I saw that Christmas time at Disneyland begins November 13th and we are planning a visit November 11th and 12th. Figures. What I am curious about is what happens on the days just before the big changeover. Are the decorations up but the Christmas parade hasn't started? Will IASM be closed until the 13th? Please help! Thanks so much!
In my experience, the fireworks were Xmas already but the parade doesn't start Until the official date. IASW has been open prior to the start date also but there may be times it isn't. I would wait to see what the calendar on Disney says for it to be official - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 3:15PM
And yes pretty much all the decorations are up since they have to do it every night. There may be new ones the night before hit for the most part they are all up. They usually tape the parade for Xmas day the weekend or 2 before so most of then need to be up for that - brodysmommy  334.8 #627 3:16PM
In not sure about IASW or the parade, but I'm pretty sure most of the decor is up a few days before (maybe just a few last minute touches missing), so you'll have the Christmassy feel.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  526.5 #335 3:18PM
The transformation for Xmas time at the. Parks begins very early. The parks start being decorated for Xmas time starting in mid October...the back portions of the parks are decorated first and make their way towards the front...you will see snow on the castle before October is over and holiday merchandise in stores...after Halloween Time ends its a mad dash to place the final decor for the holidays in the front portions of the parks...you will see most holiday decor up before the official start of the holidays and the Xmas tree is put up too :-) IASM holiday version opens up as Xmas time in the parks officially begins :-) - uscdisneyteacher  7119.2 #5 3:21PM
Thanks everyone! I will be so sad if we don't get to go on IASM. :/ - MamalovesMinnie  13.7 #7610 3:40PM

Parents: Disney is magical at any and every age, but at what age would you say would be or have been the MOST magical for your kids? I'm writing something and looking into the argument over the golden age to take kids to Disneyland. Thank you!
I think that the "golden" age is different for every kid.  In my opinion, the best time is when they are old enough to ride most rides without being too scared, yet young enough to still believe in all of the magical experiences that make Disney so special. - angelaprkns  10.2 #8959 4:53PM
By the way, at 34, I am still young enough to buy into, and believe in the magic! - angelaprkns  10.2 #8959 4:54PM
I can't wait until my kids can ride all the rides without fear! That will be a huge milestone! Right now they're 4 & 2 so we miss the big rides!  - MamalovesMinnie  13.7 #7610 4:56PM
We're taking ours in the spring.  She will be 7 and probably will still be too scared for the big stuff!!!   - angelaprkns  10.2 #8959 5:02PM
Fingers crossed!! I got my 4 year old to go on Radiator Springs Racers and Soarin by watching YouTube videos! She realized they weren't scary! Now Splash, that won't happen for a while!  - MamalovesMinnie  13.7 #7610 5:11PM
I don't have kids of my own but when I saw my friends 5 year old  at the parks... It seemed to me like that is the golden age. - missmimi90  1381.7 #90 4:56PM
See, I also feel 5 is an awesome age. At around 6, children start distinguishing real from pretend. That has to be a sad day when you take your kids to disneyland and they have decided that characters aren't real. That will be worse for me than when they stop believing in Santa!  - MamalovesMinnie  13.7 #7610 5:00PM
My daughter is 9 and still believes!! - PrincessAuroraMomma  451.8 #410 6:24PM
I don't know if there truly is a magical age. I think every kid and every adult is different.  I think it all depends on the situation and the trip. I'm sure taking my granddaughter for her first trip will be very magical for me and my kids. But for her will probably be later on in life - grumpyinphx  57.9 #4102 8:19AM
My boyfriend and I go a lot to Disneyland. We are over 28 and still believe the magic! We always say "that's Disney magic for you!" When something awesome happens while there. I know my parents took me to Walt disney world when I was 5 and I don't remember it at all! - PrincessDaisy  305.1 #772 9:06AM

Any creative people out there have any ideas on something cute that I can do with all these old tickets? Thanks!
You could put them under glass on a coffee table! That would look awesome - SPandEvLover  2773.9 #34 7:10PM
I love that idea!!! - MamalovesMinnie  13.7 #7610 11:58PM
Use them as tissues to wipe your tears wondering why you didn't buy an AP. but actually Christmas ornaments sound cool - UTDISNEYFAMILY  1175.5 #112 7:05PM

I KNEW a comment like this was coming! However, these are trips taken over the course of 5 or 6 years! We are twice a year Disney visitors, so yes, we get hosed on ticket prices. Oh well...c'est la vie! πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‰ - MamalovesMinnie  13.7 #7610 11:56PM
But you're right! And I have thought about that soooo many times! If only the So cal annual pass discount covered a little more of central cal!! πŸ˜«πŸ˜‰ - MamalovesMinnie  13.7 #7610 12:20AM

Good afternoon! Last time we were at DL, I saw a man drawing characters as letters on name plaques near the Matterhorn. Each letter was either a princess or a pirate, etc. Can anyone tell me the name of the company and if they are still there? I'd love to get one for my daughter. I should have just bought it when I saw it. Now I'm kicking myself! πŸ˜’
Don't know the name of the company but I believe that person is there all the time  - bobster56  230.2 #1469 2:45PM
Thank you! That's great! I was hoping to find a website of theirs possibly but I don't know their name! At least I can get it on our next trip! 😊 - MamalovesMinnie  13.7 #7610 2:49PM
I agree. They are there all the time. Near Edelweiss Snacks - MelodyMouse  2681.4 #37 2:56PM

We have had 1 done in the park and 2 years later we had one done at DTD. The one from the park is definitely better quality. I don't know if it is because it was done somewhere different or because it was 2 years later.  - disney mama  70.4 #3816 6:09PM

About an hour ago, Frozen merchandise was completely stocked on the Disney Store website. I added an Elsa dress to my shopping cart and then it disappeared. Now they are completely sold out! Anna dresses are still in at the moment. This Frozen craze is insane!
The $20 off coupon is valid today, so the dresses are $30. I'm not surprised. - HasAnyoneSeenMyGlassSlipper  620.3 #274 11:06AM
20$ off coupon? How!!? - MamalovesMinnie  13.7 #7610 11:11AM
If you preordered Frozen through the Disney Store, you got a $10 of $20 or $20 off $40. It's valid in store and online. - HasAnyoneSeenMyGlassSlipper  620.3 #274 11:13AM

Good evening all! Is there anything special that goes on in either of the parks for Mother's Day?
Umm, nothing that I can remember that sticks out in my memory.  - mrscttlemstr  280.3 #920 7:15PM
Bummer!!  - MamalovesMinnie  13.7 #7610 7:17PM
They give fresh flowers to the moms. Β And there is a Mother's Day brunch at Disneyland Hotel. If you plan having a meal in the parks make sure to make reservations. Β Last year Blue Bayou booked up and they had to turn all walk ins away. - PrincessAuroraMomma  451.8 #410 7:20PM
I think they discontinued the brunch, but I could be wrong.  - ythdudette  943.8 #157 7:21PM
yes,, BaseballMickey_CM posted no more Mother's day brunches.  wonder why! - secretagentangel  1242.8 #101 8:11PM
I wonder why also. Thank you for the info! - MamalovesMinnie  13.7 #7610 10:38PM
Mother's Day is one of my favorite days at the park. Like others said, they give out carnations to all of the moms and the main entrance. Also, there are many places that offer special menus for this day. If you check our News section, I posted a some info about these special food selections, along with the full menu from the Disney Parks Blog. FYI: Reservations for Mother's Day started back in the 12th, so act fast!  - BaseballMickey_CM  6012.1 #13 9:13PM

Being a princess in the Magic Kingdom gets you some magical treatment! The characters always make a big deal about my daughter's princess-ness! πŸ˜‰ Every little girl should be treated like a princess at least once in her quick little childhood. πŸ‘‘

Hello! This is my first post but I have been reading posts in the lounge for months now! I will be back at Disneyland in two weeks and want to know what you all consider the best treats at Disney! (I'm 5 months pregnant and anything sweet sounds good anytime of the day) And I haven't figured out how to add a picture, still working on it. Thank you!!!
Welcome!!!! Congrats on your pregnancy!! and ohh that's a tough question. I say try the Mickey shaped beignets with the raspberry and vanilla bean dipping sauces at Cafe Orleans, and of course a Dole Whip, anndddd....a hunny pot Carmel apple!!! Enjoy!!! - Madimay  176.6 #2156 8:04PM
