candy for all. - Cydsmom  23.1 #119 2:08PM
100 per Day per Child. I have been doing it that way for years, if you are staying on the grounds, you can make your purchase and they will send it straight to your resort, no worries about carriyng arond the park all day. In the past I have passed up many items I wanted because I did not want to take it through the lines or leave it in a stroller. This is so helpful. - TinkeringHalo  19.0 #128 2:44PM
Also if they take your items to your WDW resort they set it up in your window! So cool. Just treat the ladies whom clean your room well... - TinkeringHalo  19.0 #128 2:47PM
I buy my kids a gift card with $100 on it and let them know that is all they get. This way they are not asking for everything and it helps stay on a budget. - princesshana  3.4 #819 2:51PM
I have a 5 yr old girl and we stay at the park for 6 days. We have a jar and any change found or we have left over we put in there. She saves any money she gets and we count 2 weeks before the trip. She has that to spend in whatever she wants then I give her 100$ and that is it. In her jar she has 120 just in quarters so I think she will make out good this year. - cheekymouse  34.9 #90 2:57PM
Penny presses are cheap too. 51 cents each! - IndyandMarion  913.3 #1 3:06PM
I am taking $1000 spending money this trip (5 days, 3 people). It's there if we need it, and will put whatever we don't spend back for our next WDW trip!! :) - mrsincredible  403.9 #5 3:09PM
We also do the penny press, I go to the bank get a roll of new pennies and I bring on the plane ( very heavy for checked bags) about 30$ in quarters! There is also an app to help you find them in the parks. My kids loves it and when we get home we talk about them. The holder book we get a new one each time is about 7$. - cheekymouse  34.9 #90 3:11PM
What is that app called cheekymouse and is it for android - klperry07  11.5 #177 4:36PM
@klperry I have an iPhone but it was called WDW coin press. It was 99cents. - cheekymouse  34.9 #90 5:29PM
Thanks for all the helpful tips everybody! :-) - kjbisme  127.9 #41 5:55PM
