Hey awesome MWers!! I'm one week out from a much needed visit and I'm looking for suggestions. 1) Does anyone have recommendations for a close-ish beach and 2) Does anyone have a recommendation for a nice-ish restaurant for dinner? The hubby doesn't have an AP so we need to fill a day outside of the parks while being ready to drop the ropes on Friday! As always...thanks for the help!
And we're coming from Fresno so we won't want to go too far South. - LuvMyMinnieMe  180.1 #1861 2:51PM
I'm in Fresno too! We are having a local meet up in August. Check my posts for details! :) - Armenda  994.9 #89 2:57PM

I'm in Tulare! - LisaMouse7531  409.1 #318 5:41PM
Huntington Beach is fun and close by! As far as nice restaurants after Huntington you can drive north to Long Beach and eat on 2nd street. So many nice choices down there, Georges Greek, La Crêperie, etc. Map it out, the driving wouldn't be too far or take too long as long as you don't do it during rush hour. - LisaMouse7531  409.1 #318 2:56PM
La creperie is amazing. Really good food, decently priced, and a fancy-ish ambiance - ladylikesdisney  921.5 #95 3:34PM
Also, their garlic fries give cafe orleans's pomme frites a run for their money - ladylikesdisney  921.5 #95 3:35PM
Huntington Beach is probably the best beach that is close by. If you go south if Huntington, Laguana Beach is a nice place to spend a day and get some good eats. - Disneymba  39.3 #4022 3:39PM
If you like to swim in the ocean, do the stingray shuffle when walking out into the ocean (basically just slide your feet along the sand) to avoid getting stung. Stingrays are in full effect right now! - ladylikesdisney  921.5 #95 3:40PM
Huntington sounds like a great choice. We aren't big ocean swimmers per se...but the kiddo loves to frolic. Good to know about the sting rays! - LuvMyMinnieMe  180.1 #1861 4:05PM
How old is your kid? It's not too bad on the shore, but they get more abundant when you go out a little farther. I was there the other day boogie boarding and felt a few when I was out there. But as long as your child doesn't go out too far all should be okay. Just better to be safe than sorry :) - ladylikesdisney  921.5 #95 4:09PM
She's almost five and just stays along the shore. That would certainly be a bummer of a way to start the trip! Plus she JUST got over her fear of petting them at the zoo. :) - LuvMyMinnieMe  180.1 #1861 4:14PM
I wouldn't tell her then. I think you will be fine if she just likes to wade. Maybe if you or your husband walk along side her and shuffle your feet just to be safe? But I think she should be fine - ladylikesdisney  921.5 #95 4:18PM
What if the mother is creeped out too? ;) - LuvMyMinnieMe  180.1 #1861 4:25PM
In all honesty the sand at Huntington hurts my toesies so I prefer Newport - mermaidhair  176.3 #1911 4:52PM

I need your expert opinions...my family and I will be headed to the parks in two weeks. Do you recommend Thursday afternoon through Friday night or Friday morning through Saturday afternoon? I'm generally a strong believer in early mornings...but being a weekend throws me off. Something to consider, my daughter is four so late nights aren't super late. I'm especially interested in the opinions o  More...
Saturday is amazing at the parks because most AP are blocked out, so it's mainly premium ap holders and visitors from far away there...I say anything that has Saturday in it! - MarshaMouse  2871.9 #15 10:21AM
I agree - MelodyMouse  941.9 #93 10:21AM
Agreed. - splashphotoCM  880.9 #101 10:23AM

Excellent point. Thanks for confirming!!! - LuvMyMinnieMe  180.1 #1861 10:54AM
Friday Saturday that way you can sleep in one morning and be up for rope drop the other! - AshleyLynn22  747.6 #136 12:01AM
Thanks. I think that's the way I'm leaning too. Although there will be no sleeping in. :) - LuvMyMinnieMe  180.1 #1861 10:15AM

After all of the excitement of the celebration tonight I thought I'd better make myself an official MWer! I don't get to be there in person for three weeks...and will do a whole lot of living vicariously between now and then! :)
