Tink and I were commenting on this yesterday that our Happiest Place is now this families worst nightmare. There was a big article in our local paper about it, the person who started cpr is one of our local firefighters. - MagicalFamily  57.9 #85 10:39AM
Him and his family will be in my prayers. This is horrible, I can't even imagine how distraught they are. Last week I walked past this pool everyday our room was not to far from it and this happened a day after we left. So sorry for their loss👼 - mmddgp  374.6 #18 11:19AM

Oh this is beyond words. Such a tragedy on what should have been a magical vacation. My heart hurts for them. - txdisneymomma  79.1 #68 2:48PM
I don't post often, but I need to reply to this post. My daughter's best friend drowned in a swimming pool during a party with dozens of parents present. My heart goes out to this family. Please spread the word- I know for a fact the POFQ gift shop has swim vests for kids to use for your entire length if stay- for free. You keep them in your room, and return at check out. It takes 5 minutes to check them out from the shop. I would guess all other hotels have the same program. I saw many kids without vests- who, in my opinion, should have been in vests. Remember, our kids are all on overload on vacation, and may not swim their best on vacation. My kids, 5 and 7, both know swim vests are non-negotiable. To all the families visiting WDW, take 5 minutes to get vests, for all your kids. God bless that little guy and his family! - DisneyCREWmom  65.1 #3889 3:41PM
I did not know that. Thanks for sharing I will be using it next trip - 5disneylovers  773.9 #5 3:44PM
I did not know that either. Great information, thank you! - txdisneymomma  79.1 #68 3:52PM
We take our own life jackets with us for our little guys... I could never take that chance. Great tip! - mrsincredible  768.8 #6 4:05PM
I get what you're saying, but keep in mind the victim here was 13. Most 13 year olds don't wear life jackets to go swimming in a pool. - NotNKansasAnymor  204.9 #1785 4:19PM
Glad to help! Please spread the word! - DisneyCREWmom  65.1 #3889 4:25PM
Oh how awful, so sad to hear that. Prayers for the family! - happygma2  23.0 #141 4:03PM
At pops there are bins of life vests right buy the pool in sm, med, lg you pick one use it and return when you are done. I know when we were there that week it was so cold at night there was only a handful, if that , of kids in the pools and of course there are no life guards after a certain time. I have 6 grandkids that we take and the 3 little ones wear them if we are not in the water but the older ones 10 and 11 wouldn't even think of it. We just continually have to stress safety and swimming in the buddy system - mmddgp  374.6 #18 4:36PM
Such a sad thing !!!! ;-(.... - skcanfield  467.9 #12 5:54PM
I noticed last week that the pools at port Orleans riverside (at least the ones I saw) are not gated and do not have covers. - bluefairy  643.3 #247 5:56PM
