Question about Annual Passports and Leap Year- I called Disney and was told that if I activate an Annual pass on May 5, 2015, I will be able to use my pass through May 5, 2016 even though it will be a Leap year and I'll be given an extra day. Is this correct? Not a huge deal but it's kinda important because we always like to visit the parks that week! Thank you!

I am πŸ‘Œ this close to sealing a deal on Annual Passes for my fam! πŸ™Œ Convincing my husband has been rough! I've looked around for info on the hotel discounts that I've heard of for passholders but I can't find any concrete numbers. What are some hotel discounts offered for passholders? Thank you SO much! This is all helpful in my case for the passes! 😊

well, on the Disneyland website, they write down when they offer passholder discounts. also, the mousesavers website (if i am allowed to mention it), lists the dates when DLand AP hotel discounts occur... rate wise, i am not sure. - otilegna  2047.2 #63 4:06PM
Depending on the dates it's typically 20-30% off per night. - DLKenCA  2057.2 #62 4:07PM
the HoJo of Anaheim is the official hotel of MW it offers discount to MWers ... You can call them or DM them on here  - Fantasmicfan1  965.6 #171 6:48PM

I've been wondering this for years-Why did Walt choose Sleeping Beauty's castle for Disneyland and not his very first princess, Snow White?

Hm there is a story about this in his books , but one story goes is about the size but when he did build it it was very big, as the castle walls goes to princess Faire area and around Alice since the trees where very small at not hide most of the extended walls like they do today  - pikarich  3777.1 #27 5:35PM
Wow, makes sense though!  - MamalovesMinnie  17.9 #7046 5:59PM
OK nothing concrete but Walt loved a lot of nature and history and was inspired  for many elements in his projects. Sleeping beauty was inspired by a castle from the 19th century and then it's the size of it makes it a focal center for the park but looked bigger in 1955 because of what I said for the trees earlier. He got the same inspiration  for the matterhorn and other areas for disneyland, the frontier lands and of course the main street USA similar to his hometowns I think - pikarich  3777.1 #27 6:46PM
It's pretty amazing that he made such monumental decisions and they were extremely successful! Sleeping Beauty hadn't yet come out and it could have been a flop, but it wasn't! It was probably a risky move instead of going with Snow White, which was already a huge success! Walt was a true genius! Thank you for your info pikarich! I need to read his bio!  - MamalovesMinnie  17.9 #7046 7:00PM
I read somewhere that he chose Sleeping Beauty because the movie was coming out about the same time and he wanted to promote the movie. Not sure if that's the true reason or not. - toniasmith  341.2 #638 5:34PM
I heard that as well. Not sure if it's true or not, but an interesting theory.  - ekwhite  473.0 #403 5:53PM
So interesting! I just looked it up and Disneyland opened in 1955 but Sleeping beauty didn't premier until 1959!Β  - MamalovesMinnie  17.9 #7046 5:58PM
I was thinking that is was too early for the movie too.  - toniasmith  341.2 #638 6:10PM
Toniasmith can right as there is a blogpost from the walt disney company that says in order to promote the film, thecastle was named after sleeping beauty... The film was in development when dland opened - otilegna  2047.2 #63 8:44PM
Thanks for all the info guys!! It's a beautiful castle, even if I'm more of a Snow White fan! 😊🍎 - MamalovesMinnie  17.9 #7046 9:59PM

When do you think (if at all) Disneyland will use the Memory Maker system like Walt Disney World? I have this exact pose on my good camera but I kid you not, the Photopass/memory maker pics are way better! It was soo worth it! #WDW

Hopefully never. I just got back from WDW and they're still looking for missing, very expensive, pictures.  I heard, over there, in a year.  Due to a "technical problem", my video can't be restored. - Winnie111286  3116.3 #38 5:20PM
Oh no! I'm sorry! I didn't have any problems with my pictures or the videos. I hope you get it sorted out.  - MamalovesMinnie  17.9 #7046 5:22PM
I won't ever use it for reasons  like this. I have heard a lot of similar complaints about the system. - Lelundrial  530.2 #353 8:00PM
I have no idea what that is. Could you explain to those of us who have never been to WDW what Memory Maker is? 😊thanks - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5185.3 #17 5:24PM
Haha! Oops! We prepaid 150$ to be able to download all of our fast pass photos and videos. We took full advantage of it and ended up with over 100 pictures! Ride photos too!  - MamalovesMinnie  17.9 #7046 5:29PM
It's 169 now. The Mine Train and TOT have videos. Every picture taken by a PhotoPass is yours to keep. They scan your Magic Band except for the rides. You have to touch the band to a Ball thingy. The Magic Band is your lifeline at WDW. Everything is attached to it. It's on you all the time. - Winnie111286  3116.3 #38 7:57PM
It's also waterproof so you people can wear them to the water parks also. Everyone staying on property gets one.  - Winnie111286  3116.3 #38 8:05PM
The band looks too wide to have to wear on my wrist and would make a big tan line! No thanks. - debbiev  967.7 #170 8:38PM

Serious question. Would you take this bag to Disney World for a week? It's the most expensive purse I've ever owned, it could get dirty or ruined, BUT it's a Disney bag! Told you it was serious. 😊

Oh just take it!! - sawman911  670.1 #258 2:04PM
Take it...nothing will happen to it. Just don't put it on the floor or wet counter tops (bathrooms). I highly doubt you'll go on daredevil adventures where it will suffer a dreadful accident. Just take minor caution of where you put it and just think you're there to have fun πŸ˜ƒ - LaBelleParis  1190.5 #126 2:35PM
I know what you mean by serious lol I collect designer bags, disney and non disney. When I went last month, I didn't take any of my bags to the parks with me. I'm way too paranoid and OCD for that. If you are going to worry then don't take it. - luxkitty  2371.6 #51 3:15AM

We are heading to Disney World in less than 2 months and I am indecisive on what I should do about a camera! I have a mediocre camera and a mediocre camcorder. Both old and not fantastic. We have the Disney Memory Maker which gives us unlimited downloads on any Photopass photos so what would you do? Any recommendations? What about a GoPro? We are an active family, travel, ride motorcycles, and off  More...

I just got the new GoPro 4 Silver and it's awesome for those occasions when you have people in front of you and you don't want head shots in your way. It also takes movies and you don't need to worry about it getting out of focus. It comes with a few attachments, but I recommend buying the "selfie-stick", so there's no need to ask anyone to take your picture. πŸ˜ƒ - LaBelleParis  1190.5 #126 6:26PM
I think the combination of a GoPro and Photopass would be stellar! - MJmouse  274.0 #1030 6:46PM
Thanks, you guys! You definitely got me leaning towards a GoPro! I've seen mixed opinions on picture quality. Are the pictures similar to a point and shoot camera's quality? Thanks again for your help! - MamalovesMinnie  17.9 #7046 7:24PM
Look at Hendizl 's posts. I think you'll go with a go pro after seeing those! - HasAnyoneSeenMyGlassSlipper  655.4 #266 7:31PM
Being an amateur photographer who shoots with a DSLR, the GoPro is good, but it only shoots in a wide angle, fish eye. If I were you, I would go with a more advanced point and shoot that does record good video also.  - BaseballMickey_CM  6850.0 #9 8:28PM

That's true, EVERYWHERE. Forgot to mention we do put them in plastic bags.  It only takes once to learn that trick.  And when we drive, we hang them, but was assuming you meant you were flying to WDW - MermaidHunter  121.0 #3078 6:56PM
Yep, flying. And our luggage is going to have to be just the necessities since it's so darn expensive! Trying to figure this all out. - MamalovesMinnie  17.9 #7046 11:13PM
Items wrinkle less if you roll them. Place in a bag if your worried about glitter. When you get there just hang in the bathroom and the steam from the shower should take care of any wrinkles. Enjoy.  - sewedna  413.2 #489 10:47PM

I saw that Christmas time at Disneyland begins November 13th and we are planning a visit November 11th and 12th. Figures. What I am curious about is what happens on the days just before the big changeover. Are the decorations up but the Christmas parade hasn't started? Will IASM be closed until the 13th? Please help! Thanks so much!

In my experience, the fireworks were Xmas already but the parade doesn't start Until the official date. IASW has been open prior to the start date also but there may be times it isn't. I would wait to see what the calendar on Disney says for it to be official - brodysmommy  401.3 #510 3:15PM
And yes pretty much all the decorations are up since they have to do it every night. There may be new ones the night before hit for the most part they are all up. They usually tape the parade for Xmas day the weekend or 2 before so most of then need to be up for that - brodysmommy  401.3 #510 3:16PM
In not sure about IASW or the parade, but I'm pretty sure most of the decor is up a few days before (maybe just a few last minute touches missing), so you'll have the Christmassy feel.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  573.6 #319 3:18PM
The transformation for Xmas time at the. Parks begins very early. The parks start being decorated for Xmas time starting in mid October...the back portions of the parks are decorated first and make their way towards the front...you will see snow on the castle before October is over and holiday merchandise in stores...after Halloween Time ends its a mad dash to place the final decor for the holidays in the front portions of the parks...you will see most holiday decor up before the official start of the holidays and the Xmas tree is put up too :-) IASM holiday version opens up as Xmas time in the parks officially begins :-) - uscdisneyteacher  7314.6 #7 3:21PM

Parents: Disney is magical at any and every age, but at what age would you say would be or have been the MOST magical for your kids? I'm writing something and looking into the argument over the golden age to take kids to Disneyland. Thank you!

I think that the "golden" age is different for every kid.  In my opinion, the best time is when they are old enough to ride most rides without being too scared, yet young enough to still believe in all of the magical experiences that make Disney so special. - angelaprkns  10.3 #9649 4:53PM
By the way, at 34, I am still young enough to buy into, and believe in the magic! - angelaprkns  10.3 #9649 4:54PM
I can't wait until my kids can ride all the rides without fear! That will be a huge milestone! Right now they're 4 & 2 so we miss the big rides!  - MamalovesMinnie  17.9 #7046 4:56PM
We're taking ours in the spring.  She will be 7 and probably will still be too scared for the big stuff!!!   - angelaprkns  10.3 #9649 5:02PM
Fingers crossed!! I got my 4 year old to go on Radiator Springs Racers and Soarin by watching YouTube videos! She realized they weren't scary! Now Splash, that won't happen for a while!  - MamalovesMinnie  17.9 #7046 5:11PM
I don't have kids of my own but when I saw my friends 5 year old  at the parks... It seemed to me like that is the golden age. - missmimi90  1769.7 #78 4:56PM
See, I also feel 5 is an awesome age. At around 6, children start distinguishing real from pretend. That has to be a sad day when you take your kids to disneyland and they have decided that characters aren't real. That will be worse for me than when they stop believing in Santa!  - MamalovesMinnie  17.9 #7046 5:00PM
My daughter is 9 and still believes!! - PrincessAuroraMomma  526.9 #356 6:24PM
I don't know if there truly is a magical age. I think every kid and every adult is different.  I think it all depends on the situation and the trip. I'm sure taking my granddaughter for her first trip will be very magical for me and my kids. But for her will probably be later on in life - grumpyinphx  432.0 #458 8:19AM
My boyfriend and I go a lot to Disneyland. We are over 28 and still believe the magic! We always say "that's Disney magic for you!" When something awesome happens while there. Hello! This is my first post but I have been reading posts in the lounge for months now! I will be back at Disneyland in two weeks and want to know what you all consider the best treats at Disney! (I'm 5 months pregnant and anything sweet sounds good anytime of the day) And I haven't figured out how to add a picture, still working on it. Thank you!!!

Welcome!!!! Congrats on your pregnancy!! and ohh that's a tough question. I say try the Mickey shaped beignets with the raspberry and vanilla bean dipping sauces at Cafe Orleans, and of course a Dole Whip, anndddd....a hunny pot Carmel apple!!! Enjoy!!! - Madimay  176.6 #2203 8:04PM
I second the beignets!!! - Duchess73  310.1 #778 8:09PM

Have a Tigger Tail for me. I'm pregnant and diabetic. I'm restricted from all my fun sweets until they decide on my medication. I miss the sweets, potatoes and pastas! - vegasbrat  420.4 #477 11:32AM
