How does everyone save money for your trips? I am TRYING to start saving money and put it away for our next trip, but it is SO HARD. I was wondering what everyone else does? I was almost considering getting a part time job just for extra money....what are everyone's thoughts?

I have a small amount from every paycheck deposited into a savings account & try to forget its there. That way, when I need it (like for a trip to WDW), it's there. It really adds up over time too! - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad  1397.0 #3 4:27PM
thanks...that is a good idea! - ncjal  288.4 #28 4:32PM
Yep, we do the same thing, and it goes to a completely different bank than our normal checking, so we don't miss it, or see it building and become tempted to use it for something else. Out of sight out of mind!! :) - mrsincredible  1189.7 #5 4:47PM
We do like a Christmas Club , so much out of every pay . And don't touch it !!!!!! - skcanfield  563.4 #15 4:48PM
That's the same thing we do. We have what we call chrismas vaca fund. And that is all we use it for. I have x amount of $ taken out each week it's like writting a bill out to me. Then we have that account to make payments to Disney out of. We also have a little more taken out of our taxes so that we get a bigger refund and put that into the account. Save your change. It adds up and we use that for the kids game cards or Disney gift cards. Do any of you have giant eagles around you? We buy the gift cards there during double points to get the gas. Double bang for your buck! You can use them to pay on your rooms! Get the Disney visa to use for discounts. Annual pass works also for discounts. - mmddgp  948.8 #7 5:01PM
Great ideas! And wish we had Giant Eagle stores!!! Love them and Western PA! - DisneyLisa78  44.5 #113 7:58PM
great idea guys! Thanks! - ncjal  288.4 #28 4:54PM
Sorry we can't save money for our trip we went after my hubby got his settlement from getting hit by a car while he was walking into a gas station - jeri814  156.9 #57 5:01PM
sorry to hear that...that is awful! - ncjal  288.4 #28 5:10PM
We usually wing it. I just pay a little here and there for the trip. Then payoff and spending money with income tax. I need to do something different though. I did read on a blog once that a lady gets a $25 Disney gift card every time she is out shopping. I think that's a cool start! - BodinFabFive  26.3 #147 5:29PM
That is usually what we do (use our tax refund) I am hoping to save more money this year that way we can use our refund for something else! - ncjal  288.4 #28 5:43PM
If you find out how email me the info. Man that's cool. - 5disneylovers  1152.5 #6 5:50PM
do you mean she buys a gift card every time she is out shopping? - ncjal  288.4 #28 5:55PM
Yes. She said every time she is out ( her local target and Walgreens sells Disney gift cards). So I have not found a local retailer by me that sells Disney gift cards but I'd they did and I could just throw it in withy groceries or what have you. It would def help. - BodinFabFive  26.3 #147 11:34AM
We try to save as best we can monthly (we try not to use plan b) plan B is pay Using the disney card. Card must be paid off in full by august trip. As a nurse I get overtime all the time. - 5disneylovers  1152.5 #6 5:57PM
that is good you get OT. I am really thinking of picking up a 2nd job. Just to try to catch up on bills and put some money away for Disney. - ncjal  288.4 #28 6:00PM
A great second job that a lot of ppl do is to be a server in a restaurant. You would be surprised how much u can save tgat way thru tips alone. I know someone who bought a house w/those savings..lol..just an idea if u have extra time. It's really not bad - mickeynme  177.5 #52 8:01PM

I use my Disney Visa for everything to earn rewards to use for vacations. I have heard of some people putting money on a Disney gift card everytime they get paid. Cutting out a few movies or eating out throughout the year really adds up too! Like others said, putting a little bit of each paycheck in a savings account can really add up too! - Andrea84  713.9 #10 8:45PM
My family also knows the perfect gift for a Disney fan, Disney gift cards! - Andrea84  713.9 #10 9:11PM
that is good...they won't approve me for a Disney Credit Card =( so I will have to try other ways! - ncjal  288.4 #28 3:50AM
Disney Vacation Club. You pay every month and have your accommodations paid for. The rest-food, airfare, etc. can be saved or paid on a credit card. We have been traveling on free miles for years ! - Sandy  245.8 #1403 1:58AM
how do you get free miles? - ncjal  288.4 #28 3:49AM
