My family bleeds Disney. My mom was at Disneyland when It opened in 1955. My parents use to go on dates there back in the 1960's when it was $5.00 for admission. They went to Grad nite in 68' while I went in 90'. Our family vacations pretty much center

I saw Haryhausen speak live at Gnomom school of Effects. I loved his work from "The voyage of Sinbad" and "The Clash of the Titans". He did a coffee table book awhile back.
He was truly way ahead of his time, very brilliant man. May he rest in peace. - DiamondInTheRough  290.9 #663 6:29PM
A true legend in the stop-motion and special effects field. A little Disney tie-in: he did a lot of the animals for the film "Mysterious Island" in which where the music for the Primeval World segment of the DL Railroad is from (its a stretch) - BaseballMickey_CM  2811.5 #16 7:12PM

These guys are playing snare drums. They are the best part of the parade. I use to be in a marching band and these guys are probably from local marching bands. Also, it is not easy playing these while keeping in step with each other and in synch.

I'm sorry but we're not called Indians, but Native Americans. What you have is a "cigar Indian" which was put in front of general stores in the old west. They were carved to make fun Of us and to exaggerate our features.
No you attempted to make something out of nothing. The gentleman is referring to the statue. Which you said is a Cigar Indian. This isn't about race what so ever. He didn't point any specific person out or made fun of anyone. He spoke of an inanimate object. 😒 - Waites4DodgerEars  659.1 #158 9:04PM

I was correcting the object this person was referring to. Since the person used an outdated cultural reference to my culture I wanted to make sure when people see this object in the park, they'll know that what I said historically before is correct not that it was about advertising. It was about rascism.

Even though this was informative to the audience, most of the dancers were not native Americans. Although, southern ca.has many indigenous tribes Disneyland could have hired to make the show more culturally correct. I'm Cherokee/Choctaw.
I loved this show! As did my daughter who was 5-7 yrs old during the show's run. We saw it every time we went, sometimes more than once a day! And it's true...there were a lot of injuries! The stage was built on an angle (sloped down towards audience) to allow a different view for the audience. This created an unnatural surface for the actors/dancers to move on and there were lots of twisted and broken ankles. I remember one show in particular where Pocahontas went down and still did the rest of the show, but limped through it. - Gia  782.1 #119 11:27AM

Wow, I absolutely remember this, as it was my daughter's favorite thing at DL! She was 2 when this debuted and has been obsessed with Pocahontas ever since the movie came out.
