I have stayed at the Grand on the concierge level. It really was a treat. The hotel in general is breathtaking and it was nice to have a special room for breakfast and snacks and such. MY family would go pretty much every day before we were to retire for the evening, and get plates loaded with chocolate covered strawberries. It was a wonderful experience. Now from a different point of view, that w  More...

Currently staying in one at the Paradise Pier hotel...totally worth it...continental breakfast each morning...fruits, cereal, bagels, assorted coffee, tea, drinks, bread and pastries, snacks throughout the day, happy hour with hot appetizers. Wine, drinks, and dessert hour...you can relax in the concierge lounge, check out she's to play in your room...just a great experience :-) - uscdisneyteacher  7223.1 #8 1:51PM
We did it when it was included with a suite at DLH but unless you have a lot of people I don't think its worth the money. What's the extra charge per day? We pack snacks and bring an ice chest full of drinks and always a case of bottled water and save a bundle. Helps allowing us to stay at the GC - Goofytom  1018.8 #154 1:57PM
We've stayed at the PPH concierge & thought it was worth the extra $ we're staying at the Grand concierge for Dapper Day weekend because of the great discount in Feb.  I was told PPH closes at 8pm & Grand 10pm.  - UTDISNEYFAMILY  1401.8 #96 5:31PM
We did, at PPH. It was ok.  If you have a number of people or kids it would be worth it.  It was nice to be able to stop in for breakfast" they had cereal, juice fruit. The coffee was really weak, so we added an expresso pod coffee to it the first day, but it was broken the rest of the time. Snacks for the day were check mix, goldfish, and stuff that was just fillers.  Evening hot food was chicken skewers one night, spring rolls another etc. we went back one night for beer and wine. The hours just really made it so inconvenient.  Just not open late enough. It was cool to try once, but I would spend my money else where, and bring my keurig.  - Sugarbuzz  162.1 #2401 8:00PM

Thank you guys for your advice, I really hope it works out!

If he doesn't do well, check at City Hall for a Guest Assistance Card. Let them know a little bit. He should avoid getting "trapped" in lines.  Also find some quiet places and wander around. Innoventions is pretty good.  I would also try to pick a weekday as it is MUCH less crowded that a weekend. You don't get all the night activities, but a good first step. Also just take it at his own pace. I learned that with my child. You don't have to rush everything. Just get done what you can and enjoy the time together. - DLKenCA  1758.3 #75 9:47PM
My hubby has the same issues. Β We get there at rope drop, leave around 11 am- noon. Go to the hotel, eat, swim, nap. It might be crowded when we go back late afternoon but being relaxed Β helps. This past April was his first visit in years and without a hotel stay. We let him dictate the day and had a good time.Β  - PrincessDuckie  736.1 #218 9:51PM

My husband had TBI/mildPTSD he wont actually admt to it bt he does and some days dianey is far too overwhelming for him. We just stop in quiet spot as needed. Court des Anges used to be a good spot but they are taking that away now so we qill need to find another spot. You can get a GAC bt if he is like my husband he wont use it cause "hes fine and can just deal with it" - starwarsmamma  561.6 #314 2:51PM

Firefighter medic to be, but current EMT :)

Hey Doc, I think you and many other MWers know what my wife and I do... My wife is an acute care nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology as well as an associate professor for UCSF's masters of nursing program. That right, I married one incredibly smart and caring person. As for me, I am a career naval officer with 23+ years of active duty having spent 19 of those years serving with explosive ordnance disposal mobile units. I am medically retiring out this year after losing my ulna nerve in my right arm in addition to having the arm dislocated, rotator cuff torn, shoulder impingement, dislocated rib, 1 compressed vertebrae and 1 herniated disc due to an IED encounter. I'm doing much better after my last procedure which almost a year ago...thank you all who supported me when I did the Tough Mudder last month and I am running Sausalito's Save the Seals run tomorrow, as well as Pleasanton's Tri for Real triathlon and Half Moon Bay's Splash and Dash in September! - BombFrogFormerCM  785.6 #200 8:44PM

BF, you are a walking miracle!! Totally my hero!!! My son's GF is also a RN...she is going to start the NP program here in the next month in Sonoma. I love the medical field! My next daughter is supposed to start at an assisted living residence here in the next couple of weeks in their restaurant. She is considering becoming a CNA. - 2BeignetOrNot2Beignet  949.9 #161 8:51PM
It was a little weird but I showed HMACIF my surgery and shrapnel scars on my arm and that I cannot fully extend it when we met up on Maui...it's too hot to wear long sleeves and I'm becoming less self conscience about it thanks to my wife and minis! - BombFrogFormerCM  785.6 #200 8:57PM
Wear your scars proudly! I for one thank you for all that you did to suffer them for us - DisneyDavidEMT  1604.2 #83 8:59PM
Thanks Doc. I would walk thru far worse to be there for Jack...he is my little hero! - BombFrogFormerCM  785.6 #200 9:06PM
Your scars are your badges of courage! It brings tears to my eyes to think of the struggles that your family has had to go through to protect us! I'm proud to call you a friend! - 2BeignetOrNot2Beignet  949.9 #161 9:06PM
I thank god for this special woman who married me! Since we were married she has dealt with a total of 2 tours in Iraq, 2 tours in Afghanistan, 1 WestPac cruise and my being sent on SAR (search and rescue) duty right after Hurricane Katrina--riding out Huricane Rita. I was not with her when Jack was diagnosed with high functioning autism and I can't imagine how hard that was to find out about while I was deployed, because she was concerned about me concentrating on my duty she didn't tell me until I was done with that tour and heading stateside. - BombFrogFormerCM  785.6 #200 9:24PM
Isn't it crazy that out of all the people in the world we have been fortunate enough to find someone that gets us through thick and thin... Support in times of health crisis, even though they may be going through something too, they always put us first. I think that's why my marriage is so special... My husband and I always put the other one first... I don't want to say like a competition, but for lack of a better word ill go with it😊 I love that your wife is a healing force in your familie's life... The children are truly blessed to have such loving and positive role models in their lives. - 2BeignetOrNot2Beignet  949.9 #161 12:09AM

Oh wow my mom is a big main street fanatic. Most of her time at Disneyland is usually at main street. I would love the goofy pin for her so doesn't hurt to try. Add please. :) - 1stDateDisney  172.2 #2239 2:39PM

I agree....however I have to say this is when being tall is not a good thing :/ shorts that would be mid thigh on some girls are really high up on me, and my legs are so long that no matter what I wear, I'm all legs. (imagine a pair of legs walking around the park with no body lol that would be interesting to explain) However I do what I can. I have some of those tops that are meant to show off yo  More...

And remember ladies: some fabrics look fine in your bathroom mirror, but are totally see-through in daylight. 😱 Before you leave, check your outfit in natural light, and save the see through stuff for the clubs and partying or other adventures. And if your friend asks if she looks ok, for heaven's sake, if she doesn't, gently tell her the truth, and then let her decide if she still wants to wear her outfit. I'd rather have my friend or sister tell me my dress is see through or that my shirt is a little low cut or that I need to wear a belt than have strangers giggling at me all day. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  551.2 #321 3:06PM
Amen sister! ;) - lohofosho  784.5 #201 3:20PM
Serious?! If you can't decide it's see through, can't see your own cleavage and make an appropriate decision for yourself - you have bigger issue than your clothing. - Plumiegirl  8308.9 #3 4:06PM
THANK YOU!! And really, shouldn't this apply to wherever you go, not just Disneyland?? - SmallWorldSister  11.0 #8911 4:14PM

I love this! πŸ˜‚ My hubby and I were behind this adorable family at rope stope once. The mom was in Capri type pants and a tank top with a light sweater to cover up. But every time she bent over to tie her shoes or deal with the baby in the stroller, we saw EVERYTHING. I felt so bad for her and couldn't figure out how she didn't know these pants weren't leaving anything to the imagination. - Prettynpink1023  276.4 #977 4:49PM
It's so awkward when you see a nice person dressed like that--it's like "why doesn't someone tell her!? Don't they love her?" I saw a poor chubby teen at the mall the other day. She was with her friends wearing a dress that was so tight, she couldn't zip it up all the way. It was flowy on the bottom, but the top was so tight. I wondered why her friends didn't say something to her. :( - Spoonful_O_Sugar  551.2 #321 5:46PM
My three year old son has an embarrassing habit of trying to touch, um, let's say, "outfits" that grab his attention. Last time we were at the park, I had to stop him twice from stroking legs (and buttcheeks) that were not covered. At first I was totally embarrassed, but then I figured they dressed that way cuz they wanted attention from boys. I guess they just didnt figure it would be a three year oldπŸ˜‚. - LittleAprilShowers  559.5 #315 3:43PM

I'm cheap, and easy to please when it comes to food. I get a pretzel at bengal bbq (I like the not disgusting cheese) and I like to get the bbq chicken baked potato at troubadoor tavern or however you spell it. Both are reasonably priced, the mickey pretzel holds me over until we get dinner (our only legit meal we eat) in dowtown disney, and the potato is a full meal for me, they're pretty big.
