Yeah, they do it so nothing goes wrong (coughBTMRRcough). I was told by an Indy CM that some rides have really high tech sensors that if a car goes in just a centimeter off, they have to reboot the system. I'd rather have shut downs than get hurt! - KylaShea 541.3 #215 9:25PM
The attractions don't just "break down." there are certain aspects involved to
make an attraction auto emergency stop or make a CM need to shut the attraction down. For instance, something falling off on the track and the sensors picking it up would be an automatic emergency stop or guests getting onto the attraction do slowly it makes the cars get backed up into the attraction i.e. Fantasyland dark rides would cause the ride to automatic emergency stop if the cars go past a certain point. CM's also have the responsibility to ensure your safety and are sometimes forced to emergency stop the ride. For instance someone not staying seating on BTRR or getting out of a doom buggy(yes, it's possible). It isn't necessarily because they have the same trains running all the time or because they feel like it. The cars are built to be run all the time. Also, usually if a ride breaks down there will be a walk off. Then it's a process of getting facilities to come out and make sure there's nothing seriously wrong and then powering up the ride again. I guess what I'm trying to say is, when a ride breaks down its usually for a good reason and for the safety of the guests on board. So the next time you're in line or on the attraction and it stops, be thankful and move on. There are plenty of other attractions available. - MissSwann 268.2 #862 9:37PM

We were there in may last year on one of the grad nights there was a bunch of teenagers on it in dresses and suits and they had to walk off of it the girls were taking their heels off and carrying them. It was quiet a scene to watch! Meanwhile it solved me of EVER wanting to ride it! - Disneymomab
