So disappointed with TSA at MCO. Last year, Jonah got a POTC toy pistol after the ride in their little pirate shop, to take home with him, but it broke earlier this year (just plain worn out after playing with it so much). So, this trip, it was one of the only things on his wish list. We rode the POTC ride and he was so happy to get to pick out a new one, just like the one he had (pictured below). Unfortunately, TSA confescated it this time when we went through security (we had no issues last time). They said it looked too real to allow us to fly with it. Jonah was so heart broken - started crying right there in front of everyone and didn't understand why he couldn't have his gun back. Broke my heart. I promised him I would do my best to find one online to purchase for him when we get home. 😢

We bought that same gun on our last trip. They told us that we had to pack it in our bags and couldn't carry it on. Did you try to carry it on? - disneyworldsbiggestfan

Try calling the park. They can ship one to you. I know Disneyland does this so WDW should do the same - Philliprocks

I'm so sorry that happened. I would have recommended you put it in your checked bag. As you probably know, I work at an international airport (NOT for TSA). I can tell you their employees are not respected (for valid reasons) at SEA either! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad

Poor little man!! If you have a receipt from the park there is a number that you can call them and they will send you one. We seem to call and get something every time we get home. If that doesn't work - I am going in January and I'll get him one! - modisneyluv

I'll look for one at DL this weekend. If I find one I'll get it and mail next week. We had a similar incident happen to us with a small snow globe. We were at WDW the weekend the liquid ban went into place. We never thought of the snow globe being banned. - jacdanfan

The cast member working at the shop outside the Pirates ride told us at checkout to make sure we put it in the checked bags. They should make a habit of telling everyone that. How heartbreaking for your little guy! - brhimler

That is RIDICULOUS!! I know they're trying to keep us safe, but that gun is OBVIOUSLY a toy! My 4-year-old students would know that was a toy! Poor Jonah!!! Call Disney mail order and they will be able to get you another one!!! I'll get you the number. Kate lost a pair of earrings she bought at DTD and I searched all over the Internet trying to find them. When I couldn't, Robert called Disney and they referred him to mail order. This awesome woman went to 3 different stores at DTD til she found them. We paid for them over the phone and she mailed them out. We haven't received them yet, but she was awesome to find them for us! - BagGal

That's awful! Gary already posted about our incident. It was very upsetting! We have had other strange episodes with TSA at MCO. Don't get it. One time they asked me to give them a number from 1 to 3. When I said '3', they counted back in line - which was Gary, and pulled him out for a security check! Tell me how that makes us safer? Good grief. They can really put a damper on the end of your vacation - as if you don't feel bad enough as it is that it's over! - goofygal
