That's really sweet. That's a nice touch!! My sister has Down syndrome. While in the restroom, she wet her pants. The bathroom attendant noticed and asked me. She usually doesn't have accidents like that. She gave me a slip to get her clean new pants from one of the Disney shops! Lifesaver!

First of all, I am so sorry you had that incident. I have gone to Disneyland all my life and just last year I asked for a DAS. I have a Down syndrome sister with other issues and an Alzheimer's mom in a wheelchair...I know why try? If I don't take them with me then I can't go. I don't care to get on any exciting rides. Just go to get out of the house and enjoy sight seeing. My son comes along. I r  More...

Last month I used my cancer in treatment and they were so helpful. Yesterday all I asked was for 2 fast passes at city hall and I was kicked to the curb. The CM was overweight and pregnant sitting on a chair. Go figure, I asked why she needed a chair since she was young and otherwise healthy(I had nothing to lose). And she said that as long as I could walk in I was not disabled. She has no idea. I took my hat off and showed her my medical notes and temporary disability parking pass and she was the wall. My feet are permanently numb, I have balance issues from toxic chemo and this non medical person decided I was fine. Glad she is not my doctor. I did not have enough energy to fight with stupid. I just walked the park and left. 😩 - Plumiegirl  9014.3 #3 9:00PM
Wow. All I can say is wow. Hope this woman never needs compassion and understanding. Hope you start feeling more yourself soon. (((Hugs)))  - Bassplayerswife  370.8 #572 9:54PM
I know this is a sore subject for many, but I can't agree with you more.  Disabilities are not always visible, and there are no doctors at Disneyland who give out any disability access passes.  Even if there were doctors, they would really have no legal right to ask you for your specific medical information to determine if you qualified or disqualified for a particular service.  I truly feel this is just a lack of training for the CM's.  I know you were tired and didn't want to force the issue, but I would suggest taking a stand and asking to speak with a different CM next time (or supervisor).  Ignorance of a disability doesn't mean it doesn't exist. 25 years ago I was told the pain I was experiencing was probably just in my head...now today there is a better (but still cloudy) understanding of fibromyalgia.  Your pain is real my friend and you have my support and love 100%!  - DisneyDavidEMT  2280.4 #56 9:57PM
This is so horrible to hear, I am so sorry you went through that. That CM needs a swift kick in the pants. Hopefully that was the only time that happens πŸ’š - LindseyanaJones  100.5 #3480 10:05PM
That's horrible. I had a similar experience to yours when they switched from the paper to digital. I'm actually terrified  because I'm supposed to renew mine this coming week and explaining my private medical issues with non-medical people gives me SO much anxiety. Please don't let one misinformed person deter you from feeling the magic of Disney.  - missmimi90  1985.9 #70 10:08PM
I'm speechless. I would have definetly gotten her name and spoken with a supervisor because that's just ridiculous.  I pray you feel better soon ❀️ - minniemoomoo  216.2 #1712 10:09PM
Oh Plumie.. I am so sorry that happened. ((Hugs)) who will post yummy ice cream photos😫😫 - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5411.5 #17 10:26PM
there should be a form that a doc has to fill out,  to get recognition by disney for disability/standing issues.  it shouldn't be up to a an office person or cm to make those decisions. - MsTikiMermadam  334.6 #674 10:46PM

I wish I could've been there with you Plumiegirl To help you fight it. I am disgusted by this - missariel33  2089.9 #65 11:22AM
From what I've seen at city hall, it's a bit hit or miss about the DAS. Many people have been denied lately for reasons that used to allow it.There is also an alternative where you can get return times with "visual" disability. That means cane or wheelchair. City Hall can help determine which is best for you. If you have a cane or something that might assist you that is a good backup plan that will give you an alternative to having to stand up and wait in the lines. What missmimi90 said is very true also about asking for a note. Good luck. - DLKenCA  2225.4 #59 8:47PM
We were there in January and were treated terribly. We had some cays member on a power trip. She refused to reissue my daughter's DAS pass. Then, we finally got a stroller as a wheelchair pass and the cast members working the rides kept telling us different things. Some would allow it and some wouldn't.  - disneymama1  144.5 #2722 3:08PM
I so sorry that The training has not been consistent with all the cast member. Not only myself but my children (they have Autism) use the DAS. It has been hit and miss for us. I have had to ask for a supervisor in the past. also the supervisors supervisor. A plad is not the last stop. I am blind and have back issues.. So it's hard for me to stand and walk threw the cues.  But I still love my Disney and want to go as much as possible. So when I here that the magic has been a bit tarnish by a CM's bad judgment... I know we are not supposed to complain on MW but sometimes you have to speak out  - Fantasmicfan1  1296.2 #118 5:17PM

My mom now has Alzheimer's and in a wheelchair, I take care of her and my sister. Decided to get them AP just to get out of the house. I thought requesting a DAS pass would be difficult.  I attempted our first visit and it was crowded and my sister became overly excited while waiting in a long line and had an accident. Oh no! Next visit we requested one. Made a major difference. We only did a couple of rides. My mom can't handle more than a few rides and her favorite is a anything that involves eating.
