My family and are attending the party next Friday night for the first time. We are seaon pass holders so we know the lay of the land. But, does anyone have any advice on the actual party??? Do's and dont's??? My youngest is 11. So excited!!!  - Mickeysgalpal  4.4 #20602 2:15PM
It depends on what you're looking forward to. Bring a big bag or backpack to put your candy in because the bag they give you will be full within 5 minutes.  The fireworks are worth watching, as are the Cadaver Dans who will be floating on Rivers of America. You can also get pictures with several characters, some of whom are only available during MHP. The absolute must is if you can stay until the end at Main Street station the villains are all dancing. - UTDISNEYFAMILY  1859.7 #89 2:36PM
Eat before the party. Not all restaurants/quick service are open during the party which could make things challenging if not on Main Street.  - BibbidiBobbidiMe  230.8 #1580 3:59PM

We're here for our only summer visit and I want to be sure the little gets fabulous viewing for fireworks tonight. Suggestions? The plan it to catch Paint the Night and then stay put for fireworks. (I'm not opposed to saving a spot while the husband runs around with her, if that's what it takes) Thanks for the tips!

we started waiting around 1:15ish yesterday. Thanks to @MickeyLumboCM . It was AWESOME & SPECTACULAR  - misschurro  6192.6 #18 5:49PM
The hubs has vetoed waiting so long. Boo :( - MackeyMouse  85.8 #3785 5:59PM
The fire works start right after paint the night. As soon as paint the night is over they have everyone move into the middle of main street.  When we were there on June 3-5 we had to save our spot on mainstreet directly after the soundsational parade. We waited four hours taking turns saving the spot.  It was very worth it.   - Lilbitodisneycrazy  221.0 #1700 1:34PM
Holy moly! Four hours! Oy vey. Anything to see the joy on my little's face though. Thanks for the information! - MackeyMouse  85.8 #3785 1:45PM
We did the same thing.  We walked up at the end of Soundsational and saved a spot in the shade.  We waited  over 4.5 hours for Paint the Night, but had a ton of fun with the people around us.  After it was over they moved us into the street for viewing.  That part was awful.  We were crammed in like sardines and so my kids could not see.  We couldn't see either because everyone was holding up their phones to record everything.  Next time we are going to wait in front of the castle. - 1Princess3Princes  587.1 #336 4:27PM
On Saturday I sat right in front of the castle at 7pm. I was with my 3 girls and used two beach towels to save our places.  We were able to see PTN because everyone stayed sitting down.  It was awesome.  I didn't think we'd be able to see it but we did.  The fireworks were my favorite by far!!!!! - mommy2cvc  215.6 #1768 6:05PM

So I'm planning our August trip, but I'm having a hard time figuring out where to stay. We normally stay at one of the resort hotels, but the prices right now are crazy. I know a lot of people like the Howard Johnsons, but our kids are preteens. It seems to cater to the younger kids. Any thoughts?

What kind of price range and will you want to walk, park, or take a hotel shuttle?  We love staying on property, but it is very expensive--can only do it once every few years.  We stayed at Embassy Suites a few times when we first started visiting DL (2005, I think).  We loved it--free breakfast and free happy hour (wine, beer, and a few simple drinks for adults, sodas and Shirley temples for kids, and popcorn for everyone).  I stayed there as a teen with my parents and thought it was fun.  But, it is not walking distance.  We have used Priceline in recent years and been placed at Marriott Suites (on Harbor, not walking distance), Holiday Inn (by M&F parking, walking distance) and Red Lion (on Harbor, walking distance).  All were clean and easy, but nothing special in terms of ambiance/experience.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  605.5 #328 2:44PM

We usually stay at Red Lion about a mile away, but easy walking.  Breakfast buffet included with really good bacon.  We've also stayed at Carousel Inn and Suites for convenience of being across from main gate. Have found both for less than $150 a night - duckymomo  44.6 #4896 5:43PM

Question: as an AP holder are you guys receiving info/invitations about special events and such in the mail?? If not how do you find out about these?

i look at the facebook/disneyland annual passholders page.  and the disney parks blog. - MsTikiMermadam  679.2 #283 2:14PM
Thank you! - magicalflash  43.9 #4938 9:47AM
I have been a AP holder for years and have not received anything about special events. Maybe because I'm a deluxe pass holder and not premium   - palomine96  20.6 #7020 11:08AM
I am a premium pass holder and have never received anything. Wondering how everyone else who is finds out.  - magicalflash  43.9 #4938 11:11AM
I remember receiving one invitation to an event but we could not attend. - MrsFletch  233.6 #1541 11:14AM
Hmm, do it sounds like I need to pay better attention to evens posted on here and check other online resources. Thanks so much everyone for the suggestions. Glad to know I'm not the oh 1 not getting anything, lol.  - magicalflash  43.9 #4938 9:53AM
We tried to register our AP's online but it said they were already registered to another account. This reminded me to call today and fix that haha - MellieKay  264.7 #1189 9:57AM

The countdown is on for the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration 24-Hour event, May 22-23. If you’re anything like me, you like to plan your day in the parks based on where you want to eat. In addition to the cupcakes and drinks I   More...

Oh god! So many things I want to try!! Thanks for the post! - thatgirljenn  1682.2 #98 11:37AM
Seems like DCA got the short end of the stick with food offerings. That sandwich from carnation looks so yummy though! - missmimi90  2014.5 #75 11:45AM
That was the only thing that really stood out to me also as looking really good - Dave   13397.8 #2 12:00PM
It's not their 60th :p - CM_Shadowgamer  2515.7 #52 12:06PM
Yet they are decorating Carthay and getting a new WOC for the 60th. If DCA isn't a part of it, maybe DCA shouldn't be open for the extended hours of the event. It's the anniversary of Disneyland Resort. DCA is part of the resort. - missmimi90  2014.5 #75 12:10PM
Oh I know, it's just a DL vs DCA rivalry comment. Just like we have the west side (best side) vs East Side rivalry in DL. - CM_Shadowgamer  2515.7 #52 1:34PM
I didn't know a rivalry existed πŸ˜‚ that's kind of interesting! - missmimi90  2014.5 #75 1:40PM
Mocha chip funnel cake? Might have to try that!! - duckchub  557.8 #355 7:41AM

Menu choices for River belle Fantasmic dining.

Tagged in: Food
We ate there last trip.  The chicken was really good.  If you ask to sit outside by the railing you can watch Fantasmic as you eat.  Then you get a fast pass to see it again!  That's what I did.  Lol!  - Sharkgrrl19  248.9 #1344 12:59AM

no I always loved to sing my own made up lyrics and then see what the folks waiting make of it. - Plumiegirl  9814.5 #7 5:45PM

I've never been here before where is it located? Sorry if it's an obvious question - Disneyrockstar  184.2 #2172 3:17PM
This is one of my favorite little areas--it's in the Animation building in DCA.  If you follow the ramp to the Sorcerer's Workshop, and keep walking through that area, you'll stumble upon it. :)  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  605.5 #328 3:41PM
Inside animation academy in back and theres a ramp that goes down below... it very nice and worth seeing! - JollyRoger5  3835.1 #36 3:42PM
