First, I don't know how Nancy gets me to do these things. Hey Gary, let's spend the night at Disneyland (sleeping outside on concrete), it'll be fun. Well, it was, we had a great adventure. Met some wonderful CMs and a really nice couple from Canada.
We got home last night. During that 48 hour period we may have gotten 7 hours of sleep. It was rough and painful at times, but really worth it.
Friday and Saturday we only used our phones for taking pictures, otherwise they were put away. Normally we are posting wait times and uploading photos if we can (usually very difficult because of phone traffic). But we decided we wanted to soak in the experience, so much was happening everywhere.
So you know, we are reluctant to post pictures of Cars Land and the DCA makeover. We avoided looking at all the video and pictures that have been posted before we went. You can only experience a brand new attraction once and we didn't want any spoilers. I would suggest to all of you that want to visit DCA, do the same.
Okay… please don't shoot the messenger. DCA may be the best theme park to date. I am not making this comment based on what I like and don't like, but what a family with children or a wide segment of the population would prefer. Epcot is my favorite park and will always be a sentimental favorite. But DCA is incredible, if you look at the list of attractions and everything it offers, it is mind boggling. It's like Epcot and Hollywood Studios, combined! Wow!
It's all in the details. We really enjoyed the new publication, "The Buena Vista Bugle". It's quite funny. There's a story about the Hollywood Hotel being struck by lightening. Also a story about a price and a mermaid getting married recently. Etc, stories like that. This is surely a collector's item. Based on an article I read someone suggested the Bugle may only exist for a while (12 months?) then could be discontinued. Disneyland published a newspaper, the Disneyland News, in 1955 and quit after a while. So who knows. It really adds to the atmosphere and fun.
Buena Vista Street and the Red Car Trolley are amazing. The stores are so upscale and beautiful! Nancy and I were amazed, jaw dropping beautiful.
Radiator Springs Racers. The queue and storytelling are simply wonderful. So much to see and ponder as you wait, and wait, and wait, and wait. Wait times on Friday were about 5 hours. We didn't ride it Friday (way too tired to even attempt), but did get a chance on Saturday to ride it twice. When you stand there and look at what they did - it is amazing. Cadillac Mtn Range and Ornament Valley are so big you'd think you were in the middle of the desert. Just gorgeous.
Cars Land. Simply stunning. A must see at night with all the neon. Only 3 rides in Cars Land but all fun, fun, fun. And funny. Driving up and down Route 66 you'll find Lightning McQueen, Mater, and Red (Red has his fire nozzle on top of the truck, be careful, you may get soaked!). Full size moving vehicles that do amazing things! Many of the other character cars will be appearing throughout the year.
A shout out to CM Shaun, thank you for the pixie dust on Route 66. What a surprise! And thank you CM Michael for all the information and updates. Thank you CM Matt for making a long, long night tolerable, we really enjoyed meeting you and sharing stories. The CMs were especially amazing the entire weekend. We got a lot of pixie dust, or pity dust, I must have looked dreadfully tired and everyone was just so nice to me.
And good morning, everyone. Happy Father's Day to all. Happy Father's Day, John, thank you for all the wonderful photos last week. And congratulations, Melissa, on your website. We haven't had a chance to visit, but are really looking forward to it.
