Ok so I never been to DL, but i can't ever picture going there and having as much fun as in Disney world.. It seems people go there every week just for the day, and I see Disney world as a big huge thing to plan for months and go away on vacation too.. I don't know! Just seems foreign to me :/
DL is an amazing experience! You can get everything done in 4 days and you don't have to plan as much. The dining plan at wdw makes getting a reservation more difficult, where DL you only need a reservation at a few restaurants. More locals visit DL compared to the large number of tourists at wdw. I should probably not say this on MW FL, but I prefer DL because of all it's history, everything is so close, and it's more magical to me :) - Andrea84  433.2 #5 7:16PM
I have never been to DL either mainly because its too far away. I would think there would not be as much to do, but I plan to visit in the future. I just stand to fly that long!!! - toogrumpy  101.5 #48 7:24PM
I've also only been to DW. I suppose it just depends what you're used to. Lots of people have encouraged me to take my family to DL instead of DW for our 1st trip. They say it is more low key and enjoyable. - flora  5.3 #347 8:16PM
I've never been to dl but I hope to one day. Because they are so different I would never hold dl to the same expatiations as dw. - Schramke  325.2 #14 8:20PM
Actually comparing magic kingdoms alone, DL has 30% more rides then the magic kingdom. DL is also geared toward locals and refreshes it's rides like haunted mansion and space mountain at Halloween, something MK can't do due to the number of visiting guests. Both coasts have there ups and downs. I like the proximity of DL and the food options, but appreciate the array of activities in Orlando. But walking through a park walt built and the history involved with that is something every true Disney fan should experience. - Godfrey  32.7 #4334 8:36PM
Our primary park over the past 40+ years is DL. We can afford to go at least once a year, plus its not as physically tiring for young grandchildren. Plus the original DL park has so many more attractions than MK. I love it. But over the years more and more locals come on weekends, so we avoid those times. I love WDW, too, it just costs much more and takes more planning. - ally  445.1 #4 8:37PM
Oh yes, the Indy ride there is so fantastic, it's something you have to see. - ally  445.1 #4 8:39PM
I've been to DL twice but long before CA was there. I found DL was smaller but no less magical than DW. I like that there are differences between the 2 that make them unique. If they were exactly the same it would be boring....like going to the mall. Same stuff, different location. No thrills, nothing sense of wonder. DL is a must-do as much as DW. - Tinkerbell1265  384.6 #9 8:40PM
I enjoy reading all your opinions! Love you guys  - Boardwalkgirl  37.4 #85 8:40PM
We luv ya too Babe!! - Tinkerbell1265  384.6 #9 8:52PM
I grew up going to DL on average once a year. When I finally made it to WDW as an adult, I didn't like it! I just kept comparing it to DL & focused on the differences. But after a couple more trips to WDW I learned to appreciate it for what it is. Now, WDW is my favorite! This October I will return to DL for the first time in 6 years (I've been to WDW a few times since then). It will be interesting to experience DL all over again! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  425.5 #7 9:02PM
I think when WDW is a "world" you can just get lost in by itself and don't even have to leave except maybe for a few external parks. If visiting DL for a week you're probably going to many other So Cal attractions - shop, sight see, beach, other parks - that aren't Disney related so it's a different and varied experience. - Westcoast  77.4 #3360 9:06PM
I would like to go to DL, but we always choose DW, knowing it has more to do. We are equal distance from both. I love the detailed planning that goes into a WDW trip, I should be a travel agent. - DizneyGirl  382.4 #10 9:07PM
Would love to go to DL but to far to travel with 2 small kids. When they get bigger I hope we get there. - Ariel42  200.1 #24 9:20PM
That's so funny. I'm born and raised in California (northern) and make yearly trips to Disneyland. Never been to disneyworld. I've always thought of Disneyland as the original and disneyworld as not as fun or just too large to traverse. I am happy to say I am planning a trip to disneyworld and will enjoy finding the differences. Also I love seeing pictures on this mousewait. They seem so familiar yet lost to me. - matertowing  331.1 #482 9:30PM
I'd love to go back to DL but DW is closer to me and I have friends in Orlando. Maybe one day... - Tinkerbell1265  384.6 #9 10:09PM
Disney World so much better! But it is nice to go atleast once! - amandapanda3  37.3 #86 10:13PM
I love both for what they offer! I grew up with DL...love the Indiana Jones ride, love the history, love the proximity of the parks. Would have AP if I lived close enough. DW is awesome for long trips-love the variety of parks, love that I can take the buses and never need a car. I'd like for or next family trip to be to DL, but it's an expensive flight for a few days and too far to drive...so we'd prob do city pass and get a car - lmahon424  103.8 #3031 10:14PM
I grew up with DL and went for the first time to WDW this year. They are both different and special in their own ways. I agree that WDW is more expensive especially when you live on the west coast. Some things I like better at DL and some things I like better at WDW. Since I grew up at DL it does hold a special place in my heart. If I have only one day there I spend the whole day at DL and don't go to DCA. I'm a traditionalist :) - DebbyMouse7531  244.3 #19 4:38PM
