Sooo do I have to call in to renew to be able to bypass the down payment once pass expires? I was looking on FAQ page for renewing and it directed me to purchase new pass.
You have 30 days from today to renew without paying a down payment. - Armenda  1135.5 #128 8:37PM
What she said. - LaPearleNoir  1247.6 #107 9:08PM
I'm not sure about any grace periods but here's what the FAQ states : NO DOWN PAYMENT – if you renew your pass before it expires, you don’t have to pay the $75 down payment with the new payment plan option! You also still get a discount for renewing before your expiration date (on Premium and Deluxe only you save $20). Hope this helps! - MsLeila  133.0 #2835 8:46PM
Say your pass expired feb 1. If you renew tomorrow w/o a down payment your pass will expire feb 1 2014. If you pay a down payment it will expire the first day you use your pass. I've only renewed passes in park though not online. Like others said I believe you have 30 days to renew but w/o a down payment your renewal date is your expiration date. Hope this makes sense. - Nicole  380.2 #522 9:07PM
I renewed mine 5 days after they expired and didn't have to pay down payment and they still gave me the $20 off. The only thing is charge your first month like a week after you renew. The cm had told me this when I was renewing. also your pass will still have your original expiration date. I just renewed like two weeks ago so nothing hopefully has changed. Hope this helped. - stevesdisneyprincess  110.3 #3237 9:15PM

Thank you all so much for your help. Half of our passes would not let me upgrade today for some reason and of course the offices are closed.

The last time we were there it seemed like the right side tracks were way smoother then the left side by far. The new cars they put on are nice but the ride is still painful.

I honestly don't think your ever to young or old to visit Disneyland! Our older girls first went around 6-7 however, our youngest was 3months when she first went, she is now 6 and has been many times and loves evey bit of it!
Yeah I don't even know if I can wait until he/she is one! =/ lol I'm ready to make a trip already n I'm barely 2 months! LoL - MissMamyMouse  178.2 #2147 8:55PM
You must bring your baby to the parks on the way home from hospital. - TrueFromOzLovesDisney  450.5 #418 9:22PM
Congrats. My daughte's first visit was for her first birthday and she has been going ever since then. We take her twice or sometimes three times a month. She is now 3 and loves disney very much. I am currently 2 months pregnant also so i believe baby #2 first visit will be when s/he is around 3 months or a little more. - ForeverLove  143.1 #2677 1:23PM
Thank you! Yeah I'm due in April so I'm thinking for Halloween or Christmas time but maybe sooner! LoL - MissMamyMouse  178.2 #2147 1:34PM
congratulations you guys! we absolutely LOVE just being at disneyland, so we brought our daughter when she was about 1. let me just say, trying to push a stroller through crowded disneyland all day is nuts. honestly, bringing her at that time was more for us than her :) ages 2-4 were the awesome years (for all of us). at that age kids love the characters, colors and parades. around 4 or so they can start going on a lot of the "children's" attractions. no matter when you go it's awesome to "re-discover" disneyland through their eyes. - OhanaPhoto  3234.3 #30 1:59PM

It's hard to go through life with a very unusual name. So you might really want to consider how a future child of yours would feel having a name like that. Just my opinion. - DisneyFanZoe  1106.9 #135 11:20PM

Having a different name is very rewarding and frustrating at times. I get tons of compliments, but my name is often mispronounced even after they are told. - Armenda  1135.5 #128 11:46PM
When my son asks why I named him Tucson I'm going to tell him you gave me the idea! 😝 love you twin!! - AshleyLynn22  791.2 #198 11:49PM
I was always jealous of my friends who could find their names on keychains and stickers and stuff. People still cannot say my name correctly and I have to spell it out for almost everyone. I love my name now, but I didn't really embrace it till after my mid 20's. - OutNumberedMom  800.3 #196 11:49PM
Exactly ONM. I just wanted to be like everyone else when I was younger. But your name is beautiful! And yeah, I'm sure you can imagine what I get Army.... :D πŸ˜‚ - DisneyFanZoe  1106.9 #135 11:53PM
Oh yea..I don't even want to pronounce it. I'm glad you go by Zoe! haha - Armenda  1135.5 #128 11:57PM

Eh, oh well. I love the name, and that's what matters. I'm not one who likes to be like everyone else, and I hope my child will like being unique as well lol. - AnaheimsMom  238.1 #1374 12:01AM
Lol Twin!! You should name your son Milwaukee 😁 - AnaheimsMom  238.1 #1374 12:03AM
ces, nicole is the WEIRDEST name i've ever heard. fits the person though. ;P - nicoleface  1749.8 #73 12:03AM
Haha Army!! Face is not a weird name. 😜 And really, it's not all that matters. Your child should come first, not just what you like, especially when several of us with different names are telling you it wasn't fun. But you're young, clearly, hopefully you'll reconsider. - DisneyFanZoe  1106.9 #135 12:11AM
I named my boys very plain, normal names. And funny enough they are the only William and David in their grade. I think an unusual name that is unusual because it's an ethnic name is one thing. But giving a child a name just to be different is selfish. You don't have to live with that name. The child does. And you may change your mind by the time you have your girl, or your husband vetoes the name. Or you name her Anaheim. Doesn't matter, as long as you really thought about all the sides and opinions. - OutNumberedMom  800.3 #196 12:19AM
I'm 21, I won't be having kids anytime soon. But it's not like im going to ask my newborn child what she would like to be named. My parents chose my name because they liked it, same with your parents. I don't see myself picking the name Mary just because it's normal, because like I said, I like to be different and I want to teach my children that it's ok to be different. - AnaheimsMom  238.1 #1374 12:20AM
Young, like I said. And it's obvious you aren't a Mama. You wouldn't think that way if you were. Having a weird name doesn't teach a child that it's ok to be different. It just points to you and how you think. Talk to us in 10 years and we'll see where you are. I'll bet money, you'll wonder what the heck you were thinking. - DisneyFanZoe  1106.9 #135 12:26AM
Actually, my aunt named me because my parents thought I was going to be a boy and had only thought of Eric for a name. I think it was an "Oh well" moment - cesium55  531.6 #334 12:26AM
ces, you would have made a WONDERFUL eric. 😜 - nicoleface  1749.8 #73 12:29AM

I have classmates named 'Rock' and 'Rusty'... Just because their parents thought it would be cool to name their kid something different and "fun" they had to go through their entire childhood with those names, getting picked on even by teachers. Unique names are great and all but I would definitely consider the negative consequences that could arise. - Jenniferr  506.7 #359 12:43AM
Well there was Rock Hudson... but there's also Rusty Griswold - cesium55  531.6 #334 12:45AM
but Rusty was a nickname for Russell.. my friend's legal name was literally Rusty LOL I didn't believe it when I first met him.. - Jenniferr  506.7 #359 12:51AM

I have one of those weird names. It's very common in Costa Rica, where my family is from, but here... most people can't say it correctly. So I just go by a shorter version. lol. - SleepyTortuga  288.4 #877 1:19AM

My daughter has an uncommon name, I'm hoping when I can explain to her the reason we chose it, it'll help her embrace it at an earlier age. Uniqueness in itself can be a good thing as it promotes individualism. But it's been researched and proven that too much individualism can lead to narcissism. Which in the real world can be a downfall for those only taught to be unique. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  641.5 #261 10:11AM
Also please think of the people who must say such unique names. When I was a teacher I had the most difficult time calling my students out loud with names like Pumpkin, Dymond, UrHighness, Cookie, Nazareth, Essex, and Pepper. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  641.5 #261 10:20AM
My name is uncommon and is also spelled a little different. My parents explained to me why they chose it when I was pretty young and I have always loved my name! I have to correct people all the time but since I love my name it honestly doesn't bother me. 😊 - MinnieMousewife  766.6 #206 10:23AM

I know I'm coming to this convo ridiculously late, but I too have a uniqueish name: April Dae. My dad was a hippy and wanted to name me April Love. My mom said she didn't want her daughter to be a stripper. So she said April Dawn. But I was born in the evening. So they decided to name me April Day, but let my mom who was hopped up on pain meds spell it. I think it's hilarious now, but didn't like it as a child. I alwaysswore I would name my daughter Mae Dae to get back at them. - LittleAprilShowers  558.7 #312 9:45PM
I'm a proud member of the "Why do you bother checking, they're not going to have your name on that mug/ruler/keychain etc" club. While my name isn't really crazy, it is unique... I am now at the point where I respond to "Kayla" (it's pronounced Ky-lah) when that's not my name because I'm tired of correcting people all the time lol - KylaShea  629.1 #271 10:09PM
I work in child welfare and have come across some crazy names. Most recently, Adrenalina. - tballzz  548.2 #320 10:13PM
My ex went to school with a girl named ABC. It was pronounced absidee - KylaShea  629.1 #271 10:13PM
Just thought I'd share my cousins unique names: raven and majik, both girls. I've never met anyone named Anaheim, so it would definitely be unique! - Princessana08  59.1 #4109 10:15PM
Anyone remember the MWer who asked our opinion on the baby being named Tomarrow? - Alicewhoareyou  1229.7 #111 10:23PM
I worked at schools in Alaska doing school pictures and came across a boy named Nimrod. I felt so bad for him. But the weirdest one I have ever heard is twin boys at a daycare my cousin worked at..Orangello and Lemongello. The first thing their mom ate after they were born orange jello and lemon jello. And yes I met their mother. - Deltachiq  1222.6 #113 10:47PM
I met a kid named Nimrod also when I worked at a summer camp! - Slotherini  1053.6 #145 10:48PM

My name is Kori Rae and I've always been made fun of for it. Especially for my last name which a lot of cruel jokes sprouted from. (Even a certain cm at starbucks was like "that's a Guy name") but I do love my name now because it is unique and only a few girls are named Kori! Plus I love all the middle names with the suffix -ae. My sister's middle name is Mae. No kid ever likes their name until they're older I think. Name your child anything you want! - mermaidhair  176.3 #2173 11:02PM
my name is so common that there was a total of three Samantha's on by street growing up. so I have my grandmother to thank for giving my nickname that I use here :) I have only met one other SammyJo. the names I have picked out are pretty traditional and like itso I can come up with a nickname that suits their own personality :) - SammyJo  348.7 #601 11:39PM
SammyJo I feel your pain. Amy is way too common. So common that it is my stepsisters name and my best friend in high school. It was fun when the three of us were together. When someone would yell Amy we would yell back "which one?" - Deltachiq  1222.6 #113 11:58PM

The laquinta inn is a good hotel and also offers a pretty good breakfast that can help save some money as well.
Don't shoot me here (HoJo is a popular choice, good rate with MW discount and nice rooms), but for location I'd stay at Best Western Park Place Inn. I found the room clean, safe, comfortable, and it included a refrigerator. And...walk right across the street to the front gates. :) - Alicewhoareyou  1229.7 #111 8:01PM
Also, you'll find quite a few threads on this topic via search feature. A lot of good stuff! Have fun planning :) - Alicewhoareyou  1229.7 #111 8:08PM
I agree...stayed here 1 night with my DarlingGranny (85) and we were both pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. :) - Darlingwendi  897.9 #169 8:13PM
We always stay there and love it. - adisneyfamily  682.1 #241 10:25PM
I agree. This is where we usually stay. The location is the best and it's a decent motel. I doubt you'll get it for too much less than $129 per night though. I think the cheapest we've ever paid was $90.00 and now they've added parking fees. We recently stayed at Desert Inn and Suites a couple doors down and paid $59.00 per night but they also charge for parking. It was a decent motel also. Hope this helps :) - Hesatalkintome  28.6 #5433 4:57AM
I like this hotel (Best Wester PPI) too. We Have stayed thre before and are staying here this coming week. They have a decent price and free breakfast so you can get in a good meal before the park. - TMMBBW  24.8 #5777 7:00AM
This is also where I normally. It's clean and a great place. Right by ihop doesn't hurt either. Only reason I'm not staying there this year is our travel agent got us a better deal somewhere else. - JediTrance  71.6 #3843 4:00PM
I booked park place in the first week of october for 89 a night - PlutosBuddy  403.2 #482 5:49PM
HoJo is a popular place, never stayed there but everyone says its great.  We have stayed several times at Anaheim Fairfield Inn.  McDonald's is in front of it and Mimi's cafe is next to it.  You walk to the corner, there's the entrance to Disneyland. On the 2nd floor is pizza hut too... - babebahn  207.3 #1786 8:03PM
All the Wyndham Brands are nice! They have a promo if you stay more than 2-3 days! I will say the HoJo, Ramada, Days Inn and Travelodge! I will go for Super 8 if you just really want a Bed, Shower and Storage! (They don't have a Microwave or Fridge, but you can ask for it I guess), Travelodge is nice but it is close to the Convention Center... Days Inn is average and they have a shuttle service from their area! HoJo is the MW choice for hotel, and i Love the Keurig Coffee Maker! Ramada Plaza is more expensive but they have full breakfast.... but all in all, i will go for Super 8 for Bed, shower and storage! - otilegna  1830.0 #69 5:44PM
Also check out the actual hotels websites. I was looking on Expedia for a hotel for dapper day and found the hotel mΓ©nage for $99. Then looked on their page and found out if you advance purchase the room you get a great deal. $86. But you have to advance purchase it 14 days or more our and pay for it right then. And it is non cancel able. So check the actual hotel websites. I noticed that advance purchase can happen at 14 days at some hotels and at 21 days for others. Just do research! - ImAlwaysCrazy  671.7 #249 5:46PM
