Well family, I have some good news and bad news. Let's just get the bad news over with... after a great deal of thought and mulling over our decision to become DVC members, we decided 45 years was just far too long to lock us into a financial obligation with the annual dues and taxes. If it had been 25 years, we would have signed in a heart beat, but 45 is just too long, and we don't want to burden our children with an expense they may or may not be able to keep up at that point in their lives. The decision makes me a little sad, but I know it is the right one for our family. Now, on to the good news... we have decided we will STILL go to DW June 3-7, flights are booked and resort ressies are made for Art of Animation. We are taking Mr I's parents and our nephew (will be their first time!). This will also be the first trip that we'll have all 3 of our boys together, and Jacob's first trip!! We have already made some dining ressies as well (BOG, Akershus, Garden Grill, Rainforest at AK, Boma for breakfast, and Chef Mickey's). We'll likely do QS for the rest of our meals. So, that's the latest with us. Hope all is well with you all!! 😊

Sorry to hear that, but you do what you have to do that's right for your family , it's been a great pleasure being a dvc member , I love the freedom and for what we pay in dues a yr is less than what a hotel for 1 visit would be and we have a lot of points , but I understand what your saying , it can be a scary decision , a lifetime commitment , and only you and the hubs can decide what's right for your family besides it will be there should you ever change your mind, and yay for trip , I can't believe you planned that much already lol:) - tracsant

Sorry you decided not to become at DVC member, actually I think they lowered the length of membership i think it might have been 50 years when we joined(I promise to my parents ill make good use of it when I'm older! Lol) you can also always change your minds and decide to join another time! But yay about your trip! So how many days is the countdown saying? I'm guessing less then 180 if you've already made dining ressies so yay! - nodell111

Sweet friend, you'll still be there ALL the time, but now you won't have the worry of such a long commitment! Now, let's talk more about this trip in 177 days! Your ressies sound fabulous!! Are you doing Akershus for breakfast? Have you done Garden Grill before? Not that my girls really cared, but we rode Living with the Land right before our dinner at GG. Then, the server told us that the some of our meal came from food they grow right there on that ride! Pretty cool!! At the time my girls were like, "Yeah, yeah, where's Chip?" However, I'm hoping they will think that's pretty cool when they're a little older. Yahoooo on your trip!! I'm so excited for you!!! - BagGal

You know what is best for your family. We have been considering dvc for a couple of years but is doesn't make sense for us for the same reasons. Your up coming trip sounds great & you will have many more after that!! - perdita

I almost joined 2 years ago but really thought about it and the financial that would be necessary. I agree that the time frame should be shorter. That would make more fiscal sense. And looking back I'm kind of glad I didn't join because now I've been laid off, looking for a job and money will be tighter than ever for me. But that's not going to stop me from my yearly pilgrimage to WDW. Also, great ressies so far!!! - Tinkerbell1265

Mrs I we have been on the fence for years about it especially since our friends that we travel with got one but we just always decide against. We don't like that the food selections are so limited with out ressies at DVC hotels. - Bakerjars

I thought the food choices were a bit limited too. And I agree with Mrs. I. There's so many other expenses along with the DVC....air, park tickets, souvenirs & food. If it was all inclusive except for the air fare of course, and for maybe 25 years I would seriously reconsider. Too many outside factors shot me down on DVC. 45 years is a long time, I agree would be nice for a 25 year one or something lower in that area, I wish we could afford it. But you def had to think ahead and it is tough but glad to hear there is a vacation in the works coming up :) - TinkTinkTink

I think that's actually why we passed on it..lol..we don't like to be tied down to anything like that in terms of our vacation time. It's not for everyone,but for others it works out great. Everyone has their own way of doing things. If you ever want to do it in the future though,at least you know that the option is there for you:-) Now on to this upcoming vacation news...lol...i am SO excited for u friend! Sounds great! That's pretty much why we never considered it seriously. It seems like we can always find a good sale or special and we aren't locked into annual dues if something happens. - ally

I totally understand your disappointment. My wife and i have come really close to joining dvc but its to long! you may want to goggle dvcresale.. They have options for as low as$ 60/point
