Good morning! This day in Disney history, Sep 2nd, 1979. The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad attraction opens. Imagineer Tony Baxter (pictured below) modeled the "wildest ride in the wilderness" attraction after the scenery of Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. Do you enjoy this attraction, and why? Has it been awhile since you've enjoyed this attraction? For a ride through video: http://is.gd/Z More...

I remember what a big deal it was when it first opened. They had long lines similar to the first days of Cars Land. I also remember they kept the "E-Ticket" sign up for several years after the ticket system was done away with. I love the old west theme of BTMRR. Probably since I love western movies and history so much. Oh, and I last rode it way back on Tuesday night. - ScooterMike

I LOVE the info you always add ScooterMike! Thank you! Do you by chance remember the average wait time back then? - Duchess_SMK 3291.4 #11 7:39AM
I was five years old, but I recall it being a couple of hours. - ScooterMike 1959.8 #35 7:41AM

I looooove toontown!!! Granted, I love it more now that I have a toddler, but if they took it away, there wouldn't be much for really young kids to do. There's rides for them to ride, but sometimes my son needs to get out and explore, and toontown is really the best and only place in the park for him to do that. - LittleAprilShowers 471.6 #256 11:41AM
With a toddler, its a great place to let him explore....:) - Jfigg23 254.7 #966 11:58AM
Here is a story of some Disney magic that happened to me last night. My wife, service dog, and I were waiting for fantasmic last night and a lady and her son sat next to us. We sat down 2 hours early so we had some time to kill and we talked to them. We found out they were from out of state and never seen fantasmic. My wife left to take the dog for a walk and they asked me if I would save their pl More...
I'd like I dedicate this post to all of the CM's who worked "One More Disney Day". You guys are awesome! You put up with crowds not just at their worst, but at capacity, and it's not even technically a holiday! So thank you for doing your best to make it a good experience for every guest! Even though there are many guests who hate these crowds, you haven't given up. Way to go! Also, please please More...
All the CMs we interacted with today were amazing! Even though some looked exhausted they still had a smile on their face. Here's to a well deserved sleep when you get home! May you all get home safe and sound. - Autoalice
