Sorry about your trip, as for dvc , we pay monthly payments as well as dues , you put a down payment when you first join , and it goes by points instead of weeks , which I love , gives more freedom , it's not for some people , but I do love it, I wouldn't have been able to go as much or stay where I have without it, we have been able to go a couple times a yr in the past , this past couple trips we stayed at the grand Floridian , I've also done the club floor at the yachtclub , I would never be able to do it without dvc, when you use pts to stay at a deluxe it's points plus a $95 fee , I just love the freedom , - tracsant  571.3 #3 6:43PM

Disney offers financing for your initial purchase, however their interest rate is VERY high. I already had financing through my bank at a much lower rate. My goal was to pay it off in less than 2 years. I'm not even 10 months in and I'm more than half way there! DVC is the best way to go if you want to go often and stay at delux resorts. You put 10 percent Dow and pay a mortgage until paid off. There is also your monthly association dues. Mortage and taxes are tax deductible. Most if all when paid off you never pay again for a hotel room. When you visit one of the resorts go to the DVC booth, and make a appointment...they will go over everything with you...they will run a credit check to see if you qualify for financing...if you don't then you will need to put a down payment...I think the smallest package was like almost 3,000 down... - islandgirl58  162.0 #31 8:59PM

We have had ours for ten years and love it! And we live in California. Yes, the airfare is getting harder and harder to pay, but my husband starts watching the prices a year out and ends up buying about 9 mos out for a good price.
