Pop disney question? Why are the lights called osborn lights???
Very good question. If you don't mind I'd like to add a follow up question to yours. Did you know there is a Halloween Cat hidden every year in the Osborne Lights display? Do you know why? - jacdanfan

Because Jennings Osborne put them up for his daughter, the neighbors complained of the "nuisance". Disney offered to purchase the display for several years, however must have extended the contract because the are still around - Thankfully - Betsyboo

From Disney's website blog: The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights started modestly in Arkansas as a single home's annual display. Every year, Jennings Osborne and his family set up an elaborate collection of holiday lights and over the years, the collection of lights grew, and grew... and grew! In 1995, the Osborne family decided to share their magic with the world, and Walt Disney World Resort happily offered to become the new permanent home for this exceptional exhibition of holiday cheer. - DizneyGirl

From hiddenmickeyguy.com: It seems that when Mr. Osborne shipped his lights to WDW, an outline of a cat was mixed in with the regular lights. Each year, the Cast Members hide this cat in a different place along the Streets of America. - DizneyGirl

I believe the Osborne Family used to put up these light on their property in Arkansas, but the neighbors kept complaining. They were asked not to have so many lights. They ended up giving them to WDW. - ally
