Good afternoon/evening! I want to thank all my MW family for your thoughts, prayers, pixie dust and personal texts these past weeks. I'm glad that the week is over! I'm trying to look on the bright side of all my bad news. And to update you all on my littlest angel: Her blood test told us she has an autoimmune disease AND that she is allergic to milk and eggs, UGH! Her autoimmune disease is Celiac. This meant a lot of food cut out of her diet and those M&Ms (her fave) were hard to deal with losing. When we first got her bloodwork back we weren't sure it was Celiac, diabetes, Crohn's disease or something else. I wish she didn't have Celiac, but I'm thankful that it's not something worse. The specialist also told us to ignore the milk and egg allergies, because food allergy tests are not often accurate. Unless you have Celiac or know someone close to you that does, it's much more than not eating bread and it's hard for a little child to understand it. Already she has accidentally eaten something she shouldn't have at school for snack time with a sub teacher there. She felt very bad that afternoon. Over time it'll get easier, I know, since my other daughter has it. Our biggest hurdles are yet to come with 2 birthday parties coming up. Again, thanks to everyone for caring and thinking of her!

So glad it was nothing serious, but serious enough cutting food out. Good luck to you doing that :) Sending more pixie dust to help with food choices! - DisneyVicki  23.6 #156 3:04PM
Thanks Vicki! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 3:28PM

Youre very welcome - ariel116  103.5 #69 4:22PM
So sorry to hear that, Diz! But I know you are relieved it can be somewhat of a moot issue with a controlled diet. Poor thing. I know that's hard for us, let alone little ones. 😢 - mrsincredible  1189.7 #5 3:17PM
Thanks Maggie! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 3:30PM

Thanks Mandy! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 3:53PM
So glad it's a managable diagnosis. May make it easier for both girls having the same food choices. Pixie dust for a better ending to your week. - Maleficent69  124.7 #64 3:57PM
Thanks! You are right, we are all going to eat the same way from now on. - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 4:07PM
My father in law was diagnosed last year with Celiac. There are some great products out there especially if you have a Sprouts market. They even have gluten fee cake mix. My mother in law bought a case of it!! You could make her, her own cupcake to take to the parties. - mzdisnee  567.6 #13 4:07PM
Err don't have spouts and the cost of glutenfree is so expensive! I'm making most sulk things from scratch, bread, muffins, pancakes, you name it. I am glad there are so many choices though, just wish it wasn't like 5 to 10 times more expensive. Does your fil know that the difference between regular food and ggluten free food is tax deductible? I just learned this a few days ago. - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 4:21PM
Sorry for the typos! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 4:22PM
Pixie dust your way. There are a lot of gluten free places out there. My friend has the same thing. - Pooh147856  355.1 #24 4:10PM
Thank you! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 4:22PM
Yup my friend does too - Hendizl  2821.9 #46 10:55PM
Bless her heart! Its hard for family to be ill but it seems so much worse when its your child! Lots of pixie dust and prayers to your lil one and your family! - girlonfire  54.1 #102 4:19PM
Thanks! Yes it is . . . don't we all wish we could be the one ourselves with it and for them not to suffer? - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 5:30PM
aww, I am sorry your princess is going through all this!! Prayers and pixie dust going your way! It will get easier, but HARD right now I am sure!! - ncjal  288.4 #28 5:15PM
Thanks Nicole! It is hard right now. We've done this with one daughter already. It's hard when they as for their favorite treat or something they have always been able to have and you have to tell them no. She's cried a lot and I've done a lot of cuddling with her. Right now she's so fussy and I'm sure it's half the food making her feel bad and half the getting used to it all. - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 5:32PM
Thank goodness it isn't very serious. Prayers you guys can get everything in order for her. - ccmom  187.5 #47 5:38PM
Thank you!! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 8:40AM
Any illness is hard for a child and the family. So sorry. Illness that affect diet is often the worst especially when they are small. Just keep talking to her about only eating the things you send for her in school. - 5disneylovers  1152.5 #6 5:58PM
So glad its not any of the worst you were thinking. - 5disneylovers  1152.5 #6 5:59PM
Me too! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 7:22PM
I'm so glad you finally got some answers and know what your dealing with. Continued prayers to your daughter and family. - disneycm  701.6 #11 6:18PM
Thanks! It's less stressful knowing what it is! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 8:40AM
Glad it's not serious !!!!! - skcanfield  563.4 #15 6:35PM
Thank you!! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 8:40AM
I know two people with Celiac and they feel so much better now that they've changed their diet. I have a disease where I can't eat chocolate (among other things) anymore. It was so hard to get used to. Once I started having no more pain though, now I look at chocolate and I can feel the pain that would come with eating it. I really don't want it. Hopefully, your daughter will learn what is best to eat and will start feeling much better. It's hard for someone so young. - ally  509.0 #17 9:11PM
One of our other daughter's is celiac and she too feels MUCH better without the gluten. She is still have occasional issues, not sure if she's being exposed and we don't know it, or if something else is going on. Glad it's manageable through diet (instead of drugs). Sorry to hear about the chocolate. I too cannot have chocolate or cocoa of any kind. I make brownies with carob (which is actually healthy for you) and love them! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 8:42AM
At least there's still peanut butter and I like that.:) - ally  509.0 #17 7:40PM
Oh that brought tears to my eyes! So hard for children to understand that they can't eat certain foods! I pray that it gets easier for both your children. I just want to give her a hug. Poor girl! I am so glad that its not something serious that you can't control. Hang in there! :) if you need to vent, your welcome to email me, I'm a good listener. - disneyworldsbiggestfan  65.6 #91 9:18AM
You're such a kind caring person! Thanks for your kind words and offer, I might just do that! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 2:06PM
Please do! :) - disneyworldsbiggestfan  65.6 #91 2:24PM
Glad you found out what was the problem is...I know it must be hard for her..if will get easier after time... - dxcmama  333.4 #26 9:47AM
It will get easier. This will be her first trip to Disney with it. I'm so glad we got a place we can fix meals! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 2:07PM
Aww poor kid. It'll be tough at first but I'm sure once you get a set diet it'll get easier.I know someone with Celiac and she does great with it. She has to be doubly diligent about reading the ingredients in processed foods not only for her but for her son who, while not having Celiacs, is allergic to all nuts (airborne & ingested). Im going to keep my eyes open for recipes that are gluten free for her especially the sweet ones. - Tinkerbell1265  442.0 #19 7:37PM
Thanks Susan! I'm going to try the recipe you mentioned and I liked that page, I saw a couple more recipes that'd work too. - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 7:52PM
Cool!! Let me know how it turns out. - Tinkerbell1265  442.0 #19 8:36PM
I hope she feels better!! Prayers for you all !! - lghr  48.8 #108 8:44PM
Thank you! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 5:24AM
SOO many people in my family have celiac! And everyone deals with it great! We hve this great recipe we make "flourless chocolate cupcakes" super easy to make and SOOO GOOD! Google it it should pop right up! And please take note that disney is EXTREMELY and INCREDIBLY accomodating at EVRY SINGLE RESTERAUNT for my family members with celiac!!! - Boardwalkgirl  55.9 #101 10:41PM
Yep, we've been with another daughter that's celiac. The restaurants are great, BUT for kids menu it's not much of a gluten free selection so after 6 days of eating the same thing over and over she grew tired of it. I'm sure the adult meals are more variety! - DizneyGirl  935.8 #8 5:47AM
