We just booked our disney vacation!! I'm the one who wrote about not being sure if we should go or not. We made our decision. It'll be worth it for me and my mini to go on thunder mountain again. As soon as she decided she liked it, they closed it for repairs. So we'll be there next weekend!! And the don't know we're going yet. :)
Yay!!  - ythdudette  935.1 #151 12:04PM
Do you have a surprise story for them? My parents once told us we were going to Monterey and we actually went to Disney. It was so fun! - ThinkTink23  22.1 #5913 12:11PM
We're not sure. We're afraid that if we say we're going somewhere our oldest will suspect something so I think we're going to tell them we are going to sea world ( again) and then just drive to Disneyland instead. I think they'll forgive us. :) - katiesarahmommy  211.5 #1696 12:38PM

I have a question. I know you can't predict the future but we have a chance to come to Disneyland memorial weekend. We have not been in a year and might not get to come back for a very long time. My question is that since it'll be after the 24 hour thing do you think it'll be horrific on the sat and Sunday? I don't want our only chance to go to be a waste since we can't just come back in a few wee  More...
Just go and have fun. It will be busy, so pack your patience. And don't base your 'Fun Meter' on how many 'rides' you get to go on. Catch a parade, catch one of the many shows, discover things you had not seen before. take it in and have fun! - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  3398.7 #26 3:43PM
This ^ - BombFrogCM  666.7 #235 7:50PM
What a great reply!  Love the "pack your patience" line.  We go every year during the summer when it's super busy.  It's not about "how much" but just being there! - msdizmaui  581.6 #286 12:52AM
For some reason we only come during holiday weekends. With that said, it will be busy, but if you get there at opening, play for a few hours, get fast passes, take an afternoon break and then plan on being there til close, it is totally worth it. You may only be able to ride everything once, but I think once is better than nothing. - ThinkTink23  22.1 #5913 3:43PM
^^^Exactly this. :)  - DeadliestPassholder  171.8 #2206 4:38PM
Yep, I agree 100%.  The crowds can be miserable if you become a part of them, but if you're proactive and plan ahead, you can separate yourselves and work around the crowd.  We have only gone during peak weekends in the last 3-4 years, and our trips are very few and far between now, but we learned how to maximize our vacay.  Everyone in the group has to be on board with getting up early and getting through the gates before rope drop, and it's a good idea to sit down ahead of time, explain this, and give everyone the chance to choose one "must-do" attraction, then make it a point to do those things in the mornings (before about 10-11 o'clock).  Be ok with not riding EVERYTHING, and relax with food/drinks, parades, shows, and less popular rides in the afternoon/evening. Disney has tons of surprising and pleasant hidden treasures and peaceful nooks and crannies to explore. Good luck!  I think it's still worth doing--it just takes more planning, coordination, and energy in the mornings!  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  507.9 #343 6:26PM
Spoonful_O_Sugar said it best.  Get there before rope drop.  Each person gets 1 must do.  Get FP if available for must dos early.  Then do those must dos before 10 or 11.  In addition everyone is blocked out except Premium for Saturday and Sunday so this could possibly help the crowd factor.  - Gabster1forDodgers  523.2 #328 7:47PM
Enjoy what you can and enter knowing everything you love may not be accomplished but it'll still be fun  - MarshaMouse  3640.0 #25 9:26PM
I understand your dilemma. It's takes a lot of money and planning for us to visit the parks so I like to get as much out of it as I can. Good luck with your decision.  - TrueFromOzLovesDisney  434.6 #423 1:07AM

hi. we're staying at PP tonight and its our first time. can anyone help with some questions? where do you walk to get to the front gates? and where is the guest parking located? any help or tips would be appreciated. we've stayed at both dl & grand hotels before.
Parking is right at hotel and you just walk across the street and cut through The Grand. Walk down DTD to gates! Have a great time! - ShariRenee  3852.6 #22 1:32PM
Cross the street and go through the Grand. They have valet parking in front of the hotel. - kskating  531.0 #322 1:32PM
Thanks. - katiesarahmommy  211.5 #1696 1:46PM
If you go down the street where you go to the parking structure and it splits between parking and DTD, stay on the DTD side and just keep going straight. The hotel and parking will be on your right - SPandEvLover  2685.8 #34 1:52PM

We finally decided to go to the halloween party this friday. Never been before. My question is at what time can we get our wrist bands? We will be in the park all day but will be going back to our hotel and would like to have them before we go. we are APs so i know we can get them before 4. Thanks
I think you answered your own question.. 4 pm - DisneyMe2Death  865.9 #165 9:28AM
Im pretty sure you can get it earlier if you are already in the park. - katiesarahmommy  211.5 #1696 9:32AM
search baseballmickeycm post.as a passholder you can enjoy the park during the normal operating hours but you will have to check in to receive your wristbands. if you are in the park earlier there is a check in in frontierland by the shooting gallery around 4 if not you will have to brave the longer lines at the front gate. - pikarich  2383.1 #44 9:42AM

We walked by it several times coming and going between disneyland and the hilton. It looked very nice and at a nice location. We wished we were staying there each time we dragged ourselves passed it at 1:00 am on our way back to our room. - jjdq  338.0 #611 5:25PM
We stayed at the Carousel Inn and Suites last time. It was clean and only a 5min walk. The continental breakfast wasn't the greatest tho. We are staying at the Marriot next week. It's supposed to be one of the better hotels in the area. - PrincessDelaine  187.4 #2000 5:12PM
We stayed ay the carousel last weekend and had a horrible experience... Ac broke, fridge n microwave didnt work, no remote, and no proper bath mat in which my 4 yr old slipped and hit his head on the back of the tub.. Dont think we will be returning there anytime soon. - DisneyMe2Death  865.9 #165 5:17PM

Does anyone know what the park hours are like the weekend before thanksgiving and the weekend before xmas? We would like to go for some day trips but dont really want to go if it closes at like 6. thanks.
i don't think the park ever closes at 6, think 8pm would be the min. but i could be wrong - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  3398.7 #26 2:33PM
It may close at 6 if the cm holiday party is happening one of those days. - lostgirl7988  692.4 #221 2:47PM
I believe it's around 8 if I remember right from our last trip... - lynniesue42  232.4 #1420 2:34PM
I think it only closes at 6 if there is a special event in the park that night! - lynniesue42  232.4 #1420 2:34PM
I think that time of year is 8 or 9. Check the Disneyland website and see if they're up now (I doubt it) and keep checking. They try to post hours as far in advance as possible. - lostgirl7988  692.4 #221 2:49PM
According to Touringplans.com (which I have a membership to) Saturday, November 12th at DL is estimated to open at 8:00AM and remain open till 12:00AM.  DCA is estimated to open at 10:00AM and closed at 9:00PM.  These are based on historical times but with the expansion to DCA I would expect that may change.  The Saturday and Sunday before Christmas are the same.  Again DCA will likely be open the max amount of hours.  The holidays are a very busy time of year for DL and DCA. - AKMouse  421.6 #443 3:00PM
