This is a tough one. My son requires a DAS pass due to the fact he becomes very agitated in long lines because of his disability. I have been fortunate enough to be able to renew his pass because it only lasts 60days. One one the things I recommend is don't abuse the system. If you or your child require a DAS Pass then politely explain that to the CM. they are not able to ask what the actual disab  More...

I have had a bad year of cancer treatment and I have numb feet from chemo with stability issues while standing for 30 minutes and I asked for the old style pass with the wait time as the line without having to stand waiting and I was denied. I was told to get a wheelchair but my OT/ PT want me to walk. I asked for the park Nurse to get their medical opinion. They said no. I then told the pregnant and obese CM to get off her stool and stand since her pregnancy is a state of health and she can stand her shift since she is not disable with something like my toxic cancer treatment. I spoke a bit with her boss and I have not seen her there since. I spoke with cast members at the attraction who helped me. I only asked for one pass for jungle cruise. It would be obvious if I had asked for all 5 mountains.Β It was demeaning and cruel. I am lucky that I survived my treatment, I have really bad fatigue after 5 1/2 weeks of daily radiation. I just wanted to walk in, take one ride, and walk out. Since when does a cane or wheelchair deem one disabled? How many years have teens rented wheelchairs just to use it for disability perks? The real issue is it should be for 1 adult and 1 disabled person since CMs can’t assist the disable person. I never understood the 6 or more group. 2 people max on a pass would make this very fair. I had my medical chart and health portal and presented it to the city hall only to have them say they are not medical people. I am a registered nurse and I can explain my issues and present my charts. Looks like your system is a complete fail and one of the worst things I have experienced from disney who has in the past been wonderful. I scared them with volunteering to show them my surgical scars and dead toe nails from the chemo poison but they freaked out. They are not trained for disabled folks and maybe I should call the ADA and have them talk about their discriminatory practice. I am fighting for my life, they are fighting their overcrowding issues which are not related to my disability that I did not ask for. - - Plumiegirl  9015.4 #3 11:17PM
That's not true. My son has Autism and he has one. It his harder to get. It's not about the diagnosis. You have to explain why/how the DAS (disability access pass) can help you. For most adults it's usually about your limitations. If your an adult and your not in a wheelchair it's very important to explain why you need the pass. So, basically if you can walk through the park why can't you stand in line....kinda explanation needed. Hope that helps a little.  - Sweetiesmama  19.9 #6818 8:27PM
It makes it hard when you have a disability. Disney remember you're a service organization - suzieq65  39.5 #4946 8:38PM
For you Sweetiesmama.  You are wonderful. - PalousePrincess  13.5 #8402 10:53PM
Yikes... My son has aspergers a form of high functioning autism. He is 23 and currently dependant on me.  We went last May (2014) and got a DAS pass but it took some work to get it.  So much so it made my son very uncomfortable. My son is physically capable of standing in line but standing too long causes him a lot of stress and anxiety to where he will give up and not go on the ride. The Das pass really helped him enjoy the park more. He wasn't stressed and frustrated. He was able to participate with the family. We used the fast pass system when available but some rides don't have fast passes or were out so we used the Das pass. We are going back in July and plan on getting the pass again.  I sure hope we don't have to 'fight' for it! I hate putting my son through it. It really was tough last time.  - Nikki3Mous3  4.7 #18512 10:40PM

We have a double Bob and take it with us each time. Pushing a stroller through crowds doesn't matter what size it is can be hard at times but it's easier to push than  regular one so we don't mind. Whichever has the best storage and most comfortable for the kids and easy to push, I say pick that one.  - brodysmommy  406.2 #511 9:49PM
What about getting on the train or the monorail, is that a big pain?? - Momof4girls1boy  4.0 #22955 10:31PM
We don't ride the monorail except when we ride from inside the park and all the way around (we stay at a hotel across the street). So we always park it by autopia and leave it. For the train we just fold it up. We tend to put loose things in bags so it's easier for someone else to grab a bag while we fold the stroller up in the case we ride the train. Any type of stroller is a pain (in my opinion) to fold up for the train or monorail.  - brodysmommy  406.2 #511 2:16PM

I was under the impression no outside food was allowed so I was just going to bring empty water bottles. It would be a lot nicer to bring some snacks as well. Thanks - Momof4girls1boy  4.0 #22955 12:05PM
Yes we always bring our own water and soda and snacks for the kids! Saves tons of $ that way!!  - brodysmommy  406.2 #511 2:27PM
I used to bring a Bob revolution when my kids were still babies but then ended up bringing an umbrella stroller with shade and a little storage for my 3-4 year old. I preferred smaller. Remember not to leave anything valuable in your stroller storage. We like to park it and go on all the rides on the area, then grab the stroller to get to the next land. Once my principal/boss who is vegan had his Family's lunches stolen from their stroller. Just be careful with what you leave in there. - brigeet  403.4 #516 6:38AM

Yes. I'm including the time I spent in line before parks opening. I used the term "on property" a lot yesterday @disneyfreak111. - thatgirljenn  1514.4 #100 2:53PM

I have been a AP holder for years and have not received anything about special events. Maybe because I'm a deluxe pass holder and not premium   - palomine96  19.0 #6985 11:08AM

I like the easy scenic ones too. Every now and then I feel the need to push myself with a crazy hike, but just getting out in nature and taking it all in is just so refreshing. - DarthTinkerbell  415.4 #496 10:28PM

Bring your own food and drinks into the parks. It is allowed. And makes things so much nicer. We bring snacks, sandwiches, water, tea, Gatorade. We have an entire bag full of that stuff. Then when we feel like splurging we get a churro or popcorn and share it.

Bengal bbq is fairly cheap, and yummy.  Matterhorn Macaroons at Jolly Holiday are only 1.99--great price for a treat.  Dole Whips are pretty inexpensive (3.50 I think).  Plaza inn chicken is a really good deal if you share.  We actually share pretty much every meal (portions are huge, anyway), and don't order sodas, and doing those two things helps with the food cost A LOT.  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  593.7 #320 10:59AM
We like to share. Portion sizes are large sodas are expensive if you're trying to save money. Freeze water bottles if it's hot out  DCA New Orleans.  - suzieq65  39.5 #4946 11:36AM
Food (soup/salad) in bread bowls is always a good option for us, filling and cheap (@$10).  Corndogs/apples for lunch (@$7).  Stick with counter service, not sit down places.  Bring in your own snacks and beverages (no glass).  Eat breakfast in your room (cereal, fruit etc) or find a hotel that offers breakfast stuff.  There are menus on here with prices to give you an idea of what you're looking at. 😁.   - Linzee  1080.8 #157 11:25AM

I like to walk across the street to mcdonalds. Not always the healthiest choice but cheapest for sure. There is also a Dennys across as well - awind1984  3.5 #27392 6:21PM
