I had heard somewhere that the folks at Disney were PLANNING on it....I just didn't know if there was anything I didn't know about. I LIKE the recordings of the show live, but a mixed-for-earbuds cd wouldn't hurt :) - J-Malo  5.5 #13964 5:40PM

Really excited to go in about 2 months! Anyone wanna tell me how Carsland is? Thanks!
Easiest way to describe Carsland is AMAZING! You feel like you walked into the movie! Don't miss the breakfast selection at flo's, pear-a-dice drink from cozy cone, and Radiator Springs Racers regardless of the line! - Mickeymouse28  367.1 #525 6:42PM

Kinda more related to California than DL, but living in mid-western US they're both connected in my mind! :) I wanted to get any opinions on the new Beach Boys CD "that's why god made the radio". What do ya think? Any songs remind you of the parks?
I haven't hear this album so I can't add input, but I do miss heading the beach boys as you walk into DCA. Heard California girls and I started reminiscing - TikiJOSEsWingman  332.4 #629 10:28PM
Saw them over MDW in Las Vegas and I instantly loved this song as soon as they started playing. The Beach Boys songs that reminds me the most of DCA are 'Fun, Fun, Fun' and 'I Get Around'. - KermitFan13  642.9 #245 10:50PM

Had anyone stayed in the Fairfield Inn across the way from DL after the recent renovations? Looks pretty good to me...but I can't be sure. Any comments will be helpful! Thanks!
We have...about a month ago. Really nice and so close to the park. We walked in just a couple minutes. We got the Disney themed room, they let us choose which theme when we checked in. Clean, close, super nice staff....would definitely recommend. - MandJloveMickey  212.6 #1671 10:24PM
We stay there and like it very much. If you are looking in to other hotels then the HOJO is right next to the Fairfield and you can get a MW discount.  - Fanatic4Disney  267.2 #1040 10:26PM

When riding Big Thunder Mountain there's what is known as "the goat trick." At the bend with the goat chewing the dynamite stick you keep your eyes on him for as long as possible, craning your neck around along with the turn. This gives you a rather thrilling feeling as you come round the bend. Anyone else ever do what I'm talking about? I not, try it sometime. The sensation cannot be properly exp  More...

I'll be going 23rd - 31st of august....LAST time we went in this time period it was WONDERFUL. Tame crowds, but not too thin, good weather....Tell me, oh wise MWers....was this an anomaly? Or have we struck on a golden time of the year to be in the parks?
I knoweth not,for my parents fear of crowds and never take us children in the golden summertime to Disneyland... - theRealDisneygirlforevr  175.3 #2149 9:14PM
Thank you all! Now, we have ALWAYS gone in different times of the summer, so maybe we just gauge varrying degrees of 'crowded'. We know it's a busy season....but Cali is made for summer :) to me anyways. - J-Malo  5.5 #13964 9:26PM
Lol, yeah it's gonna be hot most likely, but I think that you are not going at peak time, so it will be crowded but not unbearable hopefully! - PinkElephants  711.1 #206 9:28PM

I found an old tape with the most unlikely of sound bites on it: the toon town radio broadcasts heard from Mickey's house! It's fun to listen to this stuff, especially since not a whole lot of people pay close attention to it.

Ok, time to cut thru the propaganda. I wanna know what you all think of the changes being made to DCA. What do you agree/disagree with? What was not quite right/perfect with it in the first place? I wanna hear from some strong opinions here, so don't hold back!
I love the changes. I think Buena Vista St is going to be amazing. The only thing I don't like is that they got rid of the California letters and Golden Gate bridge :(  - Jaytasmic  373.3 #513 8:21PM
I think that changes DO have to be made, I like a lot of them (buena vista St., world of color), but I think that there's a growing lack of coherence in the park. The original CONCEPT was genius, albeit a touch devoid of that Disney charm, in my opinion. I think that while their trying to bring in more classic Disney stuff, the park is losing identity. - J-Malo  5.5 #13964 8:25PM
I like changes. Bringing in the Disney magic touch (TLM: Ariel's undersea adventure, World of Color, renaming Mullholland Maddness Goofy's Sky School) breathes life into a park that was becoming stale faster than the folks at Disney were hoping. Attractions like Soaring, ToT, GRR and Screaming Cali will keep the park from losing that California feel imo. I am VERY excited for the opening of Buena Vista St and riding those old red trollies. I do wish DCA was getting something else instead of Cars land though. The whole concept just seems like a big marketing ploy to get the parents of 6-10 year-old boys to buy more Cars merchandise... - littlemsfrecklesCM  249.9 #1201 8:58PM
I miss the golden gate bridge and I loved the bakery, otherwise I cannot wait for June. As long as they never take away the bear mountain I will be fine. - BlackCanary86  48.6 #4298 9:46PM

The simple pleasures of the parks are brought to the forefront of my mind during slow periods of the day. How I miss the place where fine dining, giant cartoon characters, pyrotechnics, and blood-curdling screams echoing over lavish landscaping can coexist in complete and utter atmospheric tranquility.

Yesterday I found a DLR napkin in my basement mixed in with a bunch of old disney stuff.....a napkin? Really? What're the weird "souvenirs" you bring home from the parks? (And no, the napkin was not used....what a gross thought! You oughta be ashamed!)
I always pick up the daily schedules. It's not even to check the times of shows...it's just to collect I guess I'm a little OCD lol! Also I grab a lot of napkins when I'm near the dispenser in case I need them so I stash them in my backpack - princessVanessa  384.3 #490 8:57PM

We are planning a vacation to Cali/DLR at the end of August (AW yeah!!), and we'll be staying in the Fairfeild inn across from the parks. It LOOKS pretty nice...but does anyone here know much about it? I'm picky about hotels. Any comments ranging from "that weird painting in the bathroom" to how much of the parks you can see from your window will be greatly appreciated.
We've stayed at Fairfield quite a few times. It's clean and the beds are comfortable. The hojo gets great reviews and has the same amenities and you can get a MW discount. Haven't stayed there, but planning on it in the future. - Fanatic4Disney  267.2 #1040 9:09AM

We ways stay at the candy cane inn. Great little hotel. They have standard, deluxe and premium rooms on 2 levels. The standard rooms are the front half of the motel each side of pool. The deluxe rooms are the back half for $10 more. The premium rooms are in the very back. The candy cane inn also has a free breakfast which has pastries, fruits, ceriels, and yogurts. That alone saves us about $30 dollars a day for 3 of us. The staff is very friendly and they have a shuttle that runs every half hour, but it is on the same side of DL on Katilla. Just walk south and it is the first motel you run into. Voted #2 of Anaheim motels on trip advisor last I looked. Standard rooms are usually 139 a night, deluxe 149 and premium 179. They have a nice heated salt water pool and hottub. And as I said earlier, free continental breakfast. My family will be there for 11 days end of august, beginning of sept. Hope to see you there. - radarwatcher1  53.2 #4169 5:54PM

I'm rather new to this whole posting thing, but I had a random question. Something my family will always comment on about the parks are the various aromas. Are we the only ones who find scent to be an element worthy of acknowledgement? What're YOUR favorite scents in the parks? Be it a ride or restaurant smell, I wanna hear from ya. Are the aromas of Disneyland worth mention, or are we just crazy?
Welcome to MW and posting! As far as your question -- I have to say that I LOLd at "scent an element worthy of acknowledgement," so very formal! :) But yes, I agree, one of my favorite weird ones is the water in Pirates of the Caribbean! - BreadAndButterfly  505.3 #344 2:29PM
