Good evening MW family! I thought it'd be fun to do a little 'get to know you' post! What do you do for a living and why did you decide to do it? (share only if you want :))

I'm Patrrica. I am home care nurse. I see high risk pregnant women. Women and teens after they deliver. I see newborn all the way to age of 21 ( peds). I also see adults with all illnesses. Basically I can see everyone lol. I watched my mom cared for my great grand parents and that inspired me. I love nursing. Home care gives me the flexibility to work and enjoy my children. - 5disneylovers  1254.6 #7 4:49AM

Hi Everyone! I'm Jessica, im from orange county Ca. My husband and I actually met working at Disneyland in Main Street stores. I left the Disney company back in 07 to work for Bloomingdales as a merchandiser and ended up leaving Bloomingdales in 09 after having our son. Now that our son is older (4) I've returned to school to get my degree in sociology. In my spare time I love spending early mornings with my son at Disneyland or introducing my son to the many classic Disney movies :) - DisneyFanatic728  13.0 #9940 1:31AM

I've been a nurse for 150 years lol. I've done lots of different things...med/surg, kidney transplant nurse, pre-post surgical, pacu, preadmissions, IVF, house supervisor. I wanted to be a nurse most of my life! My grandma whom I loved very much was a nurse and I wanted to be like her :), that's where my passion for the profession began...over the years I've been full time, part time and PRN. I LOVE my job and I love the flexibility I have! I just work 3 days a week now and the rest of my time is spent being a wife and a mom to my 19 yr old and 3 year old! (And planning our next Disney vacation!) love it all! I'm really blessed! - brittandkell  547.7 #413 8:15PM

Growing up I wanted to be a nurse and teacher as I enjoy helping others. I am a Registered Nurse. For my unpaid jobs includes homemaking, raising my 3 children and caring for my hubby and senior dad. I teach the children's church class and I lead the yearbook club, grad committee, weekly pizza lunches and magazine at my son's school. I don't know how to say no and 'I see a need, I fill the need.' - nanay2jdr  28.1 #144 8:20PM
Ok that just made me tired reading it! Lol - brittandkell  547.7 #413 8:23PM
You are a busy gal! It's great to help others!! - DizneyGirl  1152.5 #8 8:25PM
Great idea! I manage the safety program for the maintenance department at the airport. Facility maintenance (auto mechanics, operating/mechanical engineers, carpenters, electronic technicians, electricians, laborers, painters, utility workers, etc.), NOT aircraft maintenance. There are over 350 employees just in my department of responsibility! I didn't choose to be a Safety Manager, it chose me. It all started when I was "voluntold" to teach a new safety program because of my experience facilitating supervisory courses. - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  1475.8 #3 8:28PM
cool how a job chose you - nanay2jdr  28.1 #144 5:11AM
I think it's cool how it chose you! - DizneyGirl  1152.5 #8 6:05AM

Hi everyone I'm Robert and I have a regular job at Walmart in the electronics department and I also drive coach bus part time I really didn't choose the jobs they chose me and kim(bikermouse) is a bus monitor for an early intervention program and she does it for the kids - firestorm64rt  43.0 #119 8:36PM
It's neat to hear how these jobs chose each of you. - DizneyGirl  1152.5 #8 6:06AM
I am a part of the Pirates of the Carribean crew, but, I dont sing YO HO YO HO! A pirates life for me... I am a US Sailor (but with a couple of medical issues :( that is why i am not the typical hunky - gaston type! hahah)... Well, i really do not know what was i thinking why i joined, but i just wanna serve my second/new country in a simple way. I was born and raised in the Philippines and immigrated to the US last DEC 2007 and i do not have a good work experience at all. So, i decided to sign-up with the armed forces and from May 2008 till now, i am an Active Duty Sailor... (there were bumps during the sail, especially the years of Feb2009-May2013, it is kinda personal). But, at least i am able to stand up again... and enjoying disney more and more! - otilegna  2818.9 #54 8:37PM
Thank you for your service:) - tracsant  1523.2 #2 8:45PM

Wonderful story!! Thank you for serving!! - mrsincredible  1381.2 #4 1:20AM
@ally, that is nice to hear! WW2 was not a good history in thePI. Manila was the 2nd most destroyed capital in theworld (after Warsaw). - otilegna  2818.9 #54 12:24PM
Ihave been a stay at home mom now for 7 years now. I have two children and with my husbands job it was to difficult for child care. I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I am in the finance industry as a branch administrator for investments. I have always been good with numbers so ended up in this profession. I am currently at home due to medical issues. I am from Alberta, Canada. - bearlove  154.4 #2747 9:34PM
Numbers are my thing too, but I just couldn't get into it :( However, your profession sounds better than mine (before kiddos). - DizneyGirl  1152.5 #8 6:07AM

Great to read all these posts and build up a little personality to go with the names! I am an RN, working mainly in ITU. I took a break from nursing a few years ago and worked in a primary school with children with special needs. More recently I have been working as a flight attendant ! Real career change at my age but I have had such fun, spent a lot of time in New York, got cheap flights - hence the Disney trips and met some great people. I am working in Europe for the next 5 days then I am leaving :( circumstances meant it was time for a change so now I'm job hunting!! Hoping to return to nursing in some form but open to offers! I really want Tinks job flying from the castle every night!! I have 2 grown up children, a grandson who was very much a surprise and an estranged husband who seems to be having a midlife crisis and believes he is 20 again! I like keeping fit, I am involved with transplant sport UK and have loved Disney since I was a little girl! - rink2  304.8 #30 1:20AM
Hi guys, as u know i'm from melbourne australia, married to puddy77 and have a son called tyler who turns 6 in january and also starts school next year in february. Have been a Bank officer /personal banker / customer service specialist at the commonwealth bank which is australia's biggest bank here in australia. Joined may 1995 so over 18 yrs in the job where i started as a teller, then did cust service and then came manager but droped the position when i met adam and got pregnant due to the long stressful working hours. I Joined the bank as i always loved playing banks as a small child pretending i was the banker and plus the job allows me to assist my clients with their lending ( loans), investment, savings, travel and credit goals. The branch i work at now is based in a shopping centre approx 5 mins away from home and opens 7 days a week for which i work full time 5 days a week - wed through to sunday so my weekend starts on a monday๐Ÿ˜€. During my career it has given me the chance to travel the world which i did prior to meeting adam in 2006. In 2005 i travelled to europe and the uk by myself for 2 months and visited many great historic and fantastic countries but nothing has compared to my disney trips which started in 2001 and apart from the yr my son was due to be born and the europe/uk trips... Disneyland or disneyworld has been my preferred vacation of choice - bubbaschoice  57.8 #103 3:31AM
I am a full time mom and Part-Time Registered Nurse in a Cardiac Step Down Unit. I originally wanted to go to med school but my dad told me I wouldn't want to go to school for that long. Don't tell him but he was right. I am so thankful for my career choice for the flexibility. I also love that it is so different everyday. I work 2 twelve hr night shifts a week and am so blessed to never miss any of my kids activities. I also have the option to work extra shifts to support my Disney addiction. - Disneyaddict  374.7 #650 3:44AM
Hi guys! I'm Maggie, and live in Northwest Arkansas. For any of you that aren't familiar with this area, it is home of Sam Walton and Walmart, Inc (also Tyson and JB Hunt). So most either work for Walmart or a supplier calling on the Walmart account. This is also true in our case as well... Mr I works for WM, and I work for Frito-Lay on the WM account. I am in Category Management where I assist in the development of all the salty snack/chip modulars (shelves) you see when you walk into a Walmart store, not just for Frito-Lay, but for all the chip suppliers as we are also the Advisors to the chip buyer at Walmart, with that comes a tremendous amount of dedication, responsibility, and accountability. As you can imagine, it is a crazy fast-paced job with a high degree of stress on most days for me and everyone in my department. Though I love working for Frito-Lay, I am actually in the process of interviewing to move to another smaller company (in the same type of role with less items to manage, less stress, etc) in the next month or so, just to gain back a more healthy work-life balance. If it doesn't work out, I'll stay put, but sure hoping it does! Wish me luck and lots of pixie dust!! ๐Ÿ‘ - mrsincredible  1381.2 #4 4:09AM
Best of luck Maggie - skcanfield  589.9 #14 4:14AM

Hey everyone, my name is Chris. My wife is Arely, and our kids are Dasha and Anakin. My wife and I are former Disneyland resort cast members, which is how we met. We run a family entertainment company is Orange County, CA. See our website at ocfunrentals.com. We visit Disneyland nearly once a week. We are enjoying our first family vacation to Disney World. - AniDash  17.6 #8325 1:11PM
Best job ever!! - mrsincredible  1381.2 #4 1:28AM
I don't do anything all that great. I am just a warrant officer in the Army. I act as an administrative assistant for the local armory. I am married and we took our first disney trip in August of 2007. It was so expensive that we actually read books and learned how to do disney on a few hundred dollars for the two of us. Now we go to disney every other year with the opposite year being a trip to some far off country. My favorite park has to be a tie between Epcot and Hollywood studios and my wife's is definitely the magic kingdom. She could ride its a small world over an over. However, I don't ride that ride anymore. On one trip we got stuck just close enough to see the exit but not leave. After a hour the cast actually had to wade the water to move the boat things to get us off the ride ( worst hour ever) LOL and our fave couple ride has to be the toy story ride. We always fight for the high score. Not much else except that we love disneyworld and all the magic we get to enjoy there. - athica  12.9 #222 1:14PM
My name is Joanne and I am the nonprofit director of an agency with 5 child care centers. I've been here almost 30 years. I started here because I had an education degree and because my children went here. So I was a parent first. I realized what a gift it is to give parents a safe place to leave their children plus somewhere they will learn. So I think that is why I've stayed do long, too. I am 62 though and dreaming of retirement nearly everyday. I plan to retire in 2-3 years. - ally  509.0 #18 3:17PM

Hi y'all. My name is Lisa. I am married for 22 years with a 20 year old daughter. We live in SC. I work as a Compliance Mgr for a large academic medical practice. I have been doing this for 7 years. Before that I grew up in Phx, AZ and worked for 12 years as a medical coder. I grew up going to DL about once a year and always loved Disney, but made my first trip to WDW in 2008 after moving to the east coast, and I have been hooked ever since. I just can't get enough. My husband also loves Disney, not the the extent that I do, but he says that he loves seeing the total enjoyment that I get from it and that makes him love it more. My daughter loves it as much as me. We are going in Dec. for her 21st birthday. She also dreams of doing the DCP. - poohbr1205  22.5 #164 6:37AM

Hi- my degree is in Social Work but I recently left the social service field due to concerns about how the agency was being operated. So now I'm working as a financial aide counselor at Troy University. It's no dream job but at least I'm not on call anymore! Planning on using this opportunity to return to school. Hi everyone! I am Nicole, and we live in SC. I am a Teachers Assistant at a preschool for Special Needs Children. I ALWAYS wanted to be a teacher, and when my first child was born, I couldn't bear the thought of putting her in daycare, but we could not afford for me to stay home, so I found a job AT a daycare and she came with me. So there it began, during that time,I went to school to get mt CDA (Child Development Associate) and have worked in several different preschool settings until we moved from CT to SC 3 1/2 years ago and I found the MOST INCREDIBLE job ever in a school for special needs children. I love it so much and am inspired every day by the children and their families! - ncjal  322.3 #29 6:16AM
