So, maybe I'm being a big baby...but I had a bit of trouble with the humidity at Disneyland yesterday. I plan on going a lot this summer, so does anyone have any tips for the heat and humidity for those of us who are a little sensitive to that kind of thing? I didn't let it get in the way too much, but I took a few breaks in shops when it was getting to be too much. Any and all tips are welcom  More...

Maybe even an umbrella.  Can assist with averting direct sunlight.   Use a funky one.  You can pretend your leading an odd tour group.   - Butterlina  1537.4 #99 1:49PM

I have a huge problem with humidity as well, so I feel your pain! Everyone has given really good advice so far, but i'll pipe in my overall list. Drink lots of water and eat lightly. I feel like when I eat heavier meals it makes me sluggish, making the high heat even worse. I always bring a powder brush to keep feeling matte & dry, and a spray bottle for my arms and legs to cool them down. A damp napkin to the back of the neck never hurts either. Sometimes it's nice, like you said, to simply escape into the air conditioning for a while :) - punzshel  0.5 #77436 2:40PM

We're here for our only summer visit and I want to be sure the little gets fabulous viewing for fireworks tonight. Suggestions? The plan it to catch Paint the Night and then stay put for fireworks. (I'm not opposed to saving a spot while the husband runs around with her, if that's what it takes) Thanks for the tips!

we started waiting around 1:15ish yesterday. Thanks to @MickeyLumboCM . It was AWESOME & SPECTACULAR  - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5412.8 #17 5:49PM
The hubs has vetoed waiting so long. Boo :( - MackeyMouse  79.9 #3803 5:59PM
The fire works start right after paint the night. As soon as paint the night is over they have everyone move into the middle of main street.  When we were there on June 3-5 we had to save our spot on mainstreet directly after the soundsational parade. We waited four hours taking turns saving the spot.  It was very worth it.   - Lilbitodisneycrazy  221.0 #1653 1:34PM
Holy moly! Four hours! Oy vey. Anything to see the joy on my little's face though. Thanks for the information! - MackeyMouse  79.9 #3803 1:45PM
We did the same thing.  We walked up at the end of Soundsational and saved a spot in the shade.  We waited  over 4.5 hours for Paint the Night, but had a ton of fun with the people around us.  After it was over they moved us into the street for viewing.  That part was awful.  We were crammed in like sardines and so my kids could not see.  We couldn't see either because everyone was holding up their phones to record everything.  Next time we are going to wait in front of the castle. - 1Princess3Princes  453.7 #447 4:27PM
On Saturday I sat right in front of the castle at 7pm. I was with my 3 girls and used two beach towels to save our places.  We were able to see PTN because everyone stayed sitting down.  It was awesome.  I didn't think we'd be able to see it but we did.  The fireworks were my favorite by far!!!!! - mommy2cvc  191.6 #2019 6:05PM
Yeah, we waited 4 hours, but that also meant we got a bench.  By 5 I think all the benches were taken already. - dianeburns1998  46.1 #4664 6:23PM

So I'm planning our August trip, but I'm having a hard time figuring out where to stay. We normally stay at one of the resort hotels, but the prices right now are crazy. I know a lot of people like the Howard Johnsons, but our kids are preteens. It seems to cater to the younger kids. Any thoughts?

What kind of price range and will you want to walk, park, or take a hotel shuttle?  We love staying on property, but it is very expensive--can only do it once every few years.  We stayed at Embassy Suites a few times when we first started visiting DL (2005, I think).  We loved it--free breakfast and free happy hour (wine, beer, and a few simple drinks for adults, sodas and Shirley temples for kids, and popcorn for everyone).  I stayed there as a teen with my parents and thought it was fun.  But, it is not walking distance.  We have used Priceline in recent years and been placed at Marriott Suites (on Harbor, not walking distance), Holiday Inn (by M&F parking, walking distance) and Red Lion (on Harbor, walking distance).  All were clean and easy, but nothing special in terms of ambiance/experience.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  593.0 #320 2:44PM
you say free happy hour?!?!?! Wow!! I need to check that out!! - brodysmommy  406.2 #511 2:57PM
I love the free happy hour thing too. You just need to be there to enjoy it! - Yeti_Ing  62.8 #4159 3:01PM
πŸ˜‚ it's pretty fun-nothing fancy, but we found it to be a nice little treat before we headed over to the parks in the evening for dinner - Spoonful_O_Sugar  593.0 #320 3:30PM
We LOVE Embassy Suites, we have not stayed at one in Anaheim but we have stayed at them in Portland, Seattle San Fran etc and they are always fabulous. - dianeburns1998  46.1 #4664 5:22PM
you will not mess up with embassy suites! ooh i love that brand... coz of FREE BFAST and HAPPY HOUR!!! Too bad, their hotel is way far of a walk to the parks - otilegna  2171.4 #64 6:12PM
Our favorites are the Anabella and Marriott and Sheraton. - 1Princess3Princes  453.7 #447 4:02PM
We just got back and stayed at Springhill Suites on Ball Rd.  Walked everyday, about a 15 minute walk.  We loved this hotel and free breakfast. - dsnylvrlv  5.2 #16966 5:38PM
We usually stay at Red Lion about a mile away, but easy walking.  Breakfast buffet included with really good bacon.  We've also stayed at Carousel Inn and Suites for convenience of being across from main gate. Have found both for less than $150 a night - duckymomo  43.9 #4755 5:43PM

Fantasmic Dinning Package. I did the River Belle Terrace Fantasmic dinning Tuesday and thought it was great! The food was fine but having reserved seating front and center was amazing! Blue Bayou & River Belle dining passes are in the same area. Great view of the show. I would do it again.

I have a friend who does it every trip she makes to town- I will have to try it one of these days. Thanks for the review! - missariel33  2094.6 #65 6:30PM

I'm still confused. Is it sitting in chairs, sitting on the ground, or standing?  What's the difference between RB and BB? - Taunton  462.1 #436 6:32PM
Sitting on the ground. BB is better food, more expensive, and you get a cushion to sit on. Seating area is the same. The area is not packed and everyone is required to sit, so everyone can see.  - BRabbit  581.0 #327 6:36PM

Thank you...our family stayed to watch the 11pm performance last night...we walked to Town Square about fifteen minutes before showtime and secured a great spot. There was a crowd but not the sea of humanity like the first show is. It seems to be the "new normal" for nights at Disneyland will be if one wants to view the fireworks from Main Street you have to watch the first night parade and secure a spot early...right after the 4:30pm Soundsational...nights at Disney will certainly change now with all the new nighttime entertainment offerings. - uscdisneyteacher  7533.5 #7 9:27AM

You can ask a CM at the line, and they will lead you over.  It's basically a room with a screen that shows what you see out the submarine window on the ride.  It's so nice.  I hadn't been in the subs in years before I found out about this.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  593.0 #320 8:49AM

I have a Fantasmic Dinner question. At the River Belle Terrace---if I have a 7:50 pm reservation w/Fantasmic pass-how does this work? Is the terrace there reserved in the evenings now because of this? If so-how fast do I have to finish and be kicked out of my seat? (Can i stay in my seat and watch fantasmic from there?) Also---do you know where viewing area is for the river belle meal? And finally  More...

Riverbell is now FP dining only for dinner. The Riverbell seating area is along the water. Typically they can get you out of the dining area in an hour on average. The difference between Riverbelle and the on the go is the viewing area. Riverbelle has its own section where as the on-the-go comes with a regular FP.  - BaseballMickey_CM  7046.2 #9 4:49PM
So the seating is worth it for the river belle? And how early do they make you line up and do we not get to choose between 9pm or 10:45 Fantasmic? Do you just get what you get and don't throw a fit - haha! - TinkerSchelle  1683.2 #91 5:12PM
Usually they pick the 9:00 show for the dining reservations depending on how many dining guests there are.  - BaseballMickey_CM  7046.2 #9 7:15PM
And has anyone found the menu? I can't find it online for the 3 course dinner options (going with picky eaters) - TinkerSchelle  1683.2 #91 5:15PM
One more question. Is there no actual seating for Fantasmic?  Is it all standing up, like WOC is?  I would love to know all these answers, too! - MeridaFan  3550.6 #36 6:38PM
Yes it's similar to WOC but the viewing areas have more elbow room than WOC.  - BaseballMickey_CM  7046.2 #9 7:10PM

You know you want that feeling of entering the gates and walking into DL! Watch this little video, and hopefully it transports you here for a min! Enjoy!! πŸ˜ƒπŸŽ‰ (I tried to load this in the parks earlier, but it wouldn't.)

Gah!!  This made me tear up!  That whistle, the sights, the chatter of people, the smells, the music on Main Street.  It's all perfection!  Thank you so much for sharing this, such a brilliant idea.  The simplicity of walking into the gates is something we really don't appreciate enough.πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’– - DisneyFanZoe  1217.9 #128 1:07PM
